The show will be hosted by Nicki Minaj and Pitbull, the 2011 American Music Awards will feature performances by Justin Bieber, Mary J Blige, Kelly Clarkson, Chris Brown, Daughtry, Katy Perry, One Republic, and The Band Perry, as well as collaborations from Gym Class Heroes/Adam Levine, Maroon 5/Christina Aguilera, will.i.am/Jennifer Lopez, Nicki Minaj/David Guetta, and Pitbull/Marc Anthony/Lil Jon.

The American Music Awards will air this Sunday, November 20th at 8:00 on ABC.

Shorter, brings us Alicia Keys fabulous red carpet hairstyle from
the 2009 American Music Awards.

TIPPI SHORTER ON ALICIA KEYS

Alicia has recently gotten hair color. We went a couple of
shades lighter with Clairol and we love it!

Not only did she walk the red carpet, but, she performed 2 times
so I had to find a fun style that can transform easily throughout
the night.

We decided to do an updo, but with a creative twist. She has
always been very well known for her braids so I have been
incorporating braids into alot of her looks lately, but from a more
fashion standpoint.

To protect it we always start the the Pantene color revive
shampoo and conditioner to help keep hair healthy and vibrant.

After the shampoo and conditioner, I used the detangling leave
in from Pantene and blow dried her hair with a Mason Pearson brush
to get her hair as smooth as possible.

I wanted to recreate the backward mohawk braid that I did for
her most recent video, so I sectioned the hair into 3 sections
front to back. I gathered the 2 outermost sections and secured them
into a ponytail using Ojon animated styling paste.

With the center section, I started a braid from the nape all the
way to the front and made it a little off center. I tucked the end
of the braid underneath the main braid and secured with bobbi
pins.

I finished the entire look off with Ojon Tunu Elastik hairspray
and Bed Head Headrush spray shine.

There you have it. Now you can create this same style at home.

I’m hearing that Whitney and Ray J may be back together again. Ray J was sitting right behind Whitney at the American Music Awards last night, and concreteloop.com posted some pics of the couple heading to dinner after the award show. Ray J revealed in recent interview that he and Whitney are just “good & close friends” and people are just speculating about their relationship. Yeah okay!!!

I just can’t keep up with Ray J!!

J. Lo sues ex-husband for $10 million over sex tape

Janet Jackson is set to take the stage at the American Music Awards on November 22nd. According to the LA Times, the performance, will air live from the Nokia Theatre in New York City and Ms. Jackson will be opening the show with a special 8-minute medley!

Speaking on Janet’s performance, American Music Award producer Larry Klein said:

“We’re thrilled about having Janet Jackson open this year’s show. She is an incredibly dynamic performer, and I think the audience will be excited to see what she has in store.”

Whitney Houston will be taking to the stage to perform at the “American Music Awards” on November 22nd. According to thatgrapejuice.com, Whitney will be performing ‘I Didn’t Know My Own Strength’.

Houston joins Janet Jackson, Rihanna among others, as a performer at the event. The singer is also scheduled to perform on the final episode of “Dancing With The Stars.”

I’m hearing Rihanna is set to make her first appearance since the much-publicized beating last February.

According to acesshowbiz.com, Rihanna is going to visit the 2009 American Music Awards and sing at the show. As of today, no official statement has been made by either the AMAs or Rihanna’s camp. I’m praying she doesn’t warble that new song of hers.

The American Music Awards will take its 37th annual celebration to Los Angeles.

Michael Jackson has a chance to win artist of the year posthumously at the American Music Awards. According to the Associated Press, MJ will face Lady Gaga, Eminem, Kings of Leon and country star Taylor Swift in the artist of the year category, while “Number Ones” scored a nod for favorite pop/rock album, where it will compete against Gaga’s “The Fame” and Swift’s “Fearless.”

Swift topped all artists with six nominations. She drew inadvertent attention at the MTV Video Music Awards last month when rapper Kanye West interrupted her acceptance speech to say Beyonce deserved the award instead.

In the 10 days following Jackson’s death, his 2003 greatest hits package “Number Ones” surged to the top of the charts selling more than 440,000 copies, according to Nielsen. The collection could end up as 2009′s top-selling album.Jackson followed Swift with five nominations and Eminem received four.

The King of Pop was also nominated for favorite pop/rock male artist, favorite soul/R&B artist and favorite soul/R&B album.
