She’s Got The Look! Winner Cindy Cohen

Tilane Jones here, just stopping by from UrbanBeautyCollective.com. We received a great response to our last post and we want to thank everyone on Hello Beautiful for taking the time to read and interact. We love it!

So Beautifuls, we’re back with the winner of TV Land’s SHE’S GOT THE LOOK, Cindy Cohen. Cindy was crowned the next great supermodel. This 40 year old stunner is a mother, wife and a certified life coach. She has also penned a book, THE LIFE OF YOUR DREAMS IN 30 DAYS OR LESS.

After competing and winning against hundreds of 30 something beauties in Los Angeles, New York and Atlanta, we had to know what Cindy thinks are must-haves in a woman’s beauty routine. In short, she looks so good we just HAD to know her secrets!

“Do some form of physical exercise. It helps release stress, which takes a toll on our looks,” explains Cindy. Amen to that! Muscle knows no age. So the more you have, the younger you will feel and look. We’re not talking about body building, but lean muscle is the key.

What else Cindy? “Leave time for yourself. Do something that nurtures your inner spirit,” she advises. I agree with this! Especially for the Moms out there. You gotta nuture YOU.

Read a good book: FAMILY AFFAIR: What it means to be African American Today by Gil L. Robertson IV. This is a thoughtful collection of short essays, addressing a wide range of issues and emotions facing African Americans today. Self-reflection on ourselves and our community is important for any grown woman to be doing on a regular basis.

Take a nap! The simplest things are usually what we are missing the most. Sleep is more important then we think for proper mind and body function.     if u mean by “shes got the look” that “she could pass for white without tryin” then maybe. but no, thats not beautiful. if she was darker and had “blacker” features, she never wouldve been picked i bet. theres probably white people who look blacker than her. fuhck u cindy cohen! she fugly as hell

    Congrats to Cindy for being 40, beautiful and holding her own.

    Some of the ignorance is rampant on here and as you read through some of the comments, it becomes apparent that some people are very judgmental, ignorant, and really need to think before posting such asinine remarks about this lady or any of the other posts.

    To the one lady that said “is she really a he,” Wow, are you serious that you skimmed the entire post and didn’t read that “she” is a mother. Not to embrace a stereotype, but they say “you can hide things in a book, because most people won’t read it in the first place.” Society as a whole needs to stop being alliterate. Yes, alliterate, having the ability to read, but not wanting to do so.

    To the guy who posted ridiculous, stereotypical comments, this article wasn’t about “darker/lighter,” this was about her being over the age of 30 (what society denotes as older) and still being beautiful. She’s black, regardless of her skin tone, stop being so hateful.

    Someone ALWAYS has to be negative. This woman is indeed gorgeous and looks amazing for her age. Shindogg, I do agree with you TO A CERTAIN EXTENT! Women who are brown or darker in complexion are not (as likely) to be perceived as beautiful as those lighter. However, I blame a lot of “our” people for this perpetual cycle of IGNORANCE. We are so quick to praise a lighter skinned (or NON-BLACK) woman for her beauty than we are our own. It angers me at times but I must say Cindy Cohen embodies beauty regardles off her shade. Furthermore, she appears to be in good shape, has nice skin tone, beautiful eyes and age defying…God Bless her ;).

    I should have spell checked my post, but the word should be “aliterate.” We’re living in a computerized/wii/x-box/ps2/blackberry/i-phone/etc. world, but people still need to “read” and think more.

    I’ve watched both seasons of “She’s Got The Look!” Cindy earned her place. From the beginning of this season show I knew that she would be the winner. She maintained a positive attitude, helped the other contestants and was NOT messy like many of the other contestants. She behaved maturely. YOU GO CINDY!!! Represent for all of us women of color who are over 40.

    @ a few people below who has not seen the show. yes she is mixed but most of the people who auditioned for the show is white so please stop talking about race and complexions. she did a really good job and took the best pics. I wanted the military chick to win but she took horrible pictures she doesn’t know how to model.

    For the brother that does not appreciate our complex history when it comes to color I would just like to say it is sad that you choose to use words like that about this truly amazing woman. Alec Wek is one of the worlds top paid models and she is as dark as you can possibly get. And If you were in Africa right now, the same remark you made about Ms Cohen’s mixed heritage is the same they would say about your and yours. I have been there. So with that being said, lets celebrate our diverse culture, you know our President is of mixed heritage as well. We don’t need that type of self hatred at this point and time. Let’s lift one another up.

    We are children of the rainbow, our colors range from Lena Horne, to Alec Wek. Be grateful we all are diverse and don’t look alike, it is a blessing!
