Give the Nice Guy a Shot

I’ve never been the one to seek the bad guy, the kind to come over and wear it out then steal money from your purse while you take your after-sex shower. I have, however, had a dude ask me for money for the bus and jack me for my phone headsets. It was the same man and yes, he had a record but the ohhh wee was sweet.

Coming to terms with the fact that it’s not just the men I pick but rather the men that I don’t pick and all that I am missing out on as a result is enough to take me back to the drawing board.

Perhaps I have neglected the Nice Guy pool.

What am I, like most women, looking for:

Stability: Nice guys are stable for the most part. They are so nice they don’t spend their time chasing behind women so that means they focus on work, family and building their lives up.

Romance: Nice guys love to make love and buy flowers and pick up that little necklace he noted that you admired in the Tiffany’s catalouge. Since they don’t spend their time being dicks they are more in tune to you.

Commitment: Nice guys always want to commit. That’s because they still have faith in relationships and rather be involved then raked over the coals by some she-devil who will suck them dry.

Nonetheless, as a single girl, I still fight my instinct to reject the Nice Guy.

The Nice Guy really just wants to be loved, like every woman. Yet when we women see someone in the living flesh who reflects the same needs, wants and sensitivity that we ooze from the hairs on our heads to the cuticles on our toes (twofold between the months of Nov – Feb when the holidays remind us how much it sucks to be single and we are bombarded with the worst question in the world, “Why are you single?”) we want to grab them by the nuts and yell “Man up, you damn sissy!”

Why do we hate the Nice Guy?

My reason, I find them pathetic. To further cement my sentiment I took Manny’s advice and went out on a date with a Nice Guy.

    Nowadays women chase thugs….not all but some but when a nice guy do come around its too easy for them to be with it doesn’t provide much of a challenge to them because he will call her, spend time with her etc. Let the thug type come around….don’t call always, don’t see her often and she’s chasing him asking questions like “What’s going on with you?”

    Women especially black women of today love confusion,and drama thugs bring to them.also its the sense of danger and the unknown they love most.we all know black women love to argue and they can’t do that with a good man.because most good men or peace keepers,also good man are NOT pushovers.they just don’t like confusion.but most importantly you will never see a good man raise his hand at woman unlike thugs and little boys do.

    Either way i give 2 fuks less. Always been a nice guy but now im more focused on my self. women are too confused and i aint got time for these high school games these females be playin. so let them date them guys let them have 3 – 5 kids , let them get their divorces and let them mess up their lives because mine aint goin no where.. im building mines.

    ALL I LOOK FOR IS THE NICE GUY…I DONT DATE THUGS/GANGSTERS/DRUG DEALERS ETC. ANYMORE…THEY ARE A WASTE OF TIME AND DONT CARE OR EVEN WANT A RELATIONSHIP….MOST OF THEM ARE CRAZY IN THE HEAD, HAVE TOO MANY KIDS, AINT DOING ANYTHING FOR THEMSELVES…..ALOT OF BLACK WOMEN DONT KNOW WHAT TO LOOK FOR IN A GOOD MAN…SO THEY THINK THERE GETTING SOMETHING WITH THESE TYPE OF MEN. PERSONALLY, I FEEL THE NICE GUY IS THE BEST BECAUSE I KNOW I JUST MIGHT CAN BUILD SOMETHING WITH HIM. MOST OF THEM HAVE THERE HEAD ON THEIR SHOULDERS AND WHAT THEY WANT OUT OF LIFE. MARRIAGE MATERIAL AND I CAN TAKE THEM HOME TO MEET THE FAMILY.

    I KEEP FINDING LOSER AFTER. EITHER HE HAS A GIRLFRIEND, ENGAGED, OR MARRIED. AND WHEN I FIND A SINGLE MAN ALL HE DOES IS BEG FOR MONEY AND JUST WANT TO BE SEX BUDDIES. I HAVE GIVEN UP ON LOVE AND FINDING THE RIGHT MAN FOR ME. I AM WONDERING IF HE IS EVEN OUT THERE. LIKE FLANNERY O’CONNER SAID “A GOOD MAN IS HARD TO FIND.”

    I married a nice guy and he treats me very good. He still has a little ghetto in him, but over all he’s sweet, attentive and spoils me rotten. I don’t take advantage of the situation, I love him right back. There’s nothing wrong with being with a nice guy….however I must warn you, most nice guys have a slow burning temper that could be explosive if you push the wrong buttons.
