J-Hud Back In The Spotlight At Superbowl

In her first public appearance since the tragic murders of her mother, brother and nephew in October, Oscar winner and “American Idol” vet Jennifer Hudson gave a stunning performance of the national anthem before the Super Bowl on Sunday.

Stepping onto a small blue platform, Hudson took a deep breath and leaned easily into the microphone, letting loose her signature crystalline vocals on the country’s anthem, bringing the song a dreamy quality that rivaled one of the other great renditions of the anthem at the big game: Whitney Houston’s legendary soul shakedown in 1991 during the first Gulf War.

    This is just my opinion. It was ok. She sang great but the instrumental background could have been better. And if you look back at the footage, she didn’t even cracked a smile. That kind of ruined the performance. But I am glad she came back and orderly fashioned with the anthem. She comes third after Whitney and Marvin

    I thought that Jennifer Hudson did an amazing job. She was great but my favorite rendition of the National Anthem was when Whitney Houston sang it at Superbowl yrs ago,and I agree with person who mentioned Marvin Gaye!Good job though J-Hud!

    This young lady experienced an unthinkable triple tragedy in her life that occurred at the SAME TIME. So for her to be standing there singing and in her RIGHT MIND is truly the strength of God and a miracle. I think she did and AWESOME JOB! Way to go Jennifer.

    I thought it was amazing…I couldn’t even move from my seat when I watched her perform.I think this is her strongest comeback she needed this to get back on that high horse.She hasn’t done anything public since her family tragedy.She was beautiful,stunning and a blessing to watch.You go girl…God bless you.

    I got chills, that woman is blessed and she didn’t overdo it or anything. I think this is my favorite rendition of the Anthem. I think she was drawing all that pain and emotion into her voice, now that’s real soul. I miss singers that actually can sang.

    Due to NFL copyright laws this video is no longer posted. I sooooo hate I missed her performance (all I saw was Bruce Springsteen). Nonetheless, I will find it on the world wide web somewhere!!! She is a beautiful woman of God with amazing strength. Jennifer has been in many of my prayers. I wish her continued success and solace through these difficult times.

    I still could see the sadness in her eyes. She normally smiles and wave….she didn’t do that this time. I will continue to keep her in my prayers. Her performance amazing. Welcome back. I just wish she would’ve song for the president and first lady’s dance….that would’ve been a tear jerker.

    I give her props for putting her self first, and putting her grief on hold. That takes strength and faith in God. You could hear the tears and the faith all at once. She made me want to cry, just knowing how it feels to loose a brother and a parent.
