U agree with ‘wizdom63′ No one can keep anyone … if a person is going to goo they are going to go … But the question is .. can one do anything to help ‘prevent’ losing a guy that would otherwise stay … On that premise .. Coco has some valid points …

i think the only reason (or at least one of the main reasons) black women would/should get mad is because bp put the phrase “black women” in the title of the article. that’s when a black woman would start sayin ish like “why is this white [insert derogatory term of choice here] tryna give me advice?!” like coco said, she didn’t mention race/color in her advice. her main points are to keep the relationship interesting and communicate. that’s very understandable and applicable to all races, but it’s not a new idea. people have been stressing this for years.

I’m not mad at her at all. White women are all about treating. We are getting tired of the ungrateful attitude, mistrust and lack of motivation. Big ups to Coco.

Coco is 100 percent right. She does what a lot of people should do everyday. If you spend most of your time bringing your work home and when you have a man just looking at flicks wishing that woman would walk through the door instead of you. Its time to step the game up. I believe too many people get complacent in their relationships and the other is looking to keep moving it to other levels. I believe some women feel once they commit that they dont have to keep up with what got their man hooked in the first place. Big ups to CoCo. In America woman all share the same cultural influences of how to treat a man. So, the main factor is willingness, the willingness to show how much you care when it is time to. 1. DO NOT nag him.
2. DO NOT bombard him with conversation as soon as he walks in the door.

licking feet and being at a man’s mercy every second is not cool. sounds like pimpish slave mentality. 50/50 is what i believe in. my relationships have been successful (have been engaged 5 times) but just don’t want to be married. I have had good men and was able to keep them, i just got bored because they weren’t challenging enough for me. whatever works in a relationship for a woman she should do if she feels that will keep man.i say, men do what they want to do. if a man decides to stay in a relationship, it’s because HE wants to. a woman can do all sorts of things to keep a man….but in the end, the man makes the final decision.

I see nothing wrong with what she said but at the same time I want to do that for someone who deserves it. I was raised by black women. When I go for a job interview they see a black woman, when the man from the census comes knockin, they don’t ask why is my hair straight, they just check the black box.

When I first read the headline, I got offended, but when I read the post, I actually took her advice to heart. I am a black woman and feel like most of us on getting advice from a white woman, about how we should treat ours men, to keep them. I am going to say this, apparently we aren’t doing a good job over all in this area, not because we don’t know what to do, but because we let ours pride, and girl-friends advices, get in the way as well. We will always be students of life, it doesn’t matter whom the teachers are, if there something to be learn, then look into it, use what can benefit you and leave the others stuffs behind. I liked what Sax 123abc said, it’s a give and take.
But I can say that we started out giving and taking and then everything, become routine, and adding children into the equation, that’s another job, and most black women like I did had 2 full time jobs, and college in between, that means something is going to go lacking, and quest what. So, my advice to women is to take what you can apply to your relationship and see if there is a change in your man, and go from there. We forget what it took to get that man or woman, it’s going to take the same thing to keep them. The main goal here is to be happy and blessed with or without a mate.

It’s nothing wrong with doing all those things for a man that you are with BUT if you do all these things and get nothing in return you feel unappreciated and taken for granted. I think she gave positive advice to all of us. My best friend that is a man told me that a woman gets what she puts into the relationship. No you don’t have to baby your man but when he’s doing the small things for you just keep that thought in your mind and do something small and sweet in return. Its about loving each other and showing it and treating each other like equals. And trust me ladies, we don’t need to chase them down and be all selfconscious of ourselves. First off, some of these comments are funny as hell. Not all Black women are controlling and secondly, most black women DO know how to take care of their men. As far as the race thing goes, race was not sighted at all, however I will admit that I do have a problem with people dating outside of their race, only because the majority of people I have met, (notice I said, I have met) tend date outside of their race because they have self-hatred for themselves or they think that some how they are getting some prized possession when they date outside of their race, the same so-called issues you have with your own race, you can have with other races…so people let’s not get it twisted. Did I miss something or am I over seeing something. Her statement title was, ” Coco Gives Black Women Advice On How To Keep A Man!!” I just copied and paste. Now I am not hating on her but when you are dealing with our men you don’t come out and tell a black women how to keep her man. Its basically saying, “I know how to keep your own kind better than you, now let me show you how.” It became personal once she brought in an (adj.) “black” before the word “woman”. That means she was being very direct to the black woman. Now whether its a white man or black man it didn’t matter but it does when a statement is made to a black woman in that sense as if a black woman can’t keep a man, especially her own kind. Now I am a black woman with a black man and we have the same/exact relationship with out the celeb lifestyle and we are together 24/7 work and play and fuss and fight and I didn’t need any pointers on how to keep my man happy. I don’t think a white woman should tell a black woman how to maintain her relationship unless you are some doctor or some sort, because if the relationship is real it will stick no matter what you do or don’t do. So couples argue every single day and stay married, without the booty shorts, for 50years because that is the way they love.
