There are so many beautiful things about the African American race, like our beautiful skin tones, our amazing skills and talents, our aggressive competitive nature, our strong spirituality, our dedication to the ones we love, but there is a glaring problem that we must take responsibility for and change!

All violence is wrong and should end, but it is heart wrenching to continue to hear of innocent black people dying at the hands of their brother.

Now I am no fool and I understand the plight of a black man, I understand the conditions under which some black men are forced to live, but does it give them the right to be so angry and to kill? Too many African Americans believe that somehow they were wronged or the system is keeping them down, but that mentality only perpetuates the same situations and circumstances we are already in. So many have come before us to allow us equal rights as our counterparts and we are still making excuses. Our circumstances are only made worse by our perspective. If we can change our perspective we instantaneously change our circumstances. Now this is not to down play our past, instead I write this in hopes to change our future.

Here’s a story…..

I sat on the plane with a man whose father chose not to be in his life. His mother was forced to raise him and his brothers alone, and had difficulties keeping a job and providing for the boys. She did the best she could, but her children were forced to live in rough communities and get jobs at a young age to help keep the family afloat. The gentleman I sat next to, went to school, did well enough to earn a scholarship, and eventually became a doctor. He was headed to India to do research and provide free medical care! Now after reading this story you may think it was an African American man, but it wasn’t! It was a Caucasian man that believed that his situation was only temporary. He believed that it was only a matter of time before he would be doing something that would change his financial situation and forever bring him out of poverty!

Now why is this? Why did this man KNOW that things would change? We could say a lot of things……but the number one reason was his perspective!

Too many of us believe that our current situation is a definite indicator of our future. We don’t see it as a temporary place from which we WILL grow! If we continue to believe that we must live in the ghettos because our parents lived there, or because that’s where we belong, we will forever be an angry race blaming others for our situations.

A.J Jewell and Derrion Albert did not have to die, and even though I wasn’t at either scene, I already know what happened! I’ve seen it over and over again. Black men that care more about their shoes than the value of another human life! They care more about their reputation of being a thug than taking the high road and doing what’s right. We also must stop robbing one another for personal advancement. There are so many ways to make money in America and none of us have an excuse to steal or kill to provide for our families or for ourselves.

We must unite on this issue and change our perspective. Now I understand this is a major issue and I don’t want to simplify it by saying that we all can just change our circumstances in a day, but we are a beautiful race full of potential. When we all truly believe that, then and only then, will we reach our goals. We must realize that as we kill or steal from our brothers we essentially kill the spirit of our entire race!

“Now I am no fool and I understand the plight of a black man, I understand the conditions under which some black men are forced to live…”

This statement here debunks this whole article. This sisters says that she doesn’t know the plight of the black man which is evident because later on in this article she tells a story about a white man! She obviously like most nonwhites do understand the system of white supremacy. She is caught up in her own perspective of being a nonwhite female. Nonwhite females are purposely pushed ahead of nonwhite men especially when it comes to black women and black men.

Are white couples systematically targeted to fail?
    NO!

Is a white male targeted to fail in the school system starting in grade school?
    NO!

    Like Frances Cress Welsing said,
“How can we talk about Melanin and all it does and not be in love with crystal black?”

Are whites health systematically planned and set up to be poor health?
    NO!

To think right you have to eat right and be in good health.

Aren’t nonwhites tired of saying we have to try as twice(sometimes thrice) as hard as our white counterparts to get there? (“successful”)

Don’t you want a system of justice where those who need the most constructive help gets it?

To learn more about the system of white supremacy, I strongly suggest all nonwhites listen to The Cows show on blogtalkradio starting from the begin show to the most recent show:

    blogtalkradio.com/Victim-of-Racism

On this show you have plenty of white people admitting and breaking down the system of white supremacy. It takes alot of hours of listening and learnng but it brings clarity to the situation to nonwhites (especiall black people) everywhere. There other resources that talk about white supremacy and empowering nonwhite people, it’s just making one’s duty to find them. The Code by Dr.Neely Fulller Jr. and his lectures, Yurugu by Dr. Marimba
Ani, The Isis Papers by Dr. Frances Cress Welsing and her lectures, Any Dr. Amos Wilson lectures and/or books, Dr. Bobby E. Wright works.

If someone really wants to save black people just nonwhites period than the only choice is to work to end the system of white supremacy. There is no other way around it. This personal responsibility and individualistic thinking obviously isn’t doing anything for the betterment of black people as a whole. The system that nonwhites are currently living in is killing nonwhites, programming nonwhites to be insane and any other type of mistreatment you can think of. Stop buying the illusion of inclusion and the showcasing of a small minority of nonwhites and go after the source and cause of nonwhite dysfunction, white supremacy.

By the way, I came by starting my research because I wanted to understand the black man my counterpart and all that he goes through. Black men don’t tell black women everything about the world being on their shoulders and some black men don’t even understand why they are getting their ass kicked just by breathing. So because I wanted to prepare myself mentally as a wife and mother for my future family,I asked the universe to teach me and prepare me to understand my husband and everything my sons will be up against.

I know plenty of black men that all they want to do is take care of their family and if they are alone themselves. So I’m not going to let the media or “society” try to convince me other wise. There is a reason to all nonwhite dysfunction.

    Peace

” i think this story not happen only in chicago, but as well in very black community. we fight against one another for no reason after we regret. i’m really confident that we can change our behavior by putting the unconsious aspects and th old generation path we choose to follow ( gangsta mentality ) in the black community aside. we should focus in what make us better not what make us look silly.

“condolence to the family, brother who die in a tragic situation “

As a black man with a great income and family, I beleive the black man will become extinct. It appears the black man is going backwards not forward. I read all the time of some black men complaining about no jobs. The jobs are out there for skilled workers. I was eating breakfast one morning and I saw two young(18-21) black men filling out an application for employment. They had long dreds and pants hanging down to there butt. The two young men filled out the application and turned them into the lady at the front counter. When they exited the store the two women laughed and tore up the applications. Young black men take a look around you. The black woman is ahead of u in the workforce and leaving u behind. It’s time to stop blaming society and take a look at yourself in the mirror. Life is nothing but a game and u need skills to win, and i don’t mean a good jump shot.

“Saving The Spirit of Our Race”, I think the title should read “Regaining The Spirit of Our Race” because it’s pretty much gone.

First and foremost, those of us who have the means must make a sacrifice, and reach out and sponsor those that we know we can turn around that has got to happen until we start a domino effect of positive things, and those who are not willing to participate will get peter rolled and left on the outside lookin in.

Wait, wait, WAIT!!!! Stop allowing the media to make fools of you by convincing you to keep looking at black on black crime as a separate thing from crime in general. I hate when people write articles like this, proposing to “expand our consciousnesses” by interjecting someone from another race into a stereotypical upbringing usually associated with us. It completely ignores the prevalence and institution of racism in America. Sure, the Caucasian man had to struggle to get ahead, but the obstacles he had to face were never the same as the American Black man’s at any time, because some things would never apply. We are not a race blaming everyone else for our problems. We ARE a race fighting for our right to be left alone, to advance or fail based upon our own talents or shortcomings. We want the same liberties that other races seem privy to, but even in the 21st century, we still continue to fight for. Yes, it is unfortunate that some of our promising brothers fell to violence, but the issue isn’t a Black thing. It’s a violence thing–something that society as a whole has to work to eliminate. Did some of you forget that poverty breeds crime, and that we are still in a recession, despite having our officials tell us otherwise. Now, I recognize where the author of this article is trying to get to, masking the same defeatist ideals that hold us down within apologetic words and themes of “we can overcome”, saying that our survival is predicated on ending crime amongst ourselves. I say that true solutions are to teach ourselves fiscal responsibilty and flexibility, providing alternative solutions to achieving educations/occupations, and renewed interest in Black History courses in schools and the media. Maybe we could get BET to have more programs about BLACK PEOPLE! NO, get it twisted author. The Black spirit is an angry, fighting spirit–one that angry about people telling us that owning our own homes with the picket fences and other such American dreams are not ours’, and that we want to blame other races for things done long ago instead of for the continued oppressions of today. We’ve survived this far, and we will thrive tomorrow, no matter what you think. Holla!

It all boils down to education and exposure. The more exposure you get to life outside of your “world” the more you can see things from a different perspective. That is why traveling is so important. Even if its only a trip to the country back woods, or a trip to another city.

Education is another thing we must focus on. We need to promote it and live and die by it. Kids need to be taught in a relevant and interesting way.

eye RATHER teach “common sense” than “education” .
you can be an educated fool. and what about all the lies that books feed? without common sense and the ability to interpret “education” doesn’t mean a damn thing.

  • http://www.blackplanet.com/DAREALRECKLESS/ DAREALRECKLESS

looking at these comments is sad!! that is why eye say that black people “of today” are full of $HIT!
incidents like this one have been going on for years and years. WHY ARE YOU N!GGERS in an uproar NOW??????.
oh eye get it………..just like sean bell, just like that 9 year old black girl who was stabbed in Chicago last year, just like the HUNDREDS of black people that were killed by SENSELESS violence of the past years, YOU N!GGERS are ONLY in an uproar for about “five minutes”. EYE’ll come back in five only to find black women praising whitemen and black men praising big butt video h0es.(BACK TO NORMAL)
