UPDATE: First Lady’s Hairstylist “Pins Up” The Rumors

Recently Michelle Obama made women around the world consider updating their look by showing off a new hairstyle. Some people began to question whether this was a true cut or maybe just an up-do. Johnny Wright, Michelle Obama’s hairstylist was the only one who could put the speculation and rumors to rest and he did just that.

UBC Founder Ava DuVernay: Johnny, did you cut Mrs. O’s hair last night? Everyone’s talking about her new ‘do!

Johnny Wright: (laughing) No, no I didn’t. No, we’re not ready to cut yet. What is so funny is that her press secretary emailed me this morning about her own appointment just to get her hair done next week and she was like, “By the way, her hair looked amazing last night.” Then, someone later on said something to me about her hair last night.

AD: (laughing) So you are confirming that her hair has NOT been cut?

JW: No, I didn’t cut her hair. There are two things I do, the UP-TUCK and a TUCK-UP, which is when I take the hair and gather it all in the back and I twist it and I pull up and tuck. And that is what she got last night! A TUCK UP! Not a cut.

AD: Well, we loved it. And I even thought it gave a good indication of how fab she’d look with a short crop. You think that’ll ever happen?

Michelle Obama had a new look yesterday at the White House’s Country Music Night. She was sporting a new bob hairstyle, replacing her usual shoulder length styles.

    Alot of her critics are loathe to admit that she is an elegantly beautiful woman. The reason being is that she is a far cry from the European (Forced, accepted)standard. She radiates beauty without and within. I, for one, find it easier to view pics of our current 1st Lady, as she is more in keeping with what ought to be the accepted standard. I love all of my black sisters, and as the originator of aesthetic pursuits to enhance our already excellent physical appearance, am sincerely proud to have a woman like Mrs. Obama to present to my impressionable, black male children as a possible choice as a lifepartner. I applaud you, Mrs. Obama, for being the standard bearer for all that a black woman is, or can aspire to become!

    I liked the shoulder length hair better on Mrs. Obama, but she has very nice facial structure. So the short bob is nice but the shoulder length was much better look, in my opinion. :) Love the Obamas!!

    i think she is resting her real hair because it looks like a wig…black permed hair can’t take as much styling as other hair types..

    I like how she decided to step outside the box of the traditional hairstyles that most african american women wear. I think kitty32 is just mad because her hair can’t measure up to the healthiness and strength of michelle’s hair. Kitty32 you should take your own advice and stop using that swap meat s**t that is in your hair. Ugly hoes are so distasteful.
