I am not going to speak on the story because we don’t even know if this is at all true. These so called “reliable sources” are often not that reliable at all. I will however speak on some of the comments I have read. I am all for people having their preferences or whatever you want to call them but should we really be promoting these “preferences” if they are at the expense or feelings of a group of people? What I don’t understand about today’s society as well as the African American community is how we are becoming discriminating towards our own culture racially. The fact that the media as well as people from our society has depicted this image/representation of Blacks is disheartening, why should we feel the need to represent these false images. I mean lets motivate one another versus trying to throw bricks and be spiteful. I mean not all African American women are ignorant and love to keep of drama. Don’t generalize the entire population, instead realize that your experience or perception of an individual is created or developed through the environment in which you grew up upon. It has been reported in cases that racism is no longer a white and black thing, instead it is a same colored thing. And in this case it is, you have African American black men who have this image of black women as being negative, while its vice versa with black women. We have double standards within are race that are under looked and never really exposed as the contradiction and underlining problem. As a women, a black woman, I’m not mad at P-Diddy and I don’t feel the need to bash him; but what I will say is that this world has been dated back since early BC to have known human species that were of different skin colors. Embrace the ethnicities that this world offers versus trying to discriminate or prejudice towards a race. We have to all think logic and realize that their has to be a positive depiction of blacks that we must set for our younger black communities. It’s not really about the fact that Diddy may like fairer skinned women, the problem is why is he doing it? I typically don’t comment on these articles. I was both entertained and saddened by the comments of some of the people who commented. I actually used to be a fan of Diddy, and think that he is more of an equal opportunity dater. His children’s mother is a brown skin black woman. I don’t know what his motivations or reasons are for his request, but I actually don’t care. This is not “news” worthy information. If that’s his preference, that’s his prerogative. More power to him.

What saddens me about these posts are the misinformed and hurtful comments. These comments go to show that we can truly be our own worse enemy. The mass generalizations are appalling. 2 to 1 Black women graduate from college versus black men. I grew up in a household with my father and that doesn’t make me less or more angry than another black woman. If a person decides not to date a race of women because of generalizations and stereotypes than maybe we’re better off my black sisters. I want someone to be with me for me. I would hate to be in a relationship with someone because they are running away from something else.

Here are some truths:
1. Women are women. If they’re angry, they’re angry. If they’re passive, they’re passive. If they’re ignorant, then they’re ignorant.
2. Love yourself.
3. Give black love a chance. Our younger generations will not know how to love each other if we don’t model it.
4. With that said, love someone for who they are and not what they are.
5. Stop generalizing- this is a true sign of being closed-minded or ignorant.
6. True Beauty is not just skin deep.
7. Degrees don’t necessarily make you an intelligent or educated person. They make you a “degreed” person. Black people remember when we weren’t given access to education, go to school.
*And for the young man who is graduating with his degree in English- I have 2 degrees including a Masters in Educational Counseling. I advise you to research the facts before you purport to know what you’re talking about. That is a sign of a truly educated (an not arrogant) man. Best of luck, finding an eloquent, educated black woman. I encourage you to do some self reflection and work on your over inflated self image first.

Damn this guy really has a problem with black women. I thought the commercial where he requested only fair skinned women was an insult to his race but this is coming out again. I am a black, african woman originally from Tanzania but i have really light skin and most people woudnt even tell that i am from Africa, but rather think of me as biracial.
