She’s right. I’ve lived in different countries outside of America for most of the past ten years. That being said, I understand the mindset of other cultures. In Scandanavia, basically the whitest people on Earth, I received almost zero racism. However, in the Middle East, I’ve gotten far more than any in the Southern U.S.

While I respect everyone’s opinions on here, I have to caution tpmedia and others on being so appreciative of the country we live in. Malcolm X once spoke on how, while he didn’t like the white South African for apartheid, he had to respect them – because at least one knew exact where they stood – racist as their stance may be. Here, however, where a government covertly aided in pumping drugs into our community – and has acknowledged doing so only years after the fact – here, in a country where a government has lead its people into MULTIPLE wars without justification and through openly deceiving the public (research the beginnings of the U.S. involvement in World War I, World War II, Vietnam, and the most recent war in Iraq) – Here, in a country that ASSASSINATED Fred Hampton, Malcolm X, MLK, Medgar Evers, Bobby Sutton – I could go on forever – WE HAVE FORGOTTEN WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO US, AND IGNORE WHAT CONTINUES TO HAPPEN TO OUR PEOPLE. So yes, America does seem to be a great country – if you believe what you’re told and accept what is. I’m never afraid to admit that I love this country! I’m a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of 8 years and I’ve toured many different countries outside the U.S. and most Americans are f*cking whiny!!! We take so much for granted in this country. Prime example: Look at the show “Survivor” we see that as a game show but in most countries, that’s f*ckin’ life for some people. Yes, I think it was “messed up” to have only caucasian models on the cover of vanity fair, but that’s just one magazine out of how many others that freely give our women of color love. Think about how Tacora was one of the few black plus sized models to ever appear in ITALIAN VOGUE????? I think that is progress. Our country is pretty slow, but it’s not all THAT bad. I’m an African American opera singer, and if you know anything about that…our journey started much later.
