In the film, Ciara wants to sing. In reality, she clearly wants to act. Unfortunately, I don’t take anyone seriously who’s appeared in a cheerleading movie – that goes for Solange and Christina Milian, too. But, here’s the preview for Ciara’s second movie, “Mama, I Want To Sing.” It’s all too reminiscent of a young Lauryn Hill circa Sister Act 2 – except Sheryl Lee Ralph played the godfearing, unrelenting mother in that one (“Singing does not put food on the table, singing does not pay the billlls”), and instead, Lynn Whitfield fulfills that role here. But as stated, TIME Magazine says it’s one of this years best. What do you think?
