Mariah Performs On Oprah, Brings Nick Along

Oprah’s really on her grind. She’s queen of interviewing those making a comeback: first Whitney, then Jay, now Mariah.

Earlier today, as a part of Oprah’s live Friday concert series, Mariah Carey took to the stage at Central Park and, backed by a chorus line – you know, Mariah loves a robed choir behind her – brought the house down by singing the new single from her upcoming album. “I Want To Know What Love Is”  was originally sung by the band Foreigner and released in 1984, but Mariah’s cover is just as good. She brought her hubby Nick Cannon along for the interview, their first together as a couple, and looked casually cute in an all-black form-fitting outfit. Check the curly hair, too – circa “Vision of Love.”

    first of all..with all of the different engagements and obligation’s a performer must meet , a completely flawless performance isnt always attainable where her voice may have wavored it was her fourth octives at the end that prove my point mariah is one of the most talented artists out there even on a bad day she out shines alot of todays so called new super star’s

    yeah yeah yeah…im not a Mariah fan at all…if you’ve heard one of her albums youve heard em all in my opinion…(yes, like my azzhole im entitled to it!) My question is..Why in hell is Nick with her tagging along like 90% of the time???     I am a die-hard Mariah Carey fan, but i have been hearing this song since i was 3 years old, and her voice doenst do it the same justice as the original artist’s did. I also didn’t like her remake of the phil collins song: “take a look at me now; there’s just an empty space.” I don’t think that she has lost her touch, but i just never like it when she does other people’s songs, especially not male artists, because her voice is so unique. She needs to stick to only singing her own music. I mean, she did “I still believe” better than Benda K. Star did, but to me, Brenda was never much of a singer, and Mariah was her background singer at one point in time, so…

    Mariah Killed it!! The high pitched notes the end were legendary!!! There’s not many females singers out today that can bobble with those kind of notes! And they’re not too many old schoolers that can do that, maybe a few like Minnie Ripperton, Deniece Wiliams and a few others that I did’nt mention but she’s definitely amongst the greats. True Diva indeed……..

    She sounded pretty good. Definetely better than she has sounded in recent years. Another thing, am I the only one who thinks right here she looks just like she did back when vision of love came out? I was flipping thru channels when I saw this. I thought it was an old performance for a few seconds.

    One of her better performances, but I am not impressed..She’s always come across as forced, unnatural…Almost like the Jim Carrey (he is SUCH an over-actor, but I love him anyway) of singing…Such an (supposedly)incredible talent, seems that everything she’s ever done post-Vision of Love is just barely palatable…I grew up in the church…I know DOZENS of women who can sing circles around her any day of the week..Guess I am spoiled :)

    Not really impressed, Mariah’s live perfomances are just boring and sometimes awkward and she looks like she struggling to get some of them notes out. Back in the day Mariah was my favorite singer-even over Whitney-today…not so much. Her voice just doesn’t sound as great as it did. and hitting a few high notes doesn’t make you the best singer, sorry to tell you people. But I hope her next album is better than the last few-cause i’m wasn’t feeling none of them. Can we get thebold Mariah back…

    This comment section ain’t American Idol, so some of you can stuff your opinions on her performance, unless you can do better, and you know you can’t. Having said that, I wish she realized that even a nut like her could do better than that philandering nerd that she’s with. They look like an odd couple and I’m looking forward to the day they break up. I bet Urkel will cheat on her like he did on Christina Millian. Live it up, Mariah, because when it doesn’t work out, back to the nut house for you.

    What are yall talking about? I think they look happy together! I’m glad to see Mariah happy, she seemed depressed and was single for too long! Her last famous relationship was probably back in 1999-2001 when she was dating some Spanish singer Luis Miguel. And Nick does have some money in the bank, he was a rapper, actor, directed her video, and is presently the host of Americas got talent. Those are some achievements! It’s not all about money, if it was Mariah would be married to someone richer or perhaps uglier since all the good ones are taken (t.i etc) Nick seems like he has been treating her good and I hope they last a long time cuz break-ups are not in style anymore!
