I thought Keri did ok for her first live performance, She will get better with time. As for Beyonce and Ciara, they were very good and their performance displayed another style/emotion, other an shaking and bouncing around on stage. Lil Wayne and Drake was a disappointment. It was a total waste of time and BET should make a more logically decision about what rap artist should be performing at the awards show, because young children and teens are watching thinkin that sh*t was cool, but it showed a lack of creativity. But thats just my opinion. take it or leave it.

i didn’t understand the little girls either. i had to take a second look. and there was alot of bleeps you heard more bleeps than the song. as far as the other performances, i did like monica and keyshia coles performance. the beyonce performance wasn’t odd to me because i think she was representing an angel. the baby boy tribute was funny because that was so unexpected. i liked the show.

Obviously due to the extremely short time BET &/or all of the performers who did their thing on the awards show had to adjust to the shocking and tragic death of Michael Jackson,it was difficult to pull this year’s show off right cause it was rediculous to me!! Some performances or skits were cool,but Don Cornellius,with all due respect,bout put me to sleep,I respect the fact that he is elderly or whatever,but because of that they should have accomodated him better than they did cause it was clear that he could barely see the prompter…and I felt sorry for him a little.

The best performances for me were Jamie Foxx and Ne-Yo. The O’Jays and Tevin Campbell. Tevin Campbell can actually sing and he looked great. Ciara gives new meaning to the phrase…Being seen and not heard. She can’t sing, she should have just danced. Keri, I don’t like her or her music, her performance was horrible. I feel the Awards show should have had more class. Some acts should have been left out.

I realize they had to revamp the show so I won’t complain to much. I will say they had to do too much censoring. Being that they were honoring Michael I would have thought it would have been a little classier. I don’t care what anybody says Beyonce was on point, the best performance hands down. She may not have sung an MJ song but her performance was a tribute nonetheless. It was a beautiful goodbye. I would have liked to see more performances to MJ songs but it was short notice & to be honest not everyone can do an MJ performance the way it should be done.

First off, the show was doomed from the start with Jamie Fox hosting it; then to add to the ugly pie, they mixed in NeYo and then they stirred in a little bit of Joe Camel! Chris Breezy would’ve been literally a breath of FRESH air and much easier on the eyes!!!

Hello Everyone, Lets not forget that B was paying her respects and that song is very beautiful (the light at the end of the tunnel was tearful). I think Chris B should have performed that would have been great he is a fan and had the right to be there, J might have more power but S**t he wasnt no MJ so if everyone else ok’d CB to be there HE SHOULDV’E been there. That was alot of NE-YO’s plate he could barely hold it together (hell id feel the same way) but in the end everyone was there doing what they felt was there best(I hope). I knew the whole show would suck when Jamie Foxx overhyped about it. The Keri hilson performance sucked! When Drake performed, it was good. It was just sad that even when he censored the profanities, it was a watse of time since weezy came out and cussed throughout the song like there weren’t any adults or any children present.

The rap performance by Lil Wayne and Drake was wrong and very inappropiate for this show. I don’t care how big or great you think you are but you should know how to respect people. New Edition was good, I see Bobby gained a little weight but they did a good job. the O’Jays was great.

I totally agree with samsthewon. What was Ving Rhames doing? Was he high? Was he drunk? He did not honor to M.J. I also appreciate BET efforts in trying to honor M.J. but they should have left some of that stuff. Beyonce’s wedding gown had NOTHING to do with M.J. nor did Jamie’s vulgar remarks in the beginning of the program. Plus: the Moonwalk is one of M.J.’s trademark, if Jamie couldn’t do it, he should have learned or got a kid up there to do it well. Jamie was a poor host if that’s what you want to call him. The OJAYS tribute and the Ojays themselves were good but I think Janet’s appearance laid all the BS to rest and made the BET awards worth watching. Overall, poor tribute to our Michael and SADLY,it LOOKED LIKE it was done in 3 days.

A Tribute to Michael Jackson? More like a promotion of Jamie Foxx (did you hear those plugs about his concert). He came off as a buffoon and a pretender. It was the most disrespectful display for anyone that has died. The Lil Wayne performance was one of the worse displays of trash and vulgarity ever seen on BET. I think BET did a good job in the time that they had why is everyone always so critical, yes I did not quite understand Beyonce in her performance or keri but come on I thought it was a over all good show because it brought back so many memories. Ving Rhames actions was very disrepectful to BET’s tribute to Michael Jackson. He really showed himself. I just could not believe that he got up there and was disrepectful like he was. You’d think for one night a person could act like they had sense. It was very moving seeing Janet on there, my heart goes out to her and her family.

Yeah I have to agree with everyone else that they really needs to redo the BET Awards Show in tribute to Michael Jackson,because Michael Jackson needs to be really respected and tributed way and I mean way better than that.They need to respect my true hero and idol better than that.I was shaking my head and putting my hand in my face especially when New Edition sounded bad and Bobby Brown really messed it up for the rest of them.But I have to say that the dance near the end was good better the singing was terrible.

If you think the BET Awards was anything less than a genuine attempt to recognize, honor, and pay homage to the single greatest entertainer of our time, then you turned it on w/ hate in your heart. There were definitely some mis-hits, but how could there not be w/ such little time to flip it. Michael deserved simply to be honored genuinely, not honored perfectly because that would be impossible. No one show could EVER capture, embody, or rep ALL that he was/is to us. BET is Black Entertain, Michael is Black Entertainment, they had an obligation to step up. But I figure if they hadn’t I’d be reading comments complaining about that too, huh?

Now regardless of whether or not New Edition pulled off a stellar performance, how do you celebrate MJ w/ out them. I was about 14 when I first recall hearing NE’s Candy Girl. Ralph Tresvant back then sounded a lot like a young Michael, and they were being touted as the second coming of the Jackson 5. Sure their voices have weakened over the years but the rest of the performance wasn’t so bad. Either way, the comparison and connection all but guaranteed them a seat at the table. Same for Tevin Campbell, these days he’s widely referred to as a gay crackhead, but Quincy Jones introduced him to the world as the next Michael Jackson, so again because of the comparison and connection he had to be there.

Beyonce’s gear, award shows have always been as much about the costume as they are about the performance. Ciara’s song, she simply doesn’t have the pipes of a balladeer, but she gets credit for trying at such an emotional and difficult time. Drake, Lil Wayne, and Cash Money– Uhh, ok I’ll give you that one, hahaha. All I can say is that was for the fans. Drake is a popular, up and coming cat making noise it makes sense that BET would showcase him. Lil Wayne sold more rap records this past year than any other cat in the game, so he earned a seat at the table – blame yourself or your kids for buying that damn record, hahaha. And frankly, I didn’t know Cash Money still made music, but I was never a fan, so that was just a shock.

Check it out, don’t mistake bland, solemn, flavorless, and dead for being classy or dignified. What you witnessed was a celebration. It was upbeat, it was funny, and other than a few questionable performances, it was indeed Black Entertainment.

Hell, Day 26 was right there (Big Mike could have been Tito). Tevin Cambell’s voice was not suited for an Ojay’s song, but would have sounded good doing…guess what??.. a damn tribute to Michael Jackson!!!!! I know they did their best to pay tribute to michael but they were all horrible and could have done better maybe if usher or chris brown were at the bet awards they could have done a great tribute to michael jackson!

I think that they were ok due to what happened so unexpectedly. They had to put a new show together in a couple of days so it wasn’t going to be perfect. I just think everyone was in shock so from that stand point I thought that the awards were ok, not terrible.

Well for starters, Weezy sucked as always, and drake was awful as well…no energy and I would never pay to see either, or any rapper now and days for that matter. But I will say this, apparently Beyonce’ has been taking voice lessons cause that was actually a not so bad preformance on here part this time. Ciara was exposed finally, no voice what so ever, just a really flexable preformerand that’s all she will ever be.

Chris Brown was going to perform. I think they were going to do Thriller. Jay-Z shut that down. Reportedly, Jay told BET if Chris was allowed to perform, that neither he nor Beyonce would perform.

According to Jawn, Bey was slated to open the show but was a “diva” and wanted to sing “I’ll Be There,” but BET wanted something more upbeat. This is why she went in the middle of the show. Hence, NE opened the show. The sound was bad but I like their performance. Okay, I heading to the gym.

Typical tasteless hiphop music award show. I wasn’t surprised. Losers can’t even put their own agenda aside for a second to do a clean show in tribute to MJ. How anyone can even think of paying money to see these fools walk back and forth across the stage holding their privates, pants saggin’, no musicians, no talent onstage all unorganized, is beyond me.

Great moves by New Edition however, the vocals could have been previously recorded so that they wouldn’t be challenge to perform during such an exhausting number. And of course to allow them to sound better. Loved watching them though.
