I don’t think that it was about her not being supportive. When you are married and have two children but it seems like you are single raising two kids because hubby works all the time it causes strain in the relationship. Obviously, she stayed with him so that’s not something that should be focused on. Everyone goes through trials. Everyone complains at some point or another. They are human just like the rest of us.

How on earth would the author know the private events of their marriage. I’m sure they do disagree and argue. But how does the writer know?

Being in a book doesn’t make it true, being true doesn’t mean it’s context is correct, and we all damn well know they are not perfect without it being written. As i see, we focus BS to keep us entertained instead of what’s important – the effing TRUTH, Alyson.

Everybody who is married or in a relationship have had there share of problems. That’s a part of the relationship. Either you work things out or move on. Barack and Michelle or human just like everybody else, why is this making headlines.

I think I heard this about them earlier around election time. There is nothing wrong with having disagreements that is a part of life. If there is no confrontation there is no growth. Either way the past is the past and it appears they are doing outstanding now.

The more I find out about them the more I like them. Never before have I *met* a politician who is more down to earth and real and is not talking bullish and does not act like everything in his life or in the world is perfect and he has no flaws. I do hope that Obama will set an example for alot of generations and leaders to come. Right now we have the election for the European parlament coming up and because I am so disappointed in all our German leaders I do not even want any of them being in the parlament. It is good to see that there is one politician who is different. More power to Obama, every single day with every new thing I hear about him he becomes more sympathetic to me.

Kountry…for your information MICHELLE was making WAY more $$ than Barack, baby! It’s a well known, fact. Did you see their well publicized income statement LAST year?? Oh and let’s not forget that SHE was HIS boss at work. THAT’s how and WHERE he met her! So, suffice it to say baby boy–SHE put her life on hold, birth and had his babies and was the one paying ALL the bills and basically raising his beautiful seeds alone…while he was off trying to set his political career on high! So, you tell me what [high powered] woman in her right mind, wouldn’t be mad? He owed her and he knew he owed her and is doing EVERYthing in his power to make it all up to her as he should! Honestly? What are you talking about? This is not even a secret. When asked about their marriage during the campaign trail Michelle has said in many interviews that when Barack was running for office in 2000 and away from the family all the time their marriage had difficulties. They never claimed to be perfect but they have obviously moved past that stage of their marriage and they are doing pretty well now. I dont think its good journalism to drag up ‘stories’ about things that have already been covered and act like we’re supposed to be interested. You wouldnt be surprised about this if you had been watching the news.

It’s really nice that we get to see the human side of Barack and Michelle. This is one of the big reasons why our country has fallen in love with this family and this president. Because they’re not afraid to expose their vulnerabilities, and show us that the President of the United States and the first lady are human just like you and I. This family is for real, and this president is one of the best our country has ever seen.

Its amazing that people dig in so far to find ways that can be used to discredit the Obamas. Where was the scrutiny in the life styles of Bush when he was in office letting the US run into the ground? I think that in itself shouldve been grounds for impeachment!! Nobody pursued his history of alcohol and drugs prior to the presidency and said “We are letting a ex addict run our nation!!!”. Obama came into a situation that where he’s one man trying to stop an avalanche. Im proud that he’s actually attmeptin to do what he promoted and wasn’t just spouting stuff to get into office, no matter what his marriage or personal life has been like prior to now.

I love the Obamas, they seem like the ideal neighbors to have… they always look so “normal” in their pics.. unlike certain celebs…. they dont look plastic..

If they did have issues, they have overcome them, which gives hope to those who think their marriage is failing. Everyone goes through rough periods, nobody and no situation in life is perfect. Marriage won’t always be a bed of roses. But if you persevere, you could end up with a love like The Obama’s.

But that’s something normal how relationships can be strained by overwhelming work especially with an addition on the way… it makes it difficult, and they should talk about it and praise them for making it work and coming out on top stronger than ever.

Well i can finally say i agree with something and hellobeautifuleditor has contributed. They are human and as such are prone to mistakes the fact that they had the courage and strength to work through their problems is what makes them remarkable as it would any other couple who has faced down problems and have successfully managed to keep their marriage together happily. I applaud the Obamas for being exemplary and providing precedence that shows how the power of love can withstand any problems. And let me go further to say that if the only thing Barack Obama and as an extension Michelle Obama succeeds in doing while being president is to supply hope to people, to inspire change and motivate young black people like myself wherever they may be to aspire to greater heights than is the norm then he has done a hell of a lot more than is expected or anticipated of any president before and i suspect after him.
