laila4Radio One Raleigh is proud to announce that Laila Ali will be the keynote speaker for Women’s Empowerment 2010. This year’s event is scheduled for March 20th at the RBC Center.

Women’s Empowerment is Radio One Raleigh’s largest and most anticipated event. Year after year, thousands of African American women (and men) come to Women’s Empowerment for an entire day of education, entertainment and empowerment.

Created in 1994, in honor of Women’s History Month, Women’s Empowerment was designed to enhance the lives of African American women by addressing issues that specifically impact their “health, hearts and pocketbooks.” Throughout the day, this expo-styled event offers seminars, workshops, demonstrations, sampling, and shopping.

Learn how to be a young successful leader in school, business and within your extracurricular activities from two of today’s top young leaders Angela & Vanessa Simmons from the Hit MTV Shows “Run’s House” and “Daddy’s Girls.”

So many people take things out of context, but i have been to woman’s empowerment over the years and it is so fun. There are all types of venders, selling things from make-up to t-shirts and any other thing that revolves around women today like weight loss, black business and on top of having powerful speakers, they have a concert with a wide range of artist. Also the reason they choose certain people to come is because they are doing something positive with there lives, Not because things are going wrong with there personal relationships. So many people already degrade the black community its nice to have a whole event that uplifts the hearts and minds of generations ahead of us and after. And dag some of these same people writing negative comments I wonder what u do for a living, post something positive for a change. Hi hater!

ROTF! @ odoggz comment… ‘fetch me a sammich’

That is one women that i wouldnt mind getting a few hits from… as long as she kisses it and makes it allll better ;) man i love her!

(ahem) sorry i just had to say that… i think the Laila Ali is ffiiinne! …but um, i know i dont have much on womens empowerment and all but … how are the Simmons sisters are TOP young leaders? sorry, they were already empowered and uplifted… not trying to hate, just stating that glamor doesnt have to show its empowerment… im sure there are plenty of ‘behind the scene’ or ‘not so glamorous’ women that could start an example. dont take it wrong they seem like good role models, just trying to make a point that celebrity doesnt equal success.
Laila had her own business and raised money before she went into boxing…
