I’ve been waitin for this movie to come out so i can see it! But i just realized something and have a question…Why are all the saviors in this movie light skinned people.

That’s what I was wondering. I love all my people but why is it that light skinned people are knowledgeable of self worth and inner beauty in this movie? We don’t have any darker skinned sisters that feel the same way?

This looks like it’s going to be a great movie! Even the previews have me choking up a bit. @ Luxurious_02. You make a great point sweetheart. Even the previews prove your point. In this day and age I hope I don’t ever see a day where dark skinned blacks have to overcome negative stereo types handed down from light skinned blacks! Especially after all we had to overcome and endure both dark and light skinned, from white people! Willie Lynch….Willie Lynch!

Does it matter? smdh always about race never about the true point…… Get it together for real!!!

This movie has been LONG AWAITED for myself and many. I have not had the opportunity to read the book but hear it is PHENOMENAL and I anticipate nothing less from the movie. Gabourney seems like such a nice and intelligent young lady. Unfortunately I doubt we will ever see her in a leading role again because Hollywood is so “image driven” and she does not look the part. The reality is with blacks there is a disparity between light skinned and dark skinned…Sad but true. Luxurious_02 is absolutely right. Dark skinned men have paved their way but I don’t see it happening for women anytime soon. If so, India Arie would be a 10 time grammy winner and Angela Bassett would have had a couple Oscar’s by now.

You should read the book before you see the movie….
