PASS OR FAIL: Cassie’s “Skydiver”

In July 2009, Cassie announced that her second album’s title would be “Electro Love.” She explained: “It’s basically the sound of the album. It’s not supposed to be taken so literal. ‘Electro’ could be like house and techno, but that’s not what it is, but it’s definitely a dance album. I just wanted it to be a reflection of that and the vibe of the music. It has that love song feel to it, but accompanied by that specific beat.”

Three singles have been released; “Official Girl” featuring Lil Wayne in August 2008, “Must Be Love” featuring Diddy in April 2009, and “Lets Get Crazy” featuring Akon in August 2009. Thus far, all singles have failed to succeed commercially. “Electro Love” is scheduled to be released in 2010.

    Sorry, but the girls voice is just so annoying, bottom line the girl is a pretty chic, shes a good model, but she CANT sing!!!!!

    OK I usually dont post comments but Cassie sorry baby singing is not for you!!! Everyone does not have a god given voice!! Hate to say this but stay with Modeling…it works for you!

    Its not a club banger but its also not super annoying..I honestly can say the drop sounds better without her voice on it but I can tell she worked on her vocals too so I dunno yall kinda torn..I guess I’ll give her an E for effort and soul seek the song. Sorry Cass..

    Eh….it’s ok….sound like studio magic to me but ummmm if THREE singles failed to achieve commercial success why would they release a FULL ALBUM? **scratches temple** She should stick to modeling and leave the “singing” to professionals. There are ‘professionals’ who can’t sing either but that’s for another discussion board……

    I actually like the song, Cassie is not that bad, yeah she is better at modeling and singing but she’s no different than other singers like T-Pain i mean come on you can’t tell me that this man can actually sing. But we love him ( notice I said we, i’m a big fan of t-pains) So cut the girl some slack and evidently she likes what she does.

    @Tweetnin T-Pain has swag and a personality Cassie has neither and he can come up with som great hooks.

    That song was actually pretty decent but let’s be real Cassie sold 300,000 with her first album and she is only releasing a second album because she was Puffy’s girlfriend otherwise she would simply model his clothing line.

    i don’t hate on her completely. she obviously didn’t write or arrange this, but not anyone can go into a studio and execute someone’s direction and come out with a product. i don’t think the song is bad and i don’t think she’s completely talentless. computers and production equipment can do alot of things, but it can’t sing a song. i think it’s great, but the problem is the fact that her edgy look and bad boy branding made ppl hav higher expectations and now everyone hates her.

    My Mom told me a long time ago, if you have nothing nice to say don’t say anything at all. I am sure others have heard it too. It really doesn’t take much to be nice. As for Cassie, I think she sounds good on this track, she is talented and she is given the chance to extend her talent. While it may not be everyone’s opinion, it is a mature thing to say something nice instead of discouraging a remarks to someone who is pursuing his or her dreams. Cassie, all the best in your endeavors.

    The beat is nice, gets you moving but the hook is kinda buried under it. Cassie ain’t the most exciting singer to listen to but her voice works for this type of song.
