Beyonce inspires me because she does the impossible. Many neglect to take risk and experiment with what they love to do for fear of not being accepted or respected. Not Beyonce. She has very boldly told the world, I don’t walk to your beat, I create my own. With passion and determination she does not fear the unknown but yet embraces it. In doing this she has fulfilled the entire essence of success.

My mother inspires me to be a better mother & a better person. My mother had breast cancer twice and survived it. She always gives her all and continues to fight every day. She enjoys life to the fulliest and the way she takes on challenges is just amazing to me. I love my mom dearly and i hope one day i can be an inspiration to my daughters, as she is to me.

Only person that inspires me is my mom so many times we had disagreements. When I was hurted and betrayed by some people she pick me up. My mother risk her life for me to be in the best schools and to do things on my own. She taught me to value my self worth that I do not have to deal with less just because a person might like me. Her character is strong she overcame obstacles that made me the women I’am today. We even pray together it helps. I love my mom she the best she encourgment in my life she the reason I’am still here she keep me going.

Me, myself, and I is whom I admire. My ambition, inner-strength, and self-starting capabilities are just a few characteristics that I like about me. Most importantly, I love how being what I perceive to be the best inspires others to reach their full potential or better. I learned early that “your attitude determines your altitude” and I must say: my attitude is my best quality. Self-esteem is what I instill in others and maintain daily.

My grandmother inspires me. She taught me the importance of family, and how a man can be my backbone in a home but she also taught me “if a man aint there, you better pick up the slack”. She the story teller in my family and with six children she made it on her own in this country (from Jamaica). She is now a multi home owner, a mother, a sister, and the best grandma to 22 grand kids.

Out of all the people who ran in and out of my life, I would say my mother because she and my brother are only the family I have in this country and the rest is outside of the country. She came here when she was 16 and only had two pairs of underwear and an one red dress. I admit I was hard head and reckless and Thought I knew everything and broken her heart and dissappointed her, and clean her dried. She inspires me to be strong will and independent and always love your family no matter what because who else will be on your death bed. I wish I can give her so much for all the trials and errors I created for her. So I say thankyou mom for standing by me and never looking past me but for me. LOVE YA!

My mother contracted MS, the beginning of last year. She never once complain or shown a time of weakness. She always kept her head held high, and smiled and thank the Lord everyday for another day. I love that she still believes in living, and believes that you should live life to the fullest. When they asked her to give up her license, because her episodes where liable to hurt her and others on the road, she held strong. I might not seen a tear in her eye ever, but I know it hurt her so to know that she had to rely on others to help her. She I believe in lack of a better word, is the best one for the nomination. Not because she has MS, but because she doesn’t let anything stop her from reaching the top, and that she will forever be the most “Phoenomal Woman” to me.

The woman I am most inspired by is Barbara McClintock. She is one of pioneers in the field of bioengineering. I am working towards a biomedical engineering degree from Pennslyvania State University and I am faced with some of the challenges that she faced from her male peers. I look up to her for her work in genetics at Cornell and her major research breakthroughs. Even though her male peers had disdain and animosity towards her leading to her being fired, she found the strength and courage to continue her work in genetics earning her a Nobel Prize. Her life story and dedication has inspired me to go and finish this last year in undergrad and go to bigger things, I hope to make a difference and be half the woman she has turned out to be.

I am grateful for all the women in my life such as my mom and my grandmother. However, I have faced many adversities and but kept working towards my goals. I graduated in May and immediately tried to find a job in my field of sociology. I kept getting turned down,I was involved in an accident, my roommate moved out due to a new job and I was forced to work a part time job in conjuction with my full time job. While working two jobs and applying for state jobs and playing piano for my church, I still fell behind on bills and was close to losing my apartment. I realized with the job market in its current condition, my best option was graduate school. I started working on my Master’s in Counseling in Oct. I have maintained an A average and God blessed me with a job as a manager for an agency that helps people with intellectual disabilities that I will start in a few weeks. I hope to get back on my feet within the next few months. In the last 9 months, I have learned that if I lose everything but still have Jesus, that’s enough to start all over again. I only made it because of God’s grace and determination.

I’m inspired with myself; I started having children at 15 years old. Now a single parent of five children and seven grandchildren. For 32 years I have never spent $100.00 on myself; I focused on my children and the household. They wore decent clothes and I shopped at the thrift store for myself. Still today I struggle to make ends meet; I can not afford to buy myself new clothes or anything else a woman desires. I deserve to win because this would be a life time experience and well rewarding for the sacrifices I made for my children.

The Women who I admire the Most is My mother. Her soul of a strong black women. Her smile inspires me to be the women I will soon become. A Nurse of 16years, she raised my brother and I to be our self, shoot for the stars and never forget where you come from. She has the drive to take care of those around her, before herself and that’s why I believe she deserves this. She’s not just my mother she’s my ear when i need to vent, shoulder to cry, my heart, soul and most of all my best friend. Thank you

The woman i amire would be my mother because she is a strong black woman. The reason she is a strong black woman is because she raised five kids all by herself. she went without things just to sacrifice for us. when my dad went off to prison for five years she stuck by him and she stuck by us. She lived and still lives a christian lifestyle and i think thats part of the reason she made it because without god nothing is possible. I think she deserves this shopping spree to make up for some of the times she couldnt buy things for herself and also its her birthday today. Thanks i appreciate the oppurtunity.

I am most inspired by my 2 daughters. They turned out 2 be everything i wanted them 2 be honor roll students, one in college the other last year of high school & given the fact that black young females these days struggle with teenage pregnancies, peer pressure, drugs, domestic violence etc…I had a very good upbringing and i still managed 2 make some bad decisions in my life but no matter the obstacle i was always family oriented & tried 2 instill the importance of family values & morals to my girls & i guess i did a good job cause they have made me the proudest single parent alive so hats off 2 my 2 queens i love you dearly & mommy`s so proud of you girls keep pushing forward & remember that knowledge is power & ignorance is not tolerated EVER there is nothing you can`t do if you put your mind to it nothing worth having is gonna be handed 2 you …you have 2 work hard 4 it than you will appreciate it even more YOU ARE MY DAILY INSPIRATION

I admire my mother. She is my king, my queen, my everything. Growing up she was the man and woman of the house. She inspres me to excel and go well over and beyond what she has accomplished in her life. She often helps out with my daughter while I attend school and work. She was and is the provider, shoulder, friend, and disciplinary that I need to help me continue on. She supports me in whatever I do. She is my king, queen, my everything.

I admirer myself because I am 27 years old and a single mother of 2 daughters one is 9yrs and the other is 10mos, and I’ve been taking care of my sick mother for years. I am the mom and the dad to my kids. I do everything I can to make sure my family have what they need. I think I’m doing good as a single mother because my daugther is a A,B student, best all around student, and a very outstanding student in her school. I go to work every day to provided a good life for myself and my family. Some days I want to give up and say forget it, but at the end of the day I know my kids and my mom needs me. And I know their depending on me to pull the family through.

There is not just one woman I can say I admire but a few who inspired me to become the woman I am. They are all from different backgrounds and all different nationalities. The first one is my mother, a strong black/multi racial woman, who graduated from high school at the age of 16 yrs old, got married that same year, was left with three small children at the age of 19 and went on to become a RN and raised her three children to be successful in their endeavors. She passed away in 2001 of a brain hemorrhage. The next one would be an ex- boy friends Hispanic mother, who taught me to love myself more then a man, even if the man was her son. To live my life by God’s principles and never give up on my dreams. And the third is my God mother, a small frame white woman who raised me to be a strong, intelligent, respectful, God- serving woman, when I was 25 yrs old. I call this woman my God mother because, God sent her to me at a time in my life when I was homeless, just got out of an abuse marriage and pregnant with my fourth child. This woman loved me when I couldn’t love myself, let me become a part of her family, help heal the hurt in my heart and pushed me to go to college, finish and become a Social worker. She loved me unconditionally and still does. I just got out of the hospital for having skin grafts because of being burn as a child on 85 % of my body. This had been a long process over the last few years. She has stopped her life to be with me each time I go through one of these procedures. She is a truly inspirational and I admire her for looking past my race, background or status in life and being able instill what it is to be a REAL Woman.

WELL I ADMIRE MYSELF BECAUSE I STARTED HAVING CHILDREN AT 14YRS OLD. I HAVE TWO GIRLS AND TWO BOYS AGES 21,19,17 AND 16. MY CHILDREN ARE MY WORLD AND I WILL FIGHT TOOTH AND NAIL FOR THEM. I HAVE MADE A DECENT HOME FOR THEM BUT WE HAVE HAD OUR ROUGH TIMES BUT WE ALWAYS MADE IT THROUGH AS A FAMILY. I HAVE GIVEN UP ALOT SO MY KIDS CAN HAVE THE THINGS THEY NEEDED. I AM STILL GIVING UP THINGS I NEED FOR MY CHILDREN AND MY TWO YEAR OLD GRANDSON CAN HAVE. I AM NOT A SELFISH PERSON I RATHER GO WITHOUT SO THAT MY FAMILY CAN HAVE THE THINGS THEY NEED THE MOST. I GUESS THATS JUST HOW MY GRANNY TAUGHT ME AND THATS WHY I ADMIRE MYSELF.

I admire my mother. She passed away December 10, 2008. My mother made the ultimate sacrifice by staying with my dad during his drug addiction and raising 4 kids at the same time. She always made sure we had what we needed. By her example I was able to raise my 2 year old son with love and kindness. My son always has what he needs but sadly I do not. I am in the process of trying to find a new job to help support us better and I can do that if I win the Shopping Spree. Please help StyleBoost.

Hi my name is Shay and I nominate myself for the shopping spree because after the past couple of years of losing my three kids because of an abusive relationship surviving my numerous sickle cell crises’ and my two and four month old going in and out of the hospital. I need to revitalize my self esteem in myself for myself. I let a man continue to cheat and get into fights with him because I depended on him for money, stability, and what I thought then love. Just because I thought that he was someone that would only deal or have me. But with prayers I got my kids back and another importance myself back. Im still without my own place because of him but with prayer and you guys i’ll get the “boost” that I need and soo deserve.(got my babies back yall) ;)

  • http://www.blackplanet.com/lashonnaf1983/ lashonnaf1983

I would have to nominate myself. I am a 27 year old single mother of 3, I have been living from house to house since I was 17. I have lived in a homeless shelter and gotten off my feet, right now I am staying with one of my sister because we have no place to go, I used to stay with my other sister but she took all my money and put me out as soon as she got her hands on it. I have a 8, 6, and 20 month old children. I have been trying to find a job since September of 09, I was let go from my last job as an answering service operator because I had the flu and that same week we got new management. I do not have any clothes and need clothes to be able to find work so that we can have our own place and not have to stay in a one bedroom apartment where my kids have to sleep on the floor. The thing that keeps me going is the fact that I am taking classes to get a associate degree for medical coding and billing. I am really struggling and in need of some clothes. My 2 oldest kids father doesn’t help with anything he is married now and has moved on with his life, my youngest son father has congestive heart failure and is on disability and I never get a chance to be with him because of this and have also had to give up a job to take care of him. I also take care of my 5 year old niece while her mom lives it up. Its pretty hard but I would do anything for my children they are my world and I would like to give them better, I am hoping that we do not have to return the shelter again, because I don’t know if we can handle it again.

I probably don’t deserve it anymore than any of these other deserving people. But for the past two years I’ve been through a lot, I lost my best friend, my girl, from Cervical cancer, she introduced me to so many things like collecting, antiqueing and I miss her more every day. My sister-in-law who taught me how to sew when I was 10, it was her influence that made me go on and get my degree in Fashion Design. My brother married her when I was only seven and they were married for almost 50 years, she died from Loopus after years if complications. My niece died from breast cancer, leaving two children behind and her brother my nephew from Pancreatic Cancer less than 24 months later. What makes it even worse is that I have two sisters currently living with breast cancer. I’m so tired of losing the people I love. If I won the shopping spree, I would take my sisters shopping if they’re strong enough to go. I just want to lift their spirits doing something like that would definately lift mine. I’m not sure that one of them would even be up to it, but if there is something special she would like before departing, I would like to be able to make sure that she gets it. What can you really do for someone who is dying but try to make them comfortable and a little happier before they go. There are times when everything seems unbearable, sort of like waiting for the other shoe to drop. I cannot begin to express the stress and strain I live with daily, but it pales in comparison to what they’re experiencing. I also want to wish everyone else luck too, we’ve all had it hard and everyone who entered this contest has my blessing.

I would really have to say that i inspire and nominate myslef. Im not saying ive had the worst life out there beacuse it is not true there r more people suffering in this world then me but my life has never been as sweet as i would have wanted. I am 22 years old, a mother of one and i believe i have over came a whole lot of obsticals in my life time. As a young child i went throught life not really knowing who my real parents where and to this day i still have no idea being that i was adopted a birth because my birth mother was too young to care for me. Gowing up i was all ways told i was adopted but never really paid much attention to it because if parents arent telling me then it wasnt true. At 12 when my father passed away it really took a blow to my heart becuse i was closest to him the most. Once my father passed that when most of my life took a down turn. my mother got involed with a man who was abusive and really could care less about us only our weath from my father. I dealt with moving from pillow to post to homless, from family members using me, doubting me in geting my HS diploma it really brought me down. Recently i lost my mother she passed last year and left us with nothing just a headace ,she had no life insurnce and signed everything to the man she met after my father past. Now im trying to be a great mother and continue my school. Im not typing all this to be treated as a said song. I just really feel like i need and deserve this. it will really brightn up my day and i will feel over apperciated.

  • http://www.blackplanet.com/LenaRenee/ LenaRenee

If I had to nominate someone it would be my sister Jacqui. She is the epitome of true love and success. She ahs raised five children, the oldest being 32. She overcame tremendous odds and made something of her life. She married young and divorced faced with the daunting task of raising 5 children on her own she went to school earned her nursing license. Opened her doors to foster children and tries to fulfill the term “God-fearing woman”. She is the most down to earth sista girl you could meet. With a heart of gold and a serious sense of humor ( the girl is hilarious).
She doesn’t take the time to do for herself always worried about who else might need the help. Ask anyone in the church circle in San Diego sis. Jacqueline Gibbs is the truth. I think she would make a great nominee for this giveaway and she could definitely use the style uplift!

if i had to nominate so one it would be myself; i choose myself because i over came a lot in my liife; i went threw hell my whole life. being that im 19 now it really never hit me the most; i got taken away from my mother at the age of six. i had 2 look out for mah lil sister and big brothers . at a point we all got seprated and i went threw hell i started cutting myself ; i jus hated who i was, i droped out of high school, i never really looked at myself the same til this day!! i just wish if i could go back and change the horriable mistakes i made i would totally give back whatt i qave in; my house got caught on fire, my family needed me for everthing i guess i was the mother. i went lookin for jobs at the age of 15 i finally found one and when i got that job i was dating a young boy i got abused pshycailly i was not the same, went to school got called all names my whole life ibeen teased on ; i just wannalive a drama and stressful free life. and if i dont get choosed atleast i opened up kus i NEVER open up to anybody thanks for listening to my story GOD BLESS US!!!

If I had to nominate myself becaues I remeber going there hell and back going threw life being raped all the time by my grandmother and mother’s boyfriends and my son father raped me moving from state to stae being put out from my mom’s place at 13 and having my son at 15 moving with my dad while he was getting high on drugs and letting people touch me all over and do things to me. But at 27 years old today I came thew it but it was by the grace of god til this day it is still hard to see myself as a nice looking woman I know that is why I am still single me and men don’t see eye to eye and it is hard for me right now but I know I might come out on top.

  • http://www.blackplanet.com/rkesha39/ rkesha39

I would like to nominate Kesha. She is a single mother of two serving in the military trying to make sure her children has all the opportunities that she was not given when she was growing up. Kesha’s life has not been easy but it has made her strong. She was married and divorced being forced to take care of two children on her own. Kesha has always been the one that her brothers and sisters run to in time of need and being the person that she is she has always helped them sacrificing the comforts of her own family. Kesha has never been given anything, she was always the one who gave. I believe that she would be a great candidate because it’s about time she had a break. Kesha is a strong, compassionate and caring individual who always takes care of others. Kesha has been used and abused for way to long and is way past due for a break. It would be a blessing to have someone take care of her for a change. I have to motivate, encourage and inspire myself everyday and with the grace of God he has made me very wise. Yes, I nominate Kesha and Kesha is me.

My mother is who I nominate, Veda Hurley she is beauty in every step, her strength is inspiration to me. After all the wounds, bruises and set backs that life has given, she holds her head high and strives for the best out of life. Through the losses in life she picked her self up and completes her triumph in the way God designed her victory to be, in love for those who feel like they can not make it through, she gives council when needed, and her pain is so great, her body weak from chemo, rejecting the substance that is supposed to help her, yet she smiles and takes it what life is giving and stands strong on days that I know she wants to lay down and rest. She is pheomenal and just being able to write how she inspires my life, my heart beat, my pattern for the woman I am and will become because of her grace and love, is what brings me here to say this little part about her, my mama is blessed, there is nothing I would not do for her for the life she has shown to me.

I would love to nominate my sister Shay. She is a beautiful waoman and a phenomenal mother. She has been through alot this past year. Late last summer (2009) she lost the love of her life and fiance of ten years when he died at age 31 from complications of open heart surgery. Since then life for her and my niece have been emotionally draining, yet she still persists on, working, going to grad school in the evenings, and raising a three year old. Now here’s the kicker, this is her BP page, so if by chance she wins this will be a “good” surprise to her and much needed.
Thank you and good luck to all who apply.

I would like to nominate myself, Cheril Gumbs-Nelson a single mother of three lovely daughters who are now 25, 23, and 20 that I raised while serving in the United States Army. I retired from the Army after serving proudly for 20years at the age of 38, went on to college for 4 years, graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Care Management. I am about to start on my Masters degree next fall. I am current employed taking care of those great Americans who are serving proudly. Even though I am proud of my accomplishments that I listed above, my most proudest accomplishment are my 3 girls. My oldest is also a soldier in the Army, she have been to Iraq twice. The middle one is currently in college for Early Child Care and the youngest graduated from Culinary Arts and now is going back for Cosmotology. Being a single parent is very hard, but try doing it while in the military and being deploy to a foreign country with little children, no transportation,no family, and can’t speak the langauge( but I loved Germany, so much so that I went back a second time). Being deployed and being told you can’t take them with you so you have to rely on friends or family to take care of them while you are away. You worry about them while having to perform your mission. It was tough and very challenging but it didn’t kill me, it made me stronger. The toughest part was losing my dad the year before I retired. He kept asking me to move back to the Virgin Islands and I kept telling him as soon as I retired. I miss him so much. R.I.P. daddy.

If I could nominate someone, it would be every hardworking single mother that let so much go in order to make a living for the kids that they had to raise alone. Saying that, I nominate myself. Being 44 and raising to beautiful daughter and God blessing me to have three beautiful granddaughters, I’ve never taken the time to do anything for myself until 2010. I let go a onesided relationship and hit the gym. I went from a size 13-14 to a 9-10. I feel wonderful and now I can do things for myself and enjoy looking young and beautiful.

I must say i would have to nominate myself, it is just me and my children against the world. We have family but they are so distant, and self-righteous that they don’t have room to acknowledge me and my children. I have 3 beautiful girls who are struggling everyday i n this society with different fads and G.I.G’s (girls in gangs) everyday and my precious two little boys who are brutalized and picked on by the kids in school because they choose to walk the other way. I speak to my children daily as well as provide a beautiful sound home for them. We struggle everyday but we struggle as a family and we pull through. I would love to win this prize so i can reward them for a tremendous job they have in helping their mom, and not giving up.

I had a baby pass away in 08 then 3mos later one of my sons fathers were murdered. I moved from ohio to las vegas leaving everything behind. I nominate my mother, who the whole time me and my two siblings were growing up, never spent a penny on herself. She shopped the thrift-store racks for everything, wearing sweaters a decade old and skirts that never did her tiny frame any justice. But she never complained, it was a maternal sacrifice made out of love. But I would love to get to take her on this spree and treat *her* for once!

Let me start by saying there are alot of strong women on here -n- we all are winners. I nominate myself too not for being a single mother, but because I have struggled with the lost of a child 3days after his birth and my ex-husband caused his death out of jealousy. Everyday has been an obstacle for me -n- my son’s father, he’s not that strong of a person so I have to be the stronger one to get us thru this hard ordeal esp. when special occasions come around like what would have been our son’s birth day. Things have been every tight lately with the doctor bills my ex-husband was order to pay but hasn’t as you can imagine. But everyday I’m blessed with knowing my son is in a better place and glad I’m still alive after all I’ve been thru.

    HI,
Wow! I must say that I would pick myself why? because I have had a hard a tremendous few years it started about 11 years ago when I found out that my son Would Never walk and has to use a wheelchair to get around in he just turned 11 this month. He also has cerebral palsy and seizures and has plenty doctor’s appointments it’s so hard. I cry always I am so sad for his life I love my boy. I am single now because five years ago my son’s dad died from cancer he was only at the time 30. It hit me pretty hard because we were together for nine years and he was my rock. He was always there for me. Everybody loved him and so did I. He died from cancer a healthy man one day just died. First he got blind and couldn’t see so I had to walk with him to help get around to take him to doctor’s appointments mind you my son was also in a wheelchair so in one arm I have a blind person to assist with walking and on the other arm I some how was pushing my son in a wheelchair taking both of them to where they need to go done all by myself no family members no nurses no support staff. Nobody helped me at all. Today,I am still providing for my son who is in is wheelchair doing what I have to do for my son so that he can be happy. I inspire myself cause with all that I am still standing it is hard with a ill child but I know god is by my side.

I nominate myself, normally I would recognize someone else because I see the good in everyone and appreciate their worth. But I have learn to accept my good doings and to give me the appreciation I deserve. I am a mother of 5, who has been through a lot of trials and tribulations. No, I was not a single mother, I was married for 18 years and my husband left me and the kids when my youngest was 8. I just recently left my job of 9 1/2 years so I was also unemployed. I felt my whole world had just crashed. I denounced God and turn my back on the world. My kids were my inspiration to move on. I found a job working part time, no benefits, no child support and not enough income. My new boss happened to be pastor, who renewed me in ways I cannot explain. I went back to school, got my AA degree and then transfer back to U.S.F. to complete my college education in which I am studying to become an ESE teacher in hope to help children who otherwise would not strive without that special one on one assistance I am trained to give. My childen are now 23, 22, 21, 18, and 15. My greatest joy today is knowing that God never leaves you and he shows you love has no limits. My children has strive through all of their challenges and I am blessed and highly favored and look forward to graduating in two years.

The women i most admire is my mom. She came from a very abusive family and saw her own mother killed in front of her.She was only 14 years old at the time, she met and married my dad at 15 years old. My mom endured bouts of depression, but never allow it to stop her from being a great mom. After my dad got sick she quit her job to become his full time caregiver and after he died at age 53 she went back to school and got her GED, and became a certified nursing assistant. I am an adult with my own family and I now understand how hard it had to have been for my mom, but she never complained and never gave up. she is a truly remarkable women and my best friend. I proudly nominate her for this make over.

The women I admire most would be my mother. She over came many things in her life and moved with grace and beauty. My mother because a registered nurse and help people deal with drugs and abuse problemsfor most of her life. When she also was getting abused by my father phyiscally and mentally as well, but that didn’t stop her she still took care of her children and raised us the best she could with no help from my father. My mother was diagnosed with lupus which has been a fighting batter since 1999. When I ask why do my mother have to go through so much? She replies everything happens for a reason. Today due to the lupus my mother has been though a number of surgeries, bleeding in her brain, lost part of her feet, uses a wheel chair, and own dialysis due to her kidneys no longer working. My mother take about 10 pills morning, noon and night, and she take care of my 2 nephews. When I look at my mother I see a strong black educated women that puts a “H” on her chest ,and handle everything life throws her way. I love and admire my mother and pray to god I could one day be the women she is today.

My sister gives selflessly. She is constantly helping someone and does nearly nothing for herself including shopping. Most of the clothing that she owns I gave her or purchased for her. She was a voluptuous woman, yet she has no style sense. I admire her because she has made up her mind to take the weight off. She realizes that it will be a long road, but she has already begun her journey. I applaud her.

Nominate self..Fell sick in 2007 from working 2 jobs providing for a child & over coming being abused for nearly 10years almost left for dead twice. Had to move to new state leave a job of 13years working with mental handicap. New city I came to started working for inner city children less than years program closed because of funding..Now been unemployed since 2009..Depressed & filling unworthly I forgotten what it looks & feels like to get something new..because 4 a woman makes you {her} feel good inside even when it’s ugly out…Seems like the giver give so much she has no 1 to help her in return.Because of the Lord & my children that I’m still alive..Got a testimony for any woman who needs help when in comes to ABUSE..MEN or WOMAN KEEP YA DAMN HANDS OF EACH OTHER..if you gotta go that route leave..cause LOVE don’t hurt on purpose…

I’D LIKE 2 NOMINATE MY KIDS’ GRANDMOTHER.I’VE KNOWN HER 4 12 YEAR’S AND SHE HAS BEEN MORE OF A MOTHER 2 ME THAN MY OWN MOTHER EVER WAS.SHE TOOK ME IN WHEN I HAD NOWHERE 2 GO.AND SHE HAS ALWAYS HELPED ME WITH MY KIDS.
I WENT 2 PRISON IN 2005 FOR 37 MONTHS AND MY KIDS LIVED WITH HER.NOW,I KNOW GRANDMOTHERS’ DO THIS ALL THE TIME BUT THIS WAS A SPECIAL CASE.WHEN I FIRST WENT AWAY MY YOUNGEST CHILD WAS TAKEN BY THE STATE AND SHE WAS THE 1 WHO STEPPED UP 2 GET HIM.THE 1 REASON THIS WAS SO SPECIAL 2 ME IS,HE’S NOT HER NATUAL GRANDCHILD.MY ELDEST CHILD IS THE ONE THAT BELONGED 2 HER SON.
NOW THAT I AM HOME SHE HAS DONE EVERYTHING SHE HAD TOO DO TO HELP ME GET ON MY FEET.FOR THAT I AM ETERNALLY GRATEFUL,AND THIS IS THE REASON I WOULD CHOOSE 2 NOMINATE HER.

She is my Superwoman. In 1993 my father died & 2 of my brothers were murdered one month apart. My mother has shown me how strong women can be. She has done so by continuing to instill into us, responsibility, faith & most important Love despite the cards we were dealt. She works at the CVVC helping families who have lost someone to violent crimes with what she has learned and practiced throughtout her years.

I would like to nominate my daughter’s best friend’s mom. She is a young woman raising four kids alone. The kid’s dad has 13 kids total, but this woman makes sure her kids know all their brothers and sisters and that they have a good relationship with them. This woman puts her all into her kids and nothing into a man. She is sure to be there when any of her kids have a ball game or anything and she makes sure they are active in church. She never has a bad word for the kids father, his other kids or their mothers and she always makes sure her kids are well taken care of. She does a very good job with all four of them.

I would like to nominate my mother, Laverne. My mother really deserve it because she’s everyhting that I hope to become when I have my own children. Im 28 years old and my mother has raised me on her own my entire life. She was once married but he developed MS and was talked into leaving by his own mother, leaving my mother to raise my two younger brothers. She’s been raising them on her own for about 8years. She always puts us before herself and by doing this it would really give her the time she needs to herself. If you would consider this for her it would mean alot to me. I’m currently is attending college to better myself and also to provide for my family. It was times when we didn’t know how the bills were going to be paid, but with our faith in God we overcame. My mother hasnt worked in almost 6 years because she injured her back on the job and I see how hard it is for her trying to keep the lights on, rent paid, etc. I wouldnt trade my life for anyhthing because God didnt say that it would be easy and right now I know that it’s all a test to see if we can overcome the worst to get where He want us to be, so please consider mt mother.

I’d like to nominate myself. Im not complaining but deserve something special after what I have been through. unfortunately Never got a chance to meet my father, I just have to wonder about him. My mom let me move in with my high school bestfriend when I was a senior in highschool. That was good til her mom died. So moved in with my highschool sweetheart, which was good, til i found out he was cheatin on me, and I found myself homeless with my daughter who was only 5yrs. That’s not the worst of it cuz i soon went blind in one eye finding out i have hyper coagutive lupus, which now my life has been pure hell cuz i’m still young and already suffered two strokes. The most recent one has left me speech impaired and parallyzed my right side. And i’m turning 35yrs old or young in two months.

First of all I think that every woman is beautiful in their own way but I have to say I would like to nominate myself. I have never had really any self confidence in myself and I have recently lost weight and it’s made me realize that I am special in some way everyone is. I think that it takes more than looks to make you beautiful and I can give you my sad life story which I truly have on to tell and I can say that my life is what it’s made me who I am today but honestly what I think makes me beautiful is my personality and my skills that I have. I take good care of myself and I try to help as many people as I can and I think that my action and how I carry myself is what truly makes me beautiful like I said we are all beautiful in our own way so how do you express your beauty besides just looking good? I express my beauty in a number of ways.

FOR THE FIRST CHOICE I WOULD HAVE TO NOMINATE MYSELF. BUT THEN YOU WOULD CALL ME SELFISH… EVEN THOUGH I HAVE HAD MANY HARD TIMES IN LIFE. TAKING CARE OF MY MOTHER, AND THE REST OF MY FAMILY IN EVERY WAY POSSIBLE. I HAVE EVERYTHING IN LIFE THAT A NORMAL PERSON COULD ASK FOR. I HAVE A ROOF OVER MY HEAD, A CAR THAT I CAN CALL MY OWN. AND A HUGE FAMILY THAT I RECIEVE LOVE FROM IN MANY WAYS. A JOB THAT MAKES EVERY BONE IN MY BODY HURT. THE STRESS LEVEL THAT JUST BLOWS MY MIND. I CAN HANDLE ALL THE EVERYDAY POSSIBILITY THAT MAY COME MY WAY.. SO THEREFORE I WOULD HAVE TO JUST STOP AND NOMINATE EVERY OTHER PERSON THAT HAS LEFT A COMMENT ON THIS SITE.. I MAY NOT BE PERFECT, BUT THIS IS JUST THE WAY MY LIFE IS …”IT’S NOT A MATTER OF WINNING. IT A MATTER OF HOW YOU LET ALL THE OTHER PEOPLE CLAIM VICTORY”.. THIS IS THE HONEST TRUTH TO MY SIDE OF THE STORY… GOOD LUCK EVERYONE…

I would love to dominate myself. I’m a proud mother of 3 beautiful girls. I’m also a wife with alot of responsibilities. I was a single mom for 11 years taking care of myself and at the time my 2 olders daughter until I recently got married last year to my high school sweet heart. I always work hard to make sure I was taking care of myself and my girls. At time I end up getting a part time job to make sure all the bills were taking care of and always food in the house. I recently had my 3rd baby girl and I went through a really bad pregnancy but normal. I was put on bed rest due to early labor that took me to the hospital. Once I reach my 36 weeks I was advice from my doctor to stoop taking the medicine he prescribe me to stop the contractions and few days later my water broke. I was with my girls and husband when it happend. I was in labor for 14 1/2 hours and finally she arrive but the complication for me started. I was rush to emergency surgery due to bleeding internally and to the grace of God I’m here today. Through out all the pain and recovery I dedicated myself to breastfeed my baby to make sure she get the best she deserve like my 2 olders ones did. After 3 months of recovery and spending time with baby,I return back to work. Husband got lay off and now I’m taking care as much as I can so we can be ok. So through good and bad I’m standing by my husband. So I’m super women, yes I am! I would love to pamper and go shopping for myself but it’s so hard right now because of my situation. I love my family dearly. Responsibilities come first which that it’s my family and taking care the bills to be able to survive and of course all of this that I have accomplish and still doing it’s with the help of God. Thank you.

BUT I TEND TO FOCUS ON HIM MORE BECAUSE HE GOES THROUGH SO MUCH PAIN AND SO MANY CHANGES AT THE AGE OF THREE. HE IS THE LOVE OF MY LIFE AND GOD SENT HIM TO ME FOR A REASON!

I’m chosing to nominate myself as a survivor of childhood sexual abuse from age 7-11 years of age by my mother and step father, a survivor of date rape at 16 to which I had an ectopic pregnancy and nearly died, mother put me out in the streets because she did not believe I was raped. I lost a tube and an ovary at that tender age and was told I had a 50/50 chance of having children. I have two beautiful kids now age 23 and 25. Traveled with a carnival sleeping under trucks and in tents living on sandwiches and bathing under garden hoses in cold water, to rescue that mother who abandoned me at 16. Hitch-hiked all the way home from Florida by myself, (so there is a God) because I found a Christian Trucker who brought me back home safe and sound to get my baby son out of Foster Care, only to find the girl I was living with stole everything I owned. This past 2 years I have gone through finding out my husband had a baby with another woman, my best friend committed suicide, I lost my mother in December from Lung cancer of which I went and took care of her after all she did to me, and I just found out I have Kidney Disease Stage 3 as well as Thyroid Disease. Life has been tough but God has been Good. I’m still vertical.

i would like to nominate one of my old co-workers she trained me and is one of the few black women that actually embraced me when i was the new kid on the block at my job.she is kind of like my mentor and is the one who gave me the courage to go back to school complete my degree.Since then i have moved on but we kept in touch.I am diabetic and i later found out that i needed a kidney. when told her she offered to get tested to see if she was a match.I am blessed to say that i am alive today because of this remarkable woman. Not only does she work hard and have a nice style..i think she would make good use of the shopping spree because she is one of the few plus size women that I know that dresses well and carries herself with confidence and poise and knows how to wear clothes that compliment her body .

I would like to nominate my mom. She is the most beautiful person in the world. She always taught me right from wrong. She stayed on my head enough to get me on the right track, but she also knew when i needed to learn on my own. When i would stress about things she would let me know theres no need to stress about things u cannot change. Just give it all to god and everything will be ok. I also get my giving heart from her. She will give her last to someone who truely needs it. She does for everyone and get nothing in return, but she doesnt expect anything either. This is why I want to nominate my mother. She is the best!

  • http://www.blackplanet.com/Kyss001/ Kyss001

I would like to nominate my mother, she is the most amazing women. I’m the oldest of four, my mom and I are extremely close, just a very short time ago, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. After loosing my father to a stroke, I just could not bear the thought of loosing my mom to cancer. We had no clue how serious this disease was until it hit at home. First I cried, I thought to myself ..lord please don’t take my mother away from us and her 11 grandchildren, this is the beginning for her, all of her kids are grown and on there own, and after my father passed away, it seems like my mother just totally focused all her attention on us. She never dated anyone after my father and now its been seven years and still my mother has not been involved in another relationship. Last year was a terrible year for our family, first the cancer and followed by that a close realitive got killed in a car accident, then both of my brothers were sentenced to prison for crimes that they did not commit and in the process of all that my mother house was in the process of foreclosing. With all that being said my mother remained strong through it all and now her cancer is in remission and she has her health and strength and god on her side and all praises to god she is cancer free. So I would like to nominate my mother for being the women she is and even if she does not win this contest, she is still a winner to me.

First of all I think that every woman is beautiful in their own way but I have to say I would like to nominate myself. I have never had really any self confidence in myself and I have recently lost weight and changed somethings in my life and now im going back to school but everything has made me realize that I am special in some way everyone is.

  • http://www.blackplanet.com/kel_licious28/ kel_licious28

Well let me start by saying it is hard to pick a beautiful woman to nominate because there are so many out there. I am going to nominate my mother JoAnn, she is a very hardworking woman and she deserves to have something for herself. She is a great mom and and a wonderful grandmother. My father got hurt years ago and so everything falls back on her, she works for the state yet they dont pay her near enough. My sister was diagnosed with down-syndrome when she was born so she needs care 24/7. So on top of my dad not able to work, she has to take care of my sister and it is not an easy task. She is in her 60′s and still has a about 9 years until she can fully retire. Even though she doesn’t make alot of money she makes sure that everyone has what they need before her. She doesn’t get much of a break because not only does she work hard, but she also helps watch my kids when I work and doesn’t ask for anything in return. She is always willing to go without just so the grandkids can get everything they need and want. I tell her not to get them things but of course like the wonderful mom she is she will not listen to me! I honestly believe she deserves this because being a single income family, she pays the bills and whatever needs to be done around her house she takes care of it. She honestly can not afford to splurge on herself and this would be a blessing for her and I know she would be greatful. I love my mother so much and regardless if she wins or not she is still beautiful to me inside and out.

I admire Mary Stewart, she has raised me alone and sacrificed dreams to ensure that I had a solid foundation and every opportunity that life have to offer. Now she works fulltime to continue to provide for us, attends college where she completed her Bachelors degree and is working on her Masters, works at the church as the Asst Administrator, and still finds time to encourage and promote other young single moms and young women.

I am here to represent myself. I am a 32 year old single mom who has over come many obstacles in my life and though it has been hard I have had the comfort of Jesus Christ to sustain me. I dropped out of school at a very young age but I was able to obtain my G.E.D in June of 07. I am currently taking classes with the University of Phoenix online. My degree is Associates in health care administration and with the help of the Lord I will be done In August of this year. I listed all of this because I want to encourage someone that has had a hard time and maybe has given up to hold on and continue striving because the best is yet to come. I look at where God has brought me from. I inspire myself first before anyone else because I never gave up even when I wanted to and I never believed that it was to late or I was to old to make it. That took me a long way. I am a active member in my church and as you can see I do not mind telling about the goodness of God. Be encouraged everyone and be inspired.

I am here to represent my lovely mother. She is a hard working mother, One of the hardest working mothers i probley ever seen in my life. From 8 hour shifts to 12 hour shifts and even duble shifts. Just to take care of her four kids when she was a single mother. Now she has a man not the best but he do help her out. She was the type that spoiled us to death whateva we wanted she tried her best to get for us. That is why i love her to death. She goes to church every sunday and love the lord, and it was very hard on her when her mother pasted away and her father. (which is my grand mother and grandfather) she still holds down the house thoe and that is why she deserve it… (love you mom)

My Mother is a Strong, Intelligent, and Giving women. My Mother is a single parent who successfully raised two children without any outside assistance. What inspires me is the fact she worked hard to get her Bachelors degree while at the same time meeting the needs of her family. She deserves to win a shopping spree. I have the courage and strength to learn from my own mistakes and to strive to become a better person. I keep God in my life. I am a positive role model. I survive.

I admire myself that’s a given, my lovely mom, sis, and daughter. I do want to nominate Jennifer James for the style boost shopping spree, she is the founder of the MomBloggers club. I look at her in action and say wow. It takes a unique extraordinary person to stay so involved in such a huge community, with nothing but great, helpful , positive and uplifting things to share. That takes a lot. The mom blogger club has thousands of members, but it only started with one person and her big vision. I love her compassion, her strength, her ability to connect on a personal level and her love for what she does. I totally look up to her, and aspire to learn and grow from what she has done and is able to do in social media. Kudos to Jennifer!!!! Thanks you!

(HELLO BEAUTIFUL-DISREGARD FIRST POST 75WD) I ADMIRE MYSELF BECAUSE IM A STRONG WOMAN ENDURING HARDSHIP DURING AN ECONOMIC DECLINE. I SAID THIS WOULD HAPPENED TO ME JUST WHEN I GRADUATED SCHOOL IN 2/28/2008. I WAS EAGERLY WAITING TO START WORK SO THAT I COULD PAY FOR MY TEST AS AN AIRLINE MECHANIC. BUT INSTEAD I GOT HIT BY A RECESSION, AND I HAVE BEEN UNEMPLOYED SINCE 12/2007-PRESENT. I’M STILL MANAGING TO KEEP MY HEAD ABOVE WATERS WITH LITTLE INCOME. I KNOW I INSPIRE MYSELF BECAUSE I BELIEVE THAT I WILL PULL THRU THIS TOO! THANKS BP

  • http://www.blackplanet.com/Vernika25/ Vernika25

Hi, I’m Vernika and I would like to nominate myself. I love my mom, my grandmothers, my aunts, and my cousins, but I really admire myself. First of all I’m a returning full-time college student, working partime and just trying to make a better life for myself. I’m 27 years old, single, with no kids, and I live alone. I know that some women enjoy being a mom, and there’s nothing wrong with that, but I choose to wait until I can afford to have children because I really struggle just taking care of myself. I admire myself though because I am driven and ambitious, and no matter what it takes I know that I’ll get to where I want and need to be with the help of God. All of my life I have always been the most humble and considerate person that you could ever meet. I’m totally selfless and I go without a lot of times. There are some weeks where I would have to make 20 bucks stretch to the next week; remind you that I’m driving almost 40 miles a day back and forth from school to home then to work to home. I don’t sweat it though because my faith is so strong in God, that I know he’ll provide for me. I care about people’s feelings a lot too. Mostly everyone I know trusts me with their deepest secrets, because I’m a great listener and totally honest with everyone I know. I try so hard to be the best and do the best that I can in life. I have always been a hard worker and have been working every since I was 14 years old. I rarely miss a day of work, even if it was the flu, I would still try to pull thru, because who else would be there to take care of me. Just this past September, I lost my father and Instead of me staying out of work because of my loss, I chose to work everyday until my dad’s funeral. I didn’t do it just for the money but because I’m a dedicated and a responsible young woman and I knew that there’s no one there for me other than me. Some people may think life is so much easier when you’re single or unmarried and without children, but I totally disagree. I’m not so superficial where I’m always considering my outward appearance, such as always getting my hair done or nails and feet done, but for once I would really like to have the chance to just do something for me for a change, and not always throw my money to bills. It’s very hard living life like this, as it would be for any young woman, but I know that in the end I’m gonna be something very very special. I’m just hoping for the chance to be chosen so that I can have a brand new wardrobe because I’m still wearing clothes that I’ve had for about 3 or 4 years now. It really makes a woman feel good to know that all of your hard work and the life you lead doesn’t go unnoticed. Thank you Hello Beautiful for this opportunity.

I nominate myself because I am a phenomenal mother, daughter, sister, and friend. Genuinely. I had to work against all odds all my life to make ends meet. I did it all without a steady job. I was always a hard worker, but never could keep a job. Nothing I did wrong at all. If I had time to explain it, it would make sense. That’s why I said against all odds because they were against me it seems like my whole life. I managed to always provide for my son. Keep him in school. Out of gangs. A roof over his head. Well grounded. Respectful, and courageous just like I was supposed to. I don’t expect nothing for it because that was my job, but I just want to be recognized for it. All this was done single-handedly by choice, so if it takes a shopping spree to recognize my achievements then I’ll accept it. Non stop mothering. No breaks in between, and now the rewards will be endless because my son is now 18. About to graduate from hs, and go to college.

I definitely nominate myself, because not only am I a single mother of two, but I’m also a student, just moved in with my mother and her fiance’ until I can get a place of my own and has had a hard time finding a job, because of the economy. I’ve been through a lot in life. My daughter’s father being incarcerated for three years of my daughter’s life and she’s three years old. My son’s dad is an absent parent. So taking on both roles as mother and father are quite challenging, which leaves me little time to relax. I’m a hardworker, very devoted, and dedicated to what I do. Currently looking for a job right and and by the grace of God, I hope to get one soon. I’m just going to keep praying about it, do my best, and let God handle the rest. I believe I should treat myself to something good and at the same time, be able to get my kids what they need.

My plus-sized clothing was dispersed among family & friends and in all honesty, I own only sweats and tees and would just love some new items to compliment my new frame. And now that I’ve completed a few extra classes and feel much more physically, mentally and spiritually prepared to reintroduce my “new” self to society, a shopping spree would be a great beginning to a new start in life. Therefore, I nominate Me. :D

My name is Cyauna and I would like to nominate my mother. This is her website that I am logged on to because I am too young to have my own. My mother inspires me because she has been through so much pain and troubles over the years and she still keeps going through it all. Three years ago our father died suddenly leaving my Mom with a broken heart and spirit. For months we watched as she fought just to keep going for our sakes, even though everything was falling apart around us. As a result of loosing our father, we lost our home, and very way of life. Despite how hard my mother took my fathers death she still did everything in her power to make sure that we have been taken care. My older brother has rebelled and given her a lot of problems since our Daddy died, but she still stands by him and loves him just like the rest of us. She is fiercely protective of us, and takes her responsibilities to us very seriously. I have watched her work so hard she ended up going to the hospital trying to keep food in the fridge for me and my brother and sister. The sad part is that she does all this for not only us, but for her nieces and nephews too, but I have never seen her get anything back in return. She says these were the cards she was dealt and regardless to how hard it may be, she will not give up until she gets us all to the point to where we can survive on her own. She stays strong for us, but you can see in my moms eyes that she still is very sad all the time. Just once I would like to see her happy. I am only 14 years old and I know I still have a lot to learn, but it makes me sad to know my mother has been a loyal friend, good sister, loving wife, and devoted mother all her life, but time and time again she has dealt with tragedy. The reason she has taken my fathers death so bad, is because it was the last of many that came before. My mother is 37 years old and she has buried, her mother, father, one of her children, both grandmothers, and now even her husband. I think having lost so many important people in her life has really taken a toll on her, but she knows she has to keep going for our sakes. That is true love, when you push past your own breaking point for the betterment of those you care for. My mother is strong, hardworking, and loving, and for that I hope to be just like her when I grow up.

I nominate my one and only neice Erica. Erica has faced many tragic things in her life at an early age. She stayed strong after losing a pregnant sister, her grandmother and grandfather back to back. She went on to college despite what she had faced and upon graduation went back to school. A hard worker and dedicated student she soon went from diva to mother upon the birth of her daughter. She is now an RN working hard for her and her daughter’s livelihoods and inspires me with the positive energy and strength through it all. Cudos to the single moms who weather the storms and keep pushing forward.

I would like to nominate myself. For as long as I can remember, I have been putting my life on hold and trying to be a helper to everyone else, and not taking care of me first because I have such a big heart. Last year I ended up getting sick, didn’t know I was pregnant, lost the baby, almost died twice, was gone from work for two months, got demoted when I came back, wasn’t able to finish getting my bachelor’s degree, due to all the medical bills, got kicked of the home ownership program because you have to be working full-time, and ended up deeper in debt because of the medical bills, and no health insurance. I thank God anyway, but I am stuck at a job I don’t want, and making bare minimal, and My rent just got raised, but I know the Lord is going to take care of it. But I really could use some new clothes so I can find me a better job, and get back on the road to success. Thank you! God Bless!

I would like to nominate myself for this since my son was born which was 15 years ago I have always put his needs first before mine which is what a mother is supposed to do, but my own appearance has gone down the drain I don’t have any dress clothes or any nice jeans tennis shoes nothing. I am self employed in the real estate business but that is not very productive at all right now. I have always tried to have my own business and not work for nobody else’s time clock. I just stated a new business promoting flowers and gift baskets. I nominate myself for my courage to step out and try to make things happen and of course the dad is not trying to be a father to my son. My only concern at this point is to make sure I get him thru school and off to college. My next project is to write a book so stay tuned. Don’t know where the money will come from but I know if it is meant things will fall into place. I know I need a complete makeover. My family is not very family oriented so I feel like I’m in this alone so we have to make the best of it, it is what it is.

I made an account on this website and realized how many deserving women there truely are in the world. It is hard to go up against then considering each and everyone of them deserves this prize. I nominate my best friend ERYN for this possible prize. She is the most amazing 18 year old I have ever met. She has a mother who is extremely ill with OCD and has many anger issues, and her father left them when she was young and refuses to speak to her. Eryn has never been one to call names or lash out at people even when she herself was being attacked. Eryn makes me see life as a positive journey, no matter what troubles i may come across. She is just entering into women-hood according to most standards, but she is and always has been one truely inspiring woman to me. I would be honored to have her win this amazing prize. She is truely deserving and is going into her senior year of high school and just wants to show that she is beautiful not only on the inside but on the outside too. Please consider her:)

I Nominate Myself: Well, normally I don’t talk about myself but I feel that I deserve the $1000 dollar shopping spree because I’m a young struggling college student who is going to school to be a doctor. My objective is to become a doctor to better my community. I picked being a doctor as a goal because there aren’t many African American doctors in my community ( especially women doctors). I’m actively involved with my community by volunteering at the hospital to help those in need medically. With having such a high to reach goal, I still have to face the reality of struggling in my everyday life.
    Thanks for the opportunity,
    LesNubianQueen

I’m Nominating my best friend Brittany and myself. In the Summer of ’09 we were having a sleep over, a boy ended up coming over that night. Brittany fell asleep and I was left alone with him, I was a virgin before he came over but unwillingly he took that from me. I didn’t tell anyone for a couple months. Once I did my parents got the police involved. Me and Brittany were questioned daily for almost two whole months. I couldn’t go in my room alone. My case was closed. There was not enough evidence to put him in jail. I dealed with P.T.S.D and was sent to a treatment center. It has been over a year now and me and Brittany have worked on getting together a support group for our community, we have done plenty of projects and presentations on women’s rights and how to deal with abuse. I think me and brittany are so strong to be able to go through what we did and use it to help other women!
