naomi_key, why are you so jealous? If she’s skinny, she’s skinny. The fashion world has always been like this from the get-go. Don’t hate because you can never be a CK model or anything else for that matter. What do you call modeling? I’m sure you don’t even know the basics of the industry. Why do so many people think being Black means being fat and out of shape? I don’t know how much she weighs but she seems to fit the supermodel standard. She’s a high fashion model not an urbanwear model.

Why is it that everytime an article on any site is congratulating and acknowledging a black/African American person for accomplishing something (especially being the first) people always have to respond with negative comments? It is your opinion, but why not see the postive? Let it be! This is obviously a prestigious accomplishment in the modeling industry. She might not be the average healthy and full-figured woman that most would like to see, but she is black. That is the point! This is the problem with society and the people in the black community. Someone black accomplishes something positive or productive and we always have to find a way to hate on it. (Too fat, too thin, too light, too dark, too ugly or too pretty). At the same time, I guess we need the devil’s advocates to keep goin…lol…no disrespect. We all have to do things a little more to get that accomplishment. I work at a news station with only white men and women. In my department, I’m the only the youngest, the only black (besides one of the supervisors) and one of three women. I have to work three times as hard to get the work done well and I do!!! For people who do not agree with the extra thin modeling or the fact that most models are always light skinned, they should do something about it. I am! That is exactly what Tyra is doing. That is what her show is about; showing all kinds of beauty by showing different nationalities, complexions and body shapes. I understand everyone have an opinion, but try being positive and see what the outcome will be for yourself.

we all watch top model and think that’s how the industry works but that’s only a small part and she was only picked cuz of her starving look
ck has never had healthy looking models they all look half dead or on drug
that’s y tyra try to change that look with her models more healthy full size beauties
i’m glad she got it just sad that she looks like a waif

Ok some of the comments are so dumb! First of all that is not her hair its weave and it’s how they styled her! You know those runway shows try to be avant guard so they make the models look weird. And the weirder the better. I seen her in other ads and she is really pretty. Yes skinny but really pretty. Reguardless if ya’ll dont like her look she is making it in her career so I’m going to congratulate a sista….Congrats Girl!

cant see anything she has accomplished cos i think she is more of a product or tool,starving urself to death and u call that modelling…..?someone else should put that cloth on and see how it brings out the curves,cant even hug somelike her cos i might break her bones….girl u look terrifying more like my ancestors skeleton…..the hair is another problem i think she should cut it off cos it doesnt look healthy……she look so lost and scared…sorry babe

I’m not even going to hate on her for being so thin, for a (CK) model, being thin is the equivalent to a doctor having a degree, its a must. Yes, she is INDEED “thin” but aren’t all runway models??? Not really news (or surprising) to me. I congratulate her on her accomplishments. What most don’t realize is her look is what sells over in European countries. The “commercial” look is used a majority of the time in the US and primarily for catalogs, video and “commercials” etc. Like honeybelow and Giggitygoogyal84 I also must applaud her on being a mahogany (don’t like to use dark skinned) sister!!! That is a beautiful thing & beauty comes in all shades :). Keep doin’ your thang!!!
