If a movie about Barack Obama is ever in the works, Angela Bassett will definitely be among the number of black actresses auditioning for the role of Michelle.
Says Telegraph,
Miss Bassett, who played Tina Turner in the biopic What’s Love Got To Do With It?, told me at the screening of the film Notorious at the Soho Hotel that Mrs Obama would be a gift to any black actress as she was “a woman of the zeitgeist”.
It remains to be seen whether the First Lady will be keen: she is, after all, only 45, whereas Miss Bassett is 50. Mandrake fancies that Halle Berry, who received an invitation to the Inauguration Ball, would be the preferred choice. Another issue is that no one, as yet, has any plans to make a film about the Obamas.
Okay, so she’s a little bit older. But we all know Angela is one of the dopest black actresses in Hollywood – at least we know she’d do MIchelle justice!
