Rihanna-Breaks-Her-Silence-On-ABC-500x342

Rihanna sits down with ABC News’ Diane Sawyer revealing publicly for the first time what happened last February with singer and ex-boyfriend Chris Brown.

“He was definitely my first big love,” she told Sawyer. “…This happened to me…it can happen to anyone,” Rihanna said.

The incident resulted in Brown being sentenced to community labor, five years of probation and one year of domestic-violence counseling.

She also discussed her life growing up in Barbados and how she’s been doing over the last 9 months. Rihanna will be honored at Glamour magazine’s annual Women of the Year event at Carnegie Hall in NYC on Monday, Nov. 9.

I totally agree with Da_J_Rok, And there is no telling what she REALLY did to Chris to make him go off. I don’t even know what the big deal is about her, all I can see is FOREHEAD. The B…. now wants to play like she so damn innocent. Awwww, now we should all join in and sing KUM BA YA!

I’m not saying she deserved what she got or it was okay what Chris did. I agree she probably did something to make Chris go off. Now she sitting here trying to make everybody feel sorry for her. Plus I think the photos that was released had been redone to make her face seem worst then it really was. Really nobody knows the real story except Chris and Rihanna, and whoever else was there. Anyway I’m glad my baby Chris Breezy back out doing his thing.

I’m not sure what it takes to become Woman of the Year but besides the altercation w/Brown I don’t know of anything memorable that Rhi’s done so far that’s benefitted anyone besides herself. We know about Michelle, Serena and Maya and their works for the good of many but since when does a shiner equate to Woman of the Year. If this is the case, doesn’t Tina Turner or Whitney Houston also deserve awards or how about McKenzie Phillips or that Dancin’ w/the Stars Chick who just came out about DV in her marriage. Brown is doing what he needs to do about his involvement, Rhi needs to tell the whole story about how this situation emerged.

I’m sorry but when did it become ok for a female to get beat by her boyfriend?! I don’t believe some of these comments. I’ll admit I’m not the biggest Rhianna fan, or Chris Brown for that matter and I don’t get why she is woman of the year either BUT he is supposed to be a MAN and putting his hands on her like that was just plain wrong. No matter what she did or said to him, who is he to put his hands on her like that?! You didn’t see his face all bruised and jacked up. Nobody will ever know the full story, not even them cause its three sides to every story. His side, her side and the REAL SIDE.

Domestic violence (whether it is against a man or woman) is something that must not be tolerated. Chris Brown has admitted that he assaulted Rihanna; and yet, in my humble opinion, Rihanna has not received the community support that she deserves. When we turn our heads away from and silence our lips to domestic violence, we are guilty of supporting this heinous crime by not taking significant action, or speaking up against it.

I know that there was controversy with Chris expressing disappointment in Oprah’s adamant and staunch support of Rihanna, believing that he and Oprah shared a special bond because of his support of her South African school and other charities, but I really wish that Rihanna would have given this first interview to Oprah. I believe Diane Sawyer got it because in reality, Rihanna is still harboring feelings of love towards Chris, and did not want an interview with Oprah to appear as a betrayal to him.

In any event, I wish her a full recovery.

Nefertiti313 & tara427lc, you said it all. I couldn’t have put it better. I am a fan of Rihanna and can appreciate her talent, versatility, and unique brand of music. I also like Chris Brown and thought these two were a cute couple and was saddened/disappointed about the tragic events that occured back in February. What is even WORSE is the people who are so far up Chris’ ass that they cannot see the trees for the forest!!! He OPENLY ADMITTED to beatin’ the fug out this girl & people still want to rationalize it in some way because there “idol” could not be capable of doing such horrible things. GET OVER IT PEOPLE…it happened and Rihanna was the one who wore the bruises (smh). At the end of the day it seems they both moved on and I hope the necessary help was given and they can grow from this.

@Jahz_Lynx1 I agree. What exactly did she do to get Woman of the Year? How did she contribute to society? How did she make the world/commutiy better? What exactly did she do? SOMEBODY tell me… Until then, I don’t think she deserves it. Say whatever you want about it, but I’m callin it like I see it: She doesn’t deserve it.

Rihanna should get woman of the year. She’s a superhero for gettin’ her azz beat semi-conscience and still bounced back. I wonder if Chris could do the same if someone kicked is lil azz. And beleive it or not I am a big Chris Brown fan but I ain’t wit that man whaling on a woman s**t.
