WOW!!! That interview definitely sounded like something Kelis would say (LMAO)! I must say that a LOT about this confuses the heck out of me. Although I know NAS has been making songs for quite some time now (approaching two decades) I didn’t know his money was long enough to afford 50k per month. Hell he paying more than what P. The amount for alimony was probably based on any loss of income Kelis experienced while being married to Nas. If they had come to a mutual agreement that she would stop working while they got married, then the courts probably used this as a factor. Think about it: she IS an entertainer, not some woman who was a waitress, earning minimum wage when Nas met her. Again, I don’t know what kind of agreement they had, but if my husband wanted me to stay at home and I left my high-earning career, I would think it was only fair to have some type of settlement. NOR would I mind making a settlment with my husband, if the roles were reversed. It’s all about being fair and reasonable.

I don’t care nothing for the 2 of them this hold thing could have been kept to themself and all the money she got was just wrong. They both cheated and Nas should not have to pay for her life style. They should have worked this out by themself and they got a kid together…its just crazy.

Nas chose her.He’s probably kicking his self right now but whats done is done. He remained in the marriage long enough for her to get alimony and she does have his child now! I think that $50,000 per month is an anormous amount of money but that was obviously the decision of the cours! Kelis didn’t really have much of a singing career ,aside from the occassional one hit that she’d come out with! Nas was her primary source of income!

KaiKai7…Who knows how the court factored the alimony because it could have been off of estimation of her future royalties, etc. Now, just under $11,000 of that $50K is child support. I am not sure if there is a timeframe on KELIS’ alimony, but many courts usually have it intact for 2 to 3 years or until the person gets married.

Well, it’s like I said before, I don’t know the entire situation or the terms of the divorce agreement, but if Kelis is getting paid alimony for a limited time, the total amount really isn’t that much, relatively speaking. She probably earned over $1.5M since her first album in 1999, along with earnings from other ventures. The amount just sounds like a lot when you break it down on a monthly basis.

In her case, I would be reluctant to call her a “gold-digger” since she had a career before the marraige. I wish people could understand this–that not all women who sue for alimony are money-grubbers. I feel bad that many men get screwed over by women when they split up, but women often get screwed over, as well. Ever notice that most celebrity photographers tend to photograph women differently from men celebs?

When they see a male celeb, they usually shoot him front on, above the waist, but when they shoot women celebs, they are close up on their complexion and hair, all down in their cleavage, all up the crack of their butt, all over their stomach, legs, feet, etc.

It is not about what I consider an acceptable response, and I’m sure she already has a PR consultant, one who is failing at their role in her life.
As an entertainer, scratch that, as a business person, one who hopes to make a profit on how they are publicly perceived, it should be common knowledge NOT to alienate those you hope to sell to and profit off of, unless you are no longer in need of said income from said source.
