Mary J Blige when she first came out had an incident where she was put on the spot, she proved to her fans that she could sing without the music in the background right then and there. I’m very neutral towards her. To me, she will always just be “one of the cute sista’s from Destiny’s Child.” I think she tries too hard to be on the same level as actual artist-musicians.

What I have noticed is that when these artist are lypy synching, the producers know, but they try to keep it hushed because the singers are not always up to vocal standards when they need them. No excuse, because if you can sing you wouldn’t need a voice over. I don’t know if that is really beyonce singing, but I can tell you that all the artist lyp synch at every chance they can get, but it all hushed hushed because they are already super stars and no one wants to out them because of contracts, lawyers and legal agreements.

Yeah I’ve known singers – not on that level however – who have to sing to prerecorded tracks in arenas, outdoors, and concert-type places and they can’t hear themselves but they actually sing aloud instead of lip-syncing because it’s much more believable and often there are places in the song where they know the mic will be turned up in order to make it seem live. They just remember where they need to sound good and act a fool the rest of the song, as long as they’re keeping place by singing. It’s definitely her but it’s not a big deal.
