actually, most people are not reading iman’s statement PROPERLY. she did not mean to say michelle obama is not beautiful she meant to say that mrs. obama did not rise to fame based on beauty. she is saying that icons of beauty (such as models, etc) generally crumble and have nothing left to stand on but women of substance who are beautiful have something that will sustain. I admire and respect both women…Iman for overcoming so many obstacles while being a black model back in the day….she helped paved the way for other women of color in the fashion industry. Ugh… so reading all the comments…here it is. What was meant in my last comment was that both of these ladies were in the raw and are beautiful despite what society calls “black beauty”. We as black women (and women) all have that quality.
