Wow Abiola, this is one of the best commentaries you have ever posted. BRAVO!!! When we have 9 & 10 year olds walking around talking about their butts aren’t large enough or when they get 15 they want breast implants… THERE IS A HUGE DISCOURSE IN AMERICA!!! I grew up in European society & the definitions of beauty there are SO different than they are in America that when I came back to the US as a young adult I was in CULTURE SHOCK!!! I’m going to alert all my homegyrls & try & catch this film in theatres & it not we will certainly be purchasing the DVD. I have 3 goddaughters all tweens & they need to hear what alot of the people in this film have to say!!! Again, BRAVO!!!

I agree I don’t wear weave or fake nails or even alot of makeup, I believe in real beauty! natural. Beauty is not getting all of that plastic surgery done to u ! My friend used to wear alot of makeup and when she took it off she looks so horrible !

Vanessa Williams(correct me if I’m wrong) broke the Miss America mold and invited women of color to experience the GOD GIVEN BEAUTY. Growing up my momz and I would occ catch the pagents and as a PRETTY BLAQ LIL GAL I learned how to carry myself PRETTILY(aza LADY), but not one of those lovelies carried the look of a QUEEN as I did everytime I saw my reflection, rather in a mirror, in my shadow or in another’s eye’s. And now God sister Abiola at 30 and counting I am BLESSED to be a part of a NATION of GRACE guided by MERCY. Today’s media attempts the job of passing positive self image but fall short due to the reality that for the majority of eye viewing deaf minds the image is placed in a man made impenetrable box with no room for expansion. God brother Michael continue to follow the path at opening the Pagentry to include all that know: EVERYTHING THAT WAS CREATED BEGAN IN THE IMAGE OF AN OBVIOUSLY BEAUTIFUL CREATOR.
