Billboards are meant to catch your eye in a glance. This is exactly what this billboard of a shackled slave did. What do you think they’re trying to advertise?

Upon further research, I found out the organization that posted this photo is Pennsylvania Nonbelievers. They’ve since posted an apology on their site because they didn’t intend for the message to be interpreted as racial. Here are the points they were trying to make.

  1. The bible is NOT holy or moral as promoted by the PA House of Representatives in the “Year of the Bible”.
  2. The bible was used as an excuse for many very bad things – including American slavery.
