Is this article serious? Sleeping one’s way to the top is antiquated in REAL Corporate America and in industries where minorities are barely visible, it can be damaging to black women or men to bed the boss (or any of his “yes” people) for a promotion or raise. There is still a perception that black women are sexually promiscuous and unintelligent, getting jobs because of tokenism. Shagging your boss will only reinforce this myth.

I can also say that screwing yourself to the top doesn’t guarantee that you will keep your position or even get it. I have seen some women do this and all it did was give them the reputation of being s**ts. So in effect, by screwing the boss, they screwed themselves. Don’t eat where you s**t.

…Okay, I get it now: this is advice for those who want to get into the entertainment industry. I just noticed that the photos posted are of women who have slept with celebrities. Basically, these womens’ only talent is being opportunistic. That’s great: give advice on how to be a video ho or bed producer. Nevermind giving advice on how to properly climb the Corporate Ladder. But then again, some of the people who write these articles are either jackasses or think that most of its readers are–or both.

I know that this article is a tongue-in-cheek look at people who advance their careers with sex, and should be taken as somewhat humorous, but there IS a grain of truth to it. Women not only have this as an option over men who are trying to make it to the top of the career heap, but it perpetuates the notion that women are “sex objects.” But you can’t flaunt your sexuality and femininity without a level of responsibility.

BTW…if they ever go back to printing paper food stamps, they should put New York’s face on it…the High Priestess & Personification of Ghettotification. :D

Yes, I am guilty of reading many of these article (although I read more serious material from other news magazines and papers). That said, there are several teenagers and tweens who don’t read anything but HB, Glamour and Cosmo magazines (etc.) and may actually take information like this to heart.
