Well nobody said have to identify with your race. My mentor growing up was a black man at school, he was the assistant principal and he even showed up to my neighborhood and picked me up when I was skipping school. The person who lead me to Christ was a black man, I could care less if every black celebrity screws up and whose to say they are interested in representing race anyhow. Sadly, a lot of these men make poor choices in their life, and because they’re in celebs or big time music artists, that makes them a target for all their drama. Black men get the rep they pursue. Ever heard the saying “You are what you eat”? Since the time our ancestors where brought to this country, African American men have desired to be and have what they saw the white man having and they watched him so closely they started doing all the underhanded and deplorable things he did to attain goals. As time has gone on, we all have taken on the trait of wanting what the world deems as “good or desirable”. We all have lowered our morals to compromise and do things we might not be proud of doing to get to where we want to be and get what we want to have. It’s sad. Money has also impacted morals and what people do in private and in public. At the end of it all, we have become an immediate gratification society that has very little morals and only care about the now. None of the African American men that have placed themselves in the public light negatively are worthy to open a door for me. That includes Shaq, Tiger, Diddy, and the likes. It does not matter how much money they have, what position they have, they get no respect from me and I feel sorry for the women that don’t have enough self esteem to require more from men. If these low self esteem women (of all races) would value themselves more, these men would have to conduct themselves differently. What baffles me even more is why do these women then expect anyone to respect them when they publicly allow anything. Go figure. Y’all can have them. For me, it does not matter what his position in life is as long as he has high morals, is honest, is intelligent, is sexually uninhibited, is caring, is willing to work and make a secure home for me. The glitz is well overrated!

People need to know what rest with in the deep recesses of the human heart. One example would be how Malcolm X changed. People always remember him as the militant guy, however hardly anyone ever recalls when he had a change of heart and became more loving. And for those who keeps on preaching the hate doctrine, we need to thwart them with the love and knowledge that we have… Not only limited to colour but as the human race.

The thing is that people tend to focus on the negative. Not all Black men run around acting a damn fool! I know some very productive Black men that are out trying to get their education and are not into the stupid things that Black men are portrayed as being into. They are quite the opposite. But I do believe that Black people in general have something to do with this image. How many times have you seen or heard of a Black man calling another Black man “white” b/c he was in school, or the way that he talked, or just b/c his pants weren’t hanging off his behind? It happens way too much & that is part of the problem.
I’m so tired of Black people being tagged with the stigma of ignorance. It’s 2009, about to be 2010; it’s time for a change. Black people need to prove these nay-sayers wrong. We have a Black president, so that right there is enough to say that Black people are not naturally stupid, ignorant, or any other negative thing.
Not only Black men cheat though. how many other scandals are out there about men of different races cheating? Although I don’t condone it, every race cheats. Just like with people who act like a damn fool, every race has some of those. I don’t want to sound like I can’t let go of the past, but the way society views Black men is a legacy of slavery. People have been socialized to view the Black man in the negative way & taught their children the same, & so on… It’s a vicious cycle.

To me, there is nothing more beautiful than the Black man & I will stand up for him every chance I get…

If this were true, we would have our kids TURNING out better. Black men need to step up their game. It’s really bad out here. A lot of women are having kids out of wedlock, and there are several unwanted pregnancies each year. Kids are not getting the proper education. I watched a judge reality show last week, this dude had fathered 47 different kids, he was only making two thousand a month. The sad thing about it was he got his last victim pregnant, and requested that the child be put up for adoption, sad part about it is this: STATISTICS don’t lie, we have a too many single parents out here, our kids are NOT being provided for properly whether its food, clothing or education. This is bcuz my brothers are NOT doing their J O B! This is why we get bad raps. Very few who are choosing education route, give back! It’s sad…

Unfortunately, majority of the Black men who are super stars, always in the spotlight just happen to be adulteries. Michael Jordan, Shaq, Coby, OJ, hell even Bill Cosby! It is a good thing that in the public eye having a wife still means you need to be a faithful guy, or at least appear to be, or you will be thrown under the bus like Bill Clinton.

Think about it, Sean John had a sweat shop! This n*ggaz money has NOT stopped, but beat ya girl or cheat on your wife and your outta there!

LOL, so be better men to your women, better fathers to your children, that’s what a real man should do anyhow.

PS. Having the money to take care of your kids does not mean a damn thing! Think about how the child is going to feel knowing their daddy couldn’t stay with one woman long enough to make a home for them. What message does that really send to young women? That its ok to have “baby daddies?” What message does that send to young men? Make money and get every women pregnant that you can?

Where are the morals?

The answer is simple. We are Black. We are Men. And, everybody hates us.

It’s bad out here, but these are just black men in the spot light. Last night I was at my college graduation ceremony, while sitting there in my grown and cap with lots of time of my hands, I looked around at my fellow graduates, there was about 400 graduating with either there Bachelor’s of Master’s degree, but only 7 black men graduated with me including myself. It was one of the realest things I ever seen, because it’s true in most aspect of American life. Black men are a dying breed! But it starts with us average brothers to make a change, let’s do things right. If you don’t want to go the college, get a trade; if you want kids, make that commitment under God, set your family up before you bring a gift into the world. Make sure you are gainfully employed and can live comfortable and are able to support your wife and self, before you think about having children. Brother’s stop abusing your body by letting everything with a “pu$$y” make you lose focus. We make first love ourselves, before we can love another. But as us men step our game up black women need to stop attempting to do the same. Just because you made a bad choice in the past, doesn’t mean every black man you run into is the same. Some of us, have homes, car, career, college educated, kid-less, have good credit and benefits, and so much more. Stop thinking that every black man is the same. Just some food for thought ;-)

If black men did what they were supposed to do and not what they wanted to do then they wouldn’t get a bad rap. Where there is smoke there is fire- so stop trying to make it seem like black men are just getting a bad rap just because.

I have a few ideas. Number was its the picture the media draws of us. The attention is usually on blk folks that do ignorant and nicca like stuff. Number a lot of younger women are in luv wit thugs, hood niccas and dudes such as that. SO even if u are a good one by nature if u dont want 2 be left out then u will come out wit a hooded out image so u can have a better option when it comes to women. Number 3 blk people are just loud and like to be seen period, since u like be seen and a lot of white people are watching u of course they are going 2 report and spread the bad news and keep tight lips about the good stuff. It also seems like that bad black man stuff sales, lets keep it a 150 we all know some blk female thats been in luv wit thugs i mean thats a few of their preferences or has been in the past, which is coo. ANother reason is we self destruct, a lot of us do some of the most ignorant things such as degrading women in music, thats silly as ish, joining a gang 4 support and security, sagging and ish and trying ot be way 2 hood. some of you hit your points correctly. men or lacking in the higher educational system,they are filling up the jails,we are killing each other everyday. there are more single parents then ever before and we don’t respect our community. not all is lost tho,we have a black president and we have more rich black people than ever before. the solution i believe is we need to develop a right to passage for all of our children. we need to teach boys how to be men and girls how to be women. we will never get it together until we all play our positions in our communities. a man knows how to stand up when he falls, a boy will have every excuse and reason not to stand up.

Amilkar…black women do not hate black men. The problem is that black men and women completely believe in the stereotypes that have been fed to us by the media and society. I live in Orange County California and I realized the other day that if I stay n the OC I’m 9 times outta 10 gonna marry a White or Mexican man because Black dudes aren’t into Black girls out here. We get a bad reputation for a multiple reasons, the out of control stereotypes the public has about us black men.Plus the choices some of us men make aren’t best for Ourselves nor our families nor OUR communities. The biggest problem is lack of knowlegde, for various reasons information on who the african man and woman are have been supressed for centuries. If the truth comes out, and it is !! there will be a shift in power on this planet. There is a reason why we are kept at the bottom of society, religion has created such a confusion among african people. We were never givin freedom from slavery, slavery was just elevated to a more sophisticated level, Slave masters became employers. African people are directly connected to the universe and those responsible for creating it. Our oppressors know this, the ones at the very top not the regulars you see every day. They study us especially in the prison systems, they know what frequencies to put you under because you’re in there system trying to make it. They told you who God is and who you’re suppose to worship. They never gave us that chance to figure it out on our own cause they know who we are. Remember this, there existence depends on african people, we r the life force of this planet !! When you get to know this information you’ll start to put the pieces together as to why interacial togetherness is always promoted on this planet, seems like some one needs us for their survival. In a few years people of color will out number caucasions in every state and country and those at the top levels know this ! African people are warriors, Gods & Godesess by nature created by devine beings who share the same melanin as us.

Furthermore, I feel like the Black men that we are speaking of is living “The Black Man’s Dream”- rich and sleeping with a bunch of different women, most if not all of them non-Black. Most men who are not living this lifestyle are not living it because they can’t for some reason or another. If anything changes, it will be because what these men are doing is accepted, and it is already becoming the norm, so it will get worse way before it gets better. Because of some of the experiences Ive had dating black men in regards to disrespect, them being broke etc.. I started dating white men and I saw a huge difference. If your not happy with what your race is offering you test out another one. He’s right, you dont see white women getting disrespected like we do…..

Black women have a bad reputation as well so it dont seem to make it any easier for black men to change. Black women are known for being crazy, rude, loud, obnoxious, ghetto, careless etc.

Black women need to be able to hear and accept some truth once in a while instead of always pointing a finger at someone else, so do black men…Im big on taking responsibility for actions. man my comment is for black men stop doing dum sh% since you know that the media portrays you guys as bad people on earth a.k.a. (aliens) start doing postive stuff mentor other black male kids and stop hanging playing video games, and bumming off people. Go to school there are grants and other things out there to help you out, start helping build better black community and if you do get a whte women that cool with me but don’t get lazy and let them take care of you that is making the black men weak.
