Watergate Scandal
President Nixon remains the only president of the United States to ever resign. On June 17th, five men burgled the Democratic National Committee headquarters at the Watergate office complex in Washington, D.C. in an attempt to plant wires to “yield information of value.” The Nixon administration attempted to cover-up the scandal but failed. The story was leaked to the Washington Post by a secret informant given the name “deep throat” due to his deep voice. 43 people were indicted, convicted and incarcerated and former President Nixon has never lived down the moment in history.
