Behind The Seams: Designer Cesar Galindo Gives Us Hope For Winter With Fall 2014 Transitional Staples
1. Designer Cesar Galindo Creates Transitional Winter Staples
In the bitter cold, it's often hard to find shoes, coats and outfits that are both stylish and functional. Just because we have to wear a bulky coat, doesn't mean it has to be sloppy. Cesar Galindo created stylish winter pieces during his New York Fashion Week Czar By Galindo presentation, and of course, #TeamBeautiful was on the scene. Here are the items we saw that are making the last few weeks of winter bearable.
2. Czar By Galindo Collection Offers Lovely Fall Pieces
Galindo understands women's demand for clothing that takes them from their 9-5 to after-work events. "There's two words I describe in this season and it's called, 'Altered State,'" he says. "That's altered states of existence and you're taking your time to transcend from morning to evening because our offices are now in our hands."
3. A Boxy Jacket That Can Go Anywhere
The designer was sure to stay on trend with boxy jackets. "The boxy jacket is important to everybody," he says. "[Mine] can go to work or to evening. I think it's important to have versatile clothing."
4. A Beautiful Cream Two-Piece With Possibilities
This cream number had everyone swooning at the show. With a down coat and booties, this can be worn right now.
5. A Blue Dress With Cold-Weather Stockings
Another option for the chilly weather.
6. A Long-Sleeve Gown We Can Wear Now
This piece, which is definitely more appropriate for after-hours looks great with a blazer or even a long vest.
7. Wide Leg Pants Offer Warmth
The wide pants are on trend, and paired with boots, they don't have to be stuck in the closet until Spring.
8. A Navy Two-Piece That's Still Wearable
The navy in this ensemble is perfect for the Fall.
9. A Turtleneck Poncho That Keeps Us Warm
The turtleneck is a fall/winter staple, and we loved how Galindo made it chic again as a poncho.
10. Leather Leggings With A Long Coat
"I'm a New Yorker and this is the world of layering," Galindo says. "When it's 5 degrees outside and you're going to work. I think the next thing we have to challenge as designers is to have a good shoe that looks good for all territorial weather from slush to ice to cement." While designers are looking for winter shoe solutions, we'll depend on leather leggings to keep us cozy.
11. It May Be A Strapless Dress, But We Can Wear It Now
Don't be intimidated by this striped strapless number. Layering with stockings and a long coat can easily make this a great outfit from work to drinks after.
