It’s a week of wedding planning advice for the newly engaged! If you’re one of those brides, we’ve created a blueprint for your first few steps.

Now that you’ve had the difficult conversation about the guest list, it’s time to move on to the second step in your wedding planning process. It’s time to tackle the guest list. Again, you’re going to need to sit down with your significant other and your family to come up with a list.

When creating your guest list, there are some things to keep in mind:

1) The more people you invite, the more you’re going to spend on your wedding. That’s more food, more linens for the tables, more centerpieces, more invitations, more wedding programs, etc.

2) Make sure you factor in a guest for each of your invitees. You don’t want to put Mr. Jones on the list and forget to include Mrs. Jones. Also, make sure you allot for unmarried people to bring a guest as well. Most people don’t want to have to roll solo at a wedding. Often, couples will say, “We can’t afford to let the single people bring dates!” Single guests should NOT be punished for not being married. If you can’t afford to allow your guests to bring a date, consider cutting your guest list.
