Every bride wants a beautiful wedding. I’ve never met a bride who has said, “I don’t really care how my wedding looks.”

So here’s the question: After you fall in love with the weddings on shows like “My Fair Wedding” and “I Do Over,” how do YOU create an incredible look for your wedding without spending thousands?

First, there are some things you need to know about the weddings on television shows. These shows have great relationships with the vendors who provide the services and products in those incredible weddings. The vendors often provide everything at very little to zero cost because of alllllll the mentions they get on television. Have you ever noticed that the hosts always say who provide the linens, the flowers, the rentals, etc? It’s really hard for you to compete with those trade relationships.

With that said, chances are that you won’t be able to create those over-the-top looks at your wedding without spending thousands of dollars. But you CAN create a really pretty event, even on a limited budget. Here’s how:

-My favorite way to create a beautiful event without spending a ton is to hire a lighting specialist. Even if you don’t have thousands to spend on rentals and flowers, a room bathed in a soft pink or amber (or your wedding color) can give a beautiful effect. It’s my #1 way to spend money on transforming a room if there isn’t a huge decor budget. Even if you are stuck with using the hotel’s linens and can’t afford tons of flowers, incredible lighting can REALLY change the look of a ballroom. Also, if you don’t think your room is the prettiest ballroom ever, beautiful lighting will accent the space instead of using the white, overhead lighting that might accentuate the room’s flaws. A basic uplighting package can do wonders for a reception space.
