Ne-Yo sat down with Cleveland’s Z107.9 to give an exclusive interview for HelloBeautiful, where he discussed everything including his four major heroes, the first time he met Michael Jackson, why he won’t listen to his own music, what having a “Champagne Life” consists of, whether or not he’s engaged, his questionable sexuality, and why he chose to have a baby with Monyetta Shaw.

    Luther was gay and I love his songs to death. One of my favorite old-school singers is a lesbian. Good music is good music.     Great interveiw! I feel whatever is going on with Ne-Yo is his business and he doesn’t have to justify his sexuality or anything else to anyone. Albeit, I’m not so big on having a baby out of wedlock but as long as that child is taken care of, safe & secure, it should be no one’s concern what’s going on with him, the baby’s momma, etc. I feel our culture relys far too much on what our celebrities are doing instead of cleaning up the mess that swamps them on a daily. Ne-Yo, Usher, MJ, Luther, Queen Latifah, and others have kept the music scene live & fresh! Let’s not ruin their legacies with all bullsh!t that seems to have enveloped a whole lot of us. Let the music play…

    The mere fact that he is addressing the issue says alot. I could care less whether or not he’s gay b/c his music is real music. Like Sub-Negro stated, being gay puts a limit on your career if you are a music artist…PERIOD! It’s not right, but it’s a fact. Ellen’s partner portrays a straight woman in the tv series she is on, but the perception of a lesbian woman who is not obviously gay (bka “femmes”) or a gay male that is not outwardly feminine gives the debate of whether or not they are actually gay so the intrigue keeps them in business. Neyo, or any other male singer for that matter, could not be an openly gay man and sing romantic songs if they want to continue their careers.
    **on a side note** The fact that him and his “best friend” decided to have a baby together w/o the relationship speaks volumes. This is no different than any other surrogate parent…
