It’s a shame Hello Beautiful is constantly misrepresenting their articles with their taglines. She’s actually saying she’s going into production, “so that we can no longer complain that there aren’t roles for us.” The tagline is inconsistant with the sound bite.

Nothing against the article, little sis is right, but Hello Beautiful needs to step it up.

This is so sad and elementary why can’t you guys get this right??! Why the hell can’t Hello Beautiful properly quote Miss Pratt. This isnt the first time you guys have misquoted someone or posted something on pure hearsay. The quotation they have for her is nothing like what she said. Your lucky this wasn’t anything serious she would sue your asses for Libel.

Instead of making her out to be ignorant, why not congratulate her? She is doing what Tyler Perry and Jada Pinkett and Will Smith are doing – making sure that there are acting roles for black actors. Considering how young she is, she should be applauded on her business ac**en. Since the demise of UPN, the only black comedy or drama shows are two produced by Tyler Perry. We have lost valuable shows such Girlfriends, My Wife and Kids and Soul Food. In the late 90′s and early 00′s we even had shows aimed at the black teen market such as Sister Sister and One on One. Now, nothing! A lot of black actors have struggled to gain full time roles after these shows ended. Given her experience, I think she understands the market and if she has a good mentor, she has the potential to do well. It would be good to see a good black family show on TV which all races can enjoy.

They misquote people all the time at news one…and choose stories and images that will affect us negatively and erode our esteem without some of us knowing it, and at like other times, such as this, it’s quite blatant…

It is an attempt by them at social engineering..psychological assaults on our esteem and self-worth.The media has been doing it for years and will continue to do so.

Most of the staff at News one are soul-less, despicable sell outs who’ve sold their sold for the peanuts they recieve.

HB should be ashamed of themselves with this fake headline. I knew something was up when I read it. SMDH Kudos to Kyla Pratt on trying to created more jobs for black actors. Rueben85 you’re not lying when you said all that. I actually read a black journalist’s comment in a NYC’s newspaper claimed that there’s not enough black shows abroad but think there’s more here. I will be emailing her where she get her information from because she and HB and Newsone lived in another world as far as any of us can see.

If you listen closely to the interview, she’s talking about her production company and writing, and using those as vehicles so “we can no longer complain….” Sht quote makes it sound as though there’s no reason for Blacks and Black women in particular to complain, which isn’t true.

What I want to know is when is Kyla,going to stop playing those KIDDY a$$,roles.So she can pose in “KING”…Lil’ Rudy,grew up and oh my!

1. Kyla Pratt – sweet THOUGHT, but the the REALITY is that there remains a “lock-out” on most BLACK women in Freakwood (Hollyweird). It’s nice to see sistas clockin’ the chedda, but how OFTEN do we see a “black face” in comparison to a new euro-clown face? Not to mention the recent DELUGE of HISPANIC actresses bum-rushin the screen such as what we saw when the “Brits” in the 80′s and the 90′s came stormin to Amerikka doing film-work, commercials, etc.

Yet, sistas are still crawlin along…and truthfully should be ahead of the pack! Hmmm? Wonder if anyone else has noted this.
