…you brought up an interesting question about non-black men dating black women, but not marrying them. It’s very uncommon for this to happen, although it IS happening more and more nowadays.

…maybe we do it to ourselves by settling for being a kept woman or some sex on the side rather than being a wife…where I am from (Michigan), many black women (especially the young ones) will date a chaldean (christian Iraqi or Syrian), a latino, or some other exotic group simply because they want to have a baby with good hair or it makes them feel that they are special–beautiful–because they were chosen by some man who isn’t black. They decide to take whatever they can, already not understanding their own value or the value of marriage and the family. These women make themselves easy targets for men and unfortunately, many men think that it’s like this with all black women.

I have dated non-black men and very early on, a few of them thought that I was just good for putting out sex, and I had to quickly clarify that I wasn’t that type of woman. I have even told them that if they would never consider having me or another black woman meet their family, then they needn’t bother. On the other hand, I was also in a relationship with a man from India for about 1.5 years and it was one of the best relationships that I had. We even discussed marriage, but we broke up because he began to suffer from clinical depression and he withdrew from me. I did what I could do, but in the end, it was up to him to get help. However, we are still friends and stay in touch.

I also think that black women are negatively potrayed and often, the personal encounters non-blacks have of us are negative to them because they do not understand our culture. STILL, there are some things that we do to ourselves to ruin our chances because we are quick to “check out” on someone; we don’t want to be percieved as mammies or house negras that are always saying “Yessuh” the way many of us were forced to do in the past. Now that we have a voice, we are going to use it, but sometimes, it can be to our detriment to be confrontational all the time.

Now, I’m not saying that this is ALWAYS the way nor am I suggesting that black women should “suck it up” when it comes to conflict. This is just my observation and me speaking from experience and from what non-black men have told me.

Well I’m not surprise at all after Reggie was embarrassed by some of Kim’s comments. There was the one about her saying the name of an undercover air marshall, than if Reggie win the superbowl he will propose to her, an ex-lover of Kim lurking around her and then she doesn’t wanted to get marry when that’s far from the truth. Reggie must have been tired of it all when the exact same gossip magazines that Kim talk all her business to put out stories that she disputed are not true.
A friend of mine who work in the entertainment industry said Kim used to be on certain talk shows almost weekly and all of a suddenly she’s not on right now. CaliFemme23…I don’t think Imizcool is saying that black women are un-attractive and have attitudes. I think he’s saying (at least I hope he is) that unattractiveness and attitude are why he would reject ANY woman. He obviously bases his choice on these two factors (seems a bit shallow) NOT on the race of the woman. Obviously he could have worded it differently but nonetheless I do believe this is what he meant. I’m thinking there may be a correlation between how well a person expresses themselves and how deep they look when becoming attracted to someone. Just a theory.

With that said…I am dating a European woman right now and I am black. Now my decision was not taken lightly nor is it based on self-hatred/loathing. I love my beautiful black sisters but unfortunately I have not been able or fortunate enough to meet one that I truly clicked with. What needs to be addressed is what is the disconnect between black women and black men. Why is it getting harder and harder for black men and black women to cross paths in a meaningful way? I work in the financial services industry and I have not run into ONE…I repeat ONE eligible black woman yet.

As for the so-called “attitude” black women get accused of having, one of my theories is that black women have been HURT! Not only through discrimination, but through subtle, symbolic and/or overt rejection by black men. Being left to raise children by themselves. Being beaten when they voice an opinion. Mistakenly being labelled as hard to get along with when all they’re being is strong and independent which is just a survival reaction from the situation WE as men put them in. As a result, our sisters are defensive and suspicious of black men and maybe men in general. Being strong and independent beings (think of how many single black mothers you know), black women do not take ANY shyt from a man. And rightfully so. Black women are goddesses whether you know it or not and shouldn’t have to be subject to cheaters, boys, abusers or men who cheat on them with the first white woman they see. But we have to help our brothers find their way home. Sisters let down your guard a little bit and let GOOD black men in. Don’t be so quick to draw conclusions about a man you meet. Let that wall come down a little because there are black men out there looking for you. Help them find you!

I am a real black woman who never have a problem getting dates with real black men. Let me tell you a story about a situation I was in not long ago. A brother with a white woman hold the door for me to walk into a restaurant and his gf gave him a bad look. I ignored her because she seriously got issues if she don’t wanted him to open or hold a door for any black women (even if it’s his mother) that’s her problem. Of course while eating with my friends we heard this white woman arguing with the brother while eating rabbit’s food. SMH
When I left they actually left the same time and the argument got so ridiculous the brother told her to take her gold digging @ss home. Meanwhile I’m with two female friends and one male friend who is gay and we just look at each others shaking our heads and got in a cab.
This same brother ran up before my cab took off and gave me his business card with 2 cellphone numbers on the back. He was an executive for a financial firm. I took the card but no did not call him right away. Eventually we bumped into each other while alone and he bought me lunch from there I found out he dumped his gf who was mind you planning engagement party and wedding with his money. He canceled everything getting all his deposit back. She wanted to take him to court for having her suffered emotional (lose of income what else is new). He got a good lawyer (Jewish) who have her case against his client dismissed.

This is to show some brothers here that there are real brothers who may dated only white women but when it come to living life with them and seeing that it is not what it cut out to be……suddenly wanted to be with a black woman again. We are just friends now and he’s now engaged to a sister (she got 2 kids but he does not cared and will adopt them).

I have dated another black man who was a CEO of another business I’m not saying and he said this to me……thank you for giving me faith in the sisters again! He proposed to me a couple of times but I am not ready to marry anyone here on the ground that I liked to live in two country. Not many brothers I can find who wanted to live like that but it doesn’t bother me because I am happy with myself and that is the most important thing for me. I just wantta say big ups to ( it_wasnt_me_72 ) there was to much chaos for me to read every post since I last posted but yours I did read from the other day and that was cool how you were talking about when you and your boys hung out with the white girls what their perception of black women were and how that made you feel and why you hung out with em. I mean I think most of us know exactly what the deal is with why black men run to the easy prey such as a white girl but it was much appreciated for you to refer back to your mom, grandma, aunts, cousins and the rest of the strong black women who’ve had a part in your life. It shouldn’t be all the bickering amongst us as African Americans putting each other down for another race of people. We need to start standing tall and being proud of who we are and love and embrace what we are as a race. There is ignorance in every race but turning against you all or putting you down for what not only you are but what I am as well is a damn shame and for the ones doing it I’m sorry you hate yourself so much and not only do you hate yourself but you must also hate your momma’s and your daddies since their the ones who gave you life and everything you say about your race includes them as well sugar. I lived with a black man once who was very abusive to me. I mean beat the hell out of me at certain points for silly things and would blame everything on me and not take respondsibilty for anything. When I say abusive I mean me calling into work sometimes because I had bruises I couldn’t hide and was very embarassed by but that doesn’t make me think of all BLACK men the same. Once I was in a place where I could walk away I ran as fast as I could and didn’t look back. I dated a BLACK guy once who begged for everything I had. When I say everything I mean everything. He hung out all day then expected for my check to take care of his household and mines to. The thing that woke me up with him is me getting pregnant and then losing the baby but what’s sad is the whole time I was pregnant I was scared because then I started to see how my decision to be with him was going to ruin who I wannta be so even though he and I are still friends I don’t fool with him on that level because he lacks ambition but that didn’t make me put all BLACK men in a box and judge them the same. It made me reflect on me and what I was drawn to so I had to check myself instead of talking about what and who they were. Now I have a strong BLACK man with a good job and he loves me. I mean and all and all even he has flaws because non of us are perfect but he’s a (GOOD BEAUTIFUL BLACK MAN). All I saying is when you talk about the black woman think about what white people say about the black man. In their eyes 98% percent of you aren’t about anything. Your drug dealers and have alot of babymommas and don’t take care of your kids and still may live at home with your momma. I’m just saying what if I ran around and felt that way about you and clinched my purse like the white people do when I saw you coming and rolled up my windows and locked my doors because I think all black men are going to rob me?
