Last night I read a story about a young black woman named Lakeshia with 5 kids and three different fathers. Her 16 year old brought a gun in the house and hid it, one of the younger kids found it and shot himself. The mother was trial for that and was found NOT guilty. Actually she did not commit a crime, but one white person suggested that she could have been found guilty on something even if it was a suspended sentence and proceeded to talk about this woman horribly. Additionally, the news reporter that was covering the court hearing headlines his article as” THE COURT SHOULD HAVE MADE AN EXAMPLE OF LAKESHIA” and the reporter went way beyond the line of his reporting, by including everybody in the neighborhood in Lakeshia’s story and stated there were over 200 houses with black women in them in the area just like hers and they were dysfunctional, gang bangers without an education and all on welfare and many kids with different fathers. This reporter victimized the whole area of people and those people don’t even know that they were victimized in the paper by this reporter.

Perhaps I am writing too much. But African Americans has to find a way to protect themselves from this type of slander by calling newspapers and demanding that reporters retract their stories even if you have to have a campaign of signatures and going to Editor of the newspaper or media that tend to speak about us all when reporting on “one incidence”.
