Chad “Ocho Cinco” Johnson just gave his “Dancing With The Stars” partner Cheryl Burke a diamond ring. Yet, she’s still denying that the two are more than friends.
So, why did Chad do it? As a “Thank You,” he says. But with the ring being priced at $22,000, and decked out with an 8.51 carat white diamond band, we doubt this is just for a friend.
Here’s what we know:
- Chad called Jason of Beverly Hills in the middle of the night last week at around 3am and asked to meet him. He asked him to bring a ton of his best rings for a “very special friend” to get an idea for a custom ring to be made.
- Chad wouldn’t elaborate and simply asked for Jason to find a way to get Cheryl’s ring size without her being suspicious.
Jason does so by posing as Chad’s agent and makes up some random reason to get her ring size. Cheryl found it to be a little suspect, but went along with it considering it was an April Fool’s Day joke.
- The day of the show, Jason met up with Chad during rehearsal prior to taping to deliver the ring. Chad and Cheryl “were all grins” when Jason left. Cheryl would not take ring off and decided to not discuss anything about what it was for until showtime.
Cheryl said:
“Before handing me the ring, he said, ‘This is a token of my appreciation toward you!’ At first I was like, Is this even real? Not even any of my boyfriends have given me anything like this. Ochocinco likes the bling!”
Ocho’s reasoning?
“She has to deal with me nine hours a day. It’s like a marriage, so why not give marriage gifts? I don’t spend time with anyone like this — ever!”
