I’ll add to this, these writers are called Ghost Writers, They are paid to write the songs but are also paid to allow the Artist to use the song exclusively, Written, produced ect… Janet, Beyounce and others employ these writers to send them material or may co-write the song. In this day and age of unemployment it’s a good deal for the artist and up coming writer’s producer ect… So hats off to those who do this and for those who use these people…

Bangledash has lost his mind with all that double talk. More than likely he’s a member of ASCAP or BMI which provides royalties for the music made and played. If he wrote something, then he needs to hang onto to it for the long run so that he can get the residual income in the future. His long response was an attempt to cover his butt and to save face. It’s a shame, but it’s a recession and he wants to keep making some money. As a member of ASCAP, all of my songs are mine and I’m willing to let others perform them, but I’m not handing them over. For Bangledash to say, “it doesn’t matter” is crazy because it does monetarily. He needs to rethink his position for long term prosperity. Why does he think Beyonce is so rich in addition to all her other ventures? The money is not in performing, it’s in the writing aspect because it’s ownership which equals more money and power. If someone does a remake, remix, or sampling of any of her songs, he is not going to get anything because he took the lump sum and the artist’s name may be the only one on the song. Not smart.

As a songwriter myself I find this deplorable. Elvis did the same thing , bought or bullied his way to credits. She should fess us and stop it.

It is not illegal to take credit for anothers work in music. It’s done all of the time , songwriters sell their rights or allow the artist a credit in order to get a famous artist to record their songs. Col. Parker required ANY songwriter presenting Elvis a song to give Elvis writing and publishing credit , and that is the reason Elvis never recorded , ” And I will always love you ” Dolly Parton refused to give Elvis songwriting and publishing credits when he did nothing .

The 1 thing we cannot take away from her is her ability to stay PAID!!! There are alot of artist ( for example LEDISI ) who make Beyonce sold like a amateur, but what sets her aside from them is that she puts her face & name on anything/everything. The real artist who are loyal & honor their talent/gift are not gonna settle no matter how much money is being offered.
