I think Fantasia has some very valid points, I don’t agree with the end of the article saying she ” broke up a marriage”. It was not a trio marriage, the only 2 that made vows in front of God were Antoine and his wife. She was on all those networks, and she is right Alicia wasn’t. They both broke up marriages. Why couldn’t they both go out and find single men. Although it is be true that dark-skinned sisters don’t get as much recognition as compared to light-skinned or white, but I don’t think that had nothing to do with it. I think she has a point. Before both of their marital exploits, not one of you here would make the claim that Fantasia is more popular on a global scale (or even just here in the good ole US of A) than Alicia Keys. If there was a line for who would get more coverage on their album or who would get more play of their video, Alicia would be somewhere near the front and Fantasia somewhere in the back.

But then all of a sudden, when crap hits the fan and there is a scandal, Fantasia is up front in the line to be put on blast and Alicia is in the back, basically getting off without a blemish anywhere in the national media. And Alicia was creeping with another well known figure to boot, with the ex wife being even more vocal about their sordid relationship! Yet the coverage for the two weren’t even comparable. So I can’t say Fantasia is entirely off base with these comments, I think its true. Although I hate that it seems as if she’s involving all dark skin women in her dirt, and trying to use the plight to her advantage.

Alright… Fantasia has a point on this one because honestly, when it comes to dark skinned or people who are deemed Black from the beginning usually are the “Last ones hired and first ones fired” in certain situations. Just taking her extra-marital affair into consideration, it is already seen that darker skinned people or just Black people in general are the ones who get the most publicity in these situations. Fantasia, Alicia Keys and Tiger Woods have stayed on the forefront of this situation in recent weeks to months and yet no one has shed as much light on Sandra Bullock’s ex-husband Jesse James or Garcelle Beauvais’ (Fancy from The Jamie Foxx Show) husband Mike Nihlon, who by the way was cheating on her for over half of their marriage. Just by comparison you can tell that light shed on those that are fairer skinned or white is not nearly as bright as the mistakes of darker skinned people.
This is even further illustrated by the consistent articles by Hello Beautiful and Newsone about light skin and dark skin that have drawn 100+ comments on a regular basis and usually negative connotations. The simple fact is that racism and prejudice still exist and to think that it doesn’t would be to live in a bubble of denial that will be popped very soon.

True, most of time dark skin people do get overlooked not just in Tinseltown but in society as a whole, however, even if she was brighter than Brooke Shields. The news media would have not hesitated on reporting the adulterous affair that she is in. A home wrecker is home wrecker regardless of skin pigmentation, she has a very weak defense. Pick yourselves up, look into yourselves and if you didn’t cause it, then wish him well(of course after we finish cursing him and his entire species as we women do, lol) and keep it moving, there is someone out there for you too or just be wise, give yourself a break and jump back in when you’re ready. Sometimes things just do not work. All the drama, name calling, publicity, is trivial, unnecessary and sadly ridiculous, especially if and when children are involved. If these couples got together under the wrong circ**stances(and yes do not misunderstand me being married and cheating is a bad circ**stance) it more than likely will only last for so long, unless true love is there along with a new level of understanding and the open-mindedness to change and the work it will take. For trust and believe these new women and wives will always have their guards up and a bit stressed…for we know the old adage…”How you get your man is how you lose him.” Divorcing the prior spouse and being with the new individual although hurtful shows the men are trying to do the right things. Many feel it should either shock or shame them into returning to their spouses. So not the case at times. If a man loves a woman, he will kill and move mountains to be by her side as we know. How that cultivates as time goes on is the risk we take and the promise to hang in there together when we say “I do”. But like I said, it does not always work out well. Is it better to stay married, unhappy and making one another miserable for the rest of their lives? As well as, I wouldn’t just rush to re-marry either. Time and evaluation catches many mistakes, many good things and ways to move on and in what direction(s). I would rather be left alone than stay in a pretend marriage and be treated like Tiger Woods’ wife as well. It is not always what you do, but how you do it. Discretion and respect are key things here. Hard to do with emotions flying all over. On the view of the cheating spouses, it is not as cut and dry as people may think. So easy solution do not cheat in the first place, right? Right, however we’re human and we all do what we should not to some extreme or another or from one level to another. We pass judgment before we stop to look and spray out that closet of skeletons we all have. These individuals have to solve their issues one way or another. Everyone will not be happy and all will be hurt until the dust settles and clears and sometime to come during and after. All they can do at this point is to look at their situations and decide the best options for themselves married or not. Again just my opinion.

I read various news topics every day, and i saw negative press on Alicia/Swizz, Sandra Bullocks ex Jesse, for sure Tiger and his harem, and so on. So I’m not totally buying that Fantasia got singled out by the media any worse – she just had more news items keep coming up (more than Alicia). If she hadn’t bought her married guy that bike, it would not have made news. if she hadn’t tried the suicide attempt, the affair would not have made news. It seems that Fantasia, as talented and worthy of forgiveness as she is, is not accepting full responsibility for her own actions. Its easier to point fingers everywhere else but in the mirror (which is where narcissism comes into play). Some mention that only the married people can break up a marriage, not the mistress – well, you’d have to disagree with the Bible because God clearly holds both the married person and the adulterer (male or female) fully accountable for adultery. Why? because it takes two to adulterize (yeah, i just made that word up for this context). So Fantasia can be forgiven, but she must first admit FULLY her sin. All of the words I hear in public from her seems to make excuses and point fingers at the media, the jilted wife, her lying married lover, etc, but none at herself. Not a good look. She’s talented, but still not spiritually mature just yet. I’m not judging her, but putting advice out there for her and anyone else caught up in a similar situation.

I am a married man,separated from my wife of 16yrs,and in the process of a divorce.I was single for almost 9months,met a wonderful lady(she knows my status,it took awhile to get her to love me for me)so you guys telling me we both wrong for dating,and hopefully start a relationship.These situations should be look at on a one on one basis,this story is old news,why no one saying the men in the Bible,who had many wives or sweethearts,of cause other men to go off to war to die, to get their wife?

To me,so much people are just plain phony,hypocritical,and judgmental,you never know where your future holds either, everyone wants to get married,be in a happy relationship forever, but that don’t happens all the time,so for you who are so judgmental,what happens if you get there and the marriage fails?

Everyone wants to point the finger at the non-married person, Fanny, Alicia, and Angolina, were all single people. The married person involved is the one who made a commitment to thier husband/wife and to a greater power. This Cook guy should not have been involved until the papers were signed, same with Alicia Keys and Swizzy. But the repsonsibility is that of the married persons involved. They are the committed faction in all of these scenarios, respect your vows people, and stop making divorce such big business!!

I didn’t support Alicia cheating and I don’t support Fanny either. I like both as far as some of their music, but I don’t condone cheating. Fanny is on “some other stuff” with this interview, it’s about her poor choices, not the color of her skin as to why she’s being talked about. Fantasia makes a good point about the entertainment industry despite the issues with her dating a married man. They will try to find every light skinned person that resembles European features before they pick an African America whose complexion isn’t light. You have to either be very light or very dark but hardly in between. Those entertainers who are in between either know someone in the business or had to give up the ass , grass , or cash. For the most part though, they mostly pick light skinned people with European features. Sadly, the African American culture(not all African Americans but most) feed off of this madness themselves by saying someone who resembles European features in their culture is more beautiful than someone who doesn’t resemble those features. Especially when African American women have to use skin lightening cream to lighten their skin complexion, or they wear weaves as a way to become more Europeanized for example. Then you have many African American males and females running around saying to date outside your race for all the wrong reasons. Africans as a whole no matter if your from American or else where have the most self hatred as a culture on this earth. We are constantly fighting about bulls**t. I haven’t even read the message board on here and I bet some African Americans are fighting over some bulls**t. When you learn to love yourself regardless of who has treated you bad within your culture then maybe can we start to make progress as a culture. Thank goodness for directors like Tyler Perry and Ice Cube…. they have changed the dynamics of film with choosing a variety of African Americans with different complexions who don’t resemble European features but they had to go get their own production companies to make that possible.

There is a tendency to associate the worse with dark skin and ethnic features. In our movies, even the so-called black ones, the darker woman is the vamp and the lighter skinned one takes on a more honest and pure persona. Check it out. It still doesn’t excuse the behaviors of both of these women and that is so noted. But it also doesn’t deserve the kind of coverage we’ve had to endure because of it. The outcomes are different at this point. It was marriage for Alicia and the jury is still out on Fantasia.

Last week, I intially brought up the topic of how black women are supporting Fantasia more compared to Alicia Keys. Now she is spinning this theory to fit her needs. I don’t think it’s racist because the media also reported on silly white women who stole husbands. For example, LeAnne Rimes was constantly in the media for this infraction. don’t think it is because of her complexion because Lauren Hill, Jennifer Hudson, and Chilli are darker complexed sisters. Yet, they all made the covers of magazines. Although, Fanny hired someone to dress her, she still always looks a mess with all of those nasty tatoos showing and ill fitting clothing. Therefore, she does not command the visual attention some of these other women received. The real issue and only difference is the wife of the husband Fanny is seeing filed a lawsuit against her (period). That’s what put her on Nancy Grace (s**t-starter) show.

Excuses, excuses. Two wrong don’t make it alright. Bringing up Alicia Keyes was pretty low. Both of you women are wrong for what do did, and it will come back on you. Fantasia is the modern day prima donna. She is the new Whitney Houston, the new Leontyne Price. As a music lover, I can care less about her affairs. I want to hear Fantasia sing more and more. She has an excellent voice. No one can deny this. Let’s forget about the affair and hope that Fantasia will continue to impress us with her great voice. Enjoy the music. Okay, it’s clear that the only reason why Alicia Keys didn’t get a special “Behind the Music” interview, is simply because she didn’t want to. Alicia Keys pretty much did the same thing, have a relationship with a man who was married at the time. What is worse is that we praise her for marrying and getting pregnant by him. What about the fact that Alicia was friends with Mashonda or went to her baby shower. Yet no one wags a finger because it’s a fairytale romance while Fantasia situation is some ghetto stuff. Really? They were both wrong for knowingly getting involved with men who were still legally married. Yet only one has had to suffer the criticism while the other gets praised and photo ops. Is that really fair?

@sunshine_55 – you are right and no matter how difficult you put it (as simple as it is) nobody will understand. I haven’t heard anything negative about what Alicia Keys did. I see her on websites with headlines like “Alicia and Swizz marries!” like wtf? He JUST divored Mashonda..so why would you hop right back into a marriage without finding yourself first and Alicia? I lost all respect for her when she did that because she’s always talking about changing the world and being better women and you pull a stunt like this? So, from here on out, she better not say anything else about CHANGE when she changed that womans life for the worst by getting pregnant and marrying her husband, now ex-husband. Either way it goes I don’t care hell Alicia, Swizz nor Mashonda are paying my bills! :)

Fantasia is getting more coverage because she tried to commit suicide and told the wife “you don’t know how to keep a man that’s why he’s here with me” Alicia never went to that extreme by firing shots at Mashonda. Fantasia is asking for all the publicity cuz she’s letting all her shii out there (on purpose because of her up-coming show).

This is my opinion and at the same it’s non of my business and I’m just saying it was a stupid act to try to kill yourself. Did you think of how your child and family will feel if you left this world? Was you even thinking of your baby or this man? Come on now none of this stuff matter because you can overcome it your main concern should be your child.
