No one’s even getting the big picture anymore. I love music by Beyonce but people don’t realize how much REAL GENUINE talent out there is overlooked because they don’t have that “Beyonce” or “Nicki Minaj” look. I barely see videos and hear songs fromwomen of darker hues who are not “hour glass” figures in the media. Where’s Estelle or Fantasia or Kelly? Why do they get overshadowed so much when they obviously have strong vocal talent? Is it because they lack that stereotypical sex appeal?

Honestly, if my baby girl (who is more likely to be thicker than a size 5 and be dark skinned like her mommy) wanted to be a singer… what do I tell her? Can I tell her that she has to shake around and gyrate to be famous? What do I tell her when most of the women she sees on TV are light brown, half naked, and shaking their asses?
