I don’t understand how everyone is missing the concept of an AWARD show. Awards aren’t given to EVERYONE or unknowns. So the fact that she was nominated means nothing. Apparantly she was big SOMEWHERE for the top record label execs, producers, and fellow artists, to recommend that you be nominated. But somehow, she just walked in off the street and was selected to be part of the Best Female Artist category.

Gawd what happened to black thought? Black common sense?

Again, I work with a VERY diverse group of people who have NEVER heard of Jay-Z, Nas, Alicia Keys, Kanye, OR Beyonce simply because they don’t listen to that genre of music.

And lets not talk actual “talent.” If you’re gonna play that card, lets go all the way and ask just how many of the artists in the past 10-12 years COULD actually sing live?

I like Beyonce,am one of Jay-Z’s biggest fans but I also realize that they aren’t the be-all,end-all when it comes to music! There are other genres of music with fans who support them just as much.
What I fail to understand is that if Black artists feel that the White establishment is messing them over,why don’t they support their OWN award shows? Every Black artist with a single out makes it to the MTV/AMA/Grammy Awards but can’t seem to find the time for the Soul Train or BET Awards where their OWN would love to see them…Go figure…

I can’t believe some of us are STILL resorting to blaming ‘The White Man’ when we fvck up on our own. ‘Ye’s been having that spoiled child attitude for a minute…that shiit’s just starting to catch up with him. A few years ago on the MTV Europe Awards he ran onstage upset that his video didn’t win the top award and it cost him a million dollars (Check Youtube).

Seems like some of my brothas/sistas are quick to defend another brotha/sista without checking the facts…Being Black doesn’t make you automatically right and being White doesn’t make you automatically wrong…at least not in my book…

So because ya’ll listened to her songs and didn’t like them, that means she didn’t deserve to win? First of all, how many COUNTRY music FANS do we have in here commenting on how s**tty her music is? I’m pretty sure I know the answer already. Most of ya’ll ONLY listen to black s**t…r&b, rap, soul, etc. So how can you judge country with an unbiased ear if you’re NOT a fan?

First of all, just because YOU’VE never heard of her, doesn’t mean she isn’t a big artist. Again, how many of ya’ll can name FIVE country music singers off the top of your head? Try right now and hold your breath until you finish.

So allow me to educate you on this woman. She writes, produces, and plays her own music…just like Kanye does. She’s sold over 5 million copies between 2 albums has had over 24 million PURCHASED downloads. She holds the record as the female with the most songs on the Billboard 100 at one time, SURPASSED Beyonce for females having the most Top 40 hits this decade, and everybody talks about how Jay-Z sold out Madison Square Garden in a day. She did it in ONE minute!

So I’m not trying to stroke the white girl here, but got damn….the numbers DONT lie. I think she’s done enough to EARN her win. Blacks cant win EVERY f**king time. And again, just because WE don’t know who they are, doesn’t mean they’re not doing big things. Some of my white troops don’t know who Beyonce is…mainly in part because they don’t listen to R&B. It doesn’t mean she should be discredited for what she’s done as an artist.

So before ya’ll start crying foul over s**t, do a little research. It’ll make for a better argument. Otherwise you just look like an idiot because you’re arguing some s**t in which you have no clue what the f**k you’re talking about.
