It’s an age-old debate that divides the sexes –do women feel pain more profoundly than men?

And now – although experts are still divided – new evidence is emerging that women may indeed be more long-suffering.

A study presented recently to the International Association for the Study of Pain in Glasgow concludes that women generally experience more recurrent pain, more severe pain and longer lasting pain than men.

Not only this, but they feel pain in different ways to the opposite sex, offering different symptoms for the same conditions.

For example, a study in Sweden last year showed that women having heart attacks presented generalised pain in their shoulders and back, rather than shooting pain in the chest and left arm.

But headache expert Dr Andrew Dowson of East Kent Headache Services, says that gender can influence how readily you will admit to pain.

‘Figures show women are three times as likely to suffer from migraines – a serious, debilitating headache – than men are, which is partly due to their monthly hormonal cycle,’ he says.

Hmmmm.. Honestly i just believe that us women think to much. We tend to reflected on alot of things and wanting to do alot of things also. We as humans have a short fuse. When we burn out. We are bound to feel pain. As of men, they know how to brush things off and move on.. And FOCUS on one thing. *sigh* oh how sweet it is.

haitian girl live, i think its not only women that feel pain men as well, i think this study is just a debate.. i still believe both genders have the same feeling of pain. but haitian gurl live, don’t say that women think more and men just brush things off. cannot be all men that are like that. i’m just saying.

Well, as a female i suffer from migraines at least twice a week. i was reading a study in which said women are more likely to suffer from them as well as left-handed people. Seeing that i’m both left-handed and female its logical to conclude that i will have them more frequently and more severely. I believe women are more prone to pain because our bodies just cant hold up to the stress the pain puts on them. I’m not saying that men do not feel pain; i’m just saying that women are more likely to feel pain than men due to the physical builds of our bodies. So, to close i would have to say yes i agree with this article. Its science, the strong are able to resist more. Take copper and steel.
