Surprised her publicist let ya’ll run those pictures. Usually they kill any snapshot or buzz that might show her imperfect- or should I say “more human” side. (case in point, the Today show performance, the real age issue that’s been going on forever, the photos Wendy Williams showed on that radio show she had on VH1 of Beyonce in the limo with Jay Z too drunk to sit up, the video of her falling, etc.) When Michelle fell on 106&Park people thought it was funny. But it was only horrified gasps when Beyonce fell. Yes, Queen Beyonce who can never do wrong. She puts her pants on one leg at a time like Michelle, Kelly, Letoya, and everyone else do.

@Melvin_JT: Everything Anaya said is true. I guess you have to be a real woman in order to understand. Beyonce absolutely DOES NOT stand for what a woman can be when she applies herself (like you stated), Beyonce stands for what a woman can be if she applies a lace front weave and wears hardly any clothes. We all as women have the opportunity to use our bodies to get ahead, and some of us choose to use our intelligence instead. That’s not hating, that’s the truth.

There’s a difference between being sexy and being trashy–Aaliyah was sexy. Janet Jackson (especially in her hey day) is sexy. Rihanna is sexy. Jennifer Hudson is sexy. Jill Scott is sexy. Even Michelle Obama is sexy. Bey is trashy. Sexiness exudes from confidence within, not by what size you are or how much attention you can attract by appearing oversexed with gyrating hips and almost naked for all the world to see.

People tell me I’m beautiful all the time, but the compliments that means the most to me are when people comment on my positive spirit, my intelligence, or my talents. Beyonce is a talented singer so I don’t understand why she feels she has to present herself in such a trashy way. I can understand the Ciaras and the Jennifer Lopez’s who can’t sing doing it (it’s the only way they can sell records, by being eye candy) but if you can really sing I don’t know why you would need sexiness as a “gimmick” to sell your records. If my daughters ever looked at Beyonce as a role model then that means I’ve done something wrong.

A quick story then I’ll get off my soapbox! My niece who is 6yrs old was watching a Beyonce video with my mom. When my niece turned it, my mom said “Why did you turn it? You love music, why don’t you want to watch videos?” My niece replied, “I like the music, but the way that lady was dressed….and how she was acting….it wasn’t appropriate.” Enough said. If my 6 yr old niece can see the inappropriateness, I would think that you could too.

I figured with all the money spent on lacefronts and weaves, I can be patient and grow my own. How anyone can live in the fake hair is beyond me!

@1SigmaDove: Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I do think Rihanna is sexy. She may wear some revealing outfits, but she’s not ALWAYS dressed that way. She can be found in a long blousy shirt w/a belt and leggings, or a pair of jeans and a short tailored suit jacket. I don’t mind a woman dressing in a sexy outfit sometimes, but not ALL the time like Ms. Bey. Plus, in my opinion, Beyonce’s outfits aren’t sexy but are trashy because they reveal TOO MUCH (i.e. the famous leotard outfit in the Single Ladies video). Janet makes a habit of showing her breasts and I don’t know what is sexy about Rihanna wearing Mickey Mouse ears sitting on top of a tank?!….really. Beyonce is a wonderful example of a self-sufficient Black woman. She is a successful singer. All of her songs speak about female empowerment and the need to respect ourselves. She has a successful clothing line, fragrances, she is charitable and was able to find a man that compliments her in everyway. She maybe on tv a lot, but thats the nature of the biz and she is hot right now. Would I let my daughter watch a Beyonce video…hell no. But when my daughter turns on Wow Wow Wubbzy on Nick Jr. she hears beyonce sing one of her favorite songs. I don’t see Janet or Rihanna visiting the set of Sesame Street or Blues Clues.
