My mom wouldn’t even let my cut my hair til I was 16 lol they seem like the kind of parents that let their kids do whatever they want as long as it isn’t like really bad I guess….I don’t know but my mama wasn’t nearly as lenient about my physical appearance I had to wear age appropriate clothes and hairstyles ;)

Once again this drama with this young girls hair, why? Young girls in Africa have super short hair, whats wrong with this child having one side short? Like everyone else in the word thinks, its just hair damn. She dresses her age and isn’t doing anything thats going to harm or hender her. My son told me he wanted a star cut into his hair, one on each side and he’s 4yrs old, you know what i did?, cut a star into his hair, it will grow back. I swear, there are other folks we can be discussing besides this beautiful little girl, unless its to praise her and her parents.

I don’t think I’d allow my daughter to wear a shaved head like that at such a young age, but Will and Jada obviously believe in granting their children greater freedom to express themselves through their appearance!I did not start to do my own hair until I was around 12 & a half or 13! My mom got up early every day before I went to school and made sure that my hair was done neatly and that my clothing was neat!

In defense of “Hello Beautiful” writers: I just saw something on Bravo about Monique’s unshaved legs, for the first time. So, whoever wrote about them on here was obviously ahead of the game. He/She might be the next to take the writer’s for that particular show’s job. And in this economy, I think that we can say that they would be doing better than most. True, there are times when I feel like I could be doing these writer’s jobs and do it better. But, Im not gonna hate. And if you leave here feeling uninspired and havent been enlightened, perhaps this isnt the right blog for you. There is a million and one for you to choose from. That’s deep. I would never personally allow my children to cut off what God cherishes about a woman but this is definitely a new generation with many many different ways of thinking and behaving.
She was absolutely adorable with hair though.

It may have been that the little girl’s hair was so damaged from all of those heavy braids that it had to be cut off to start the growth process again. Those braids are absolutely enough hell on a grown ups hair..it had to be harsh on a baby’s head.

I want to say its just hair and it will grow back, but if my own child did that I would probably cry.

It’s obvious the Smith’s give their kids the freedom to express themselves. Yes, @blkmail2000, money can’t buy happiness, but we’re not talking Britney Spears shaving her head here .
These children seem happy ,well adjusted and enjoying life to me.

I must add, what I look at as inappropriate is when kids that age wear revealing and suggestive clothing.

I think she looks adorable. I love this family and their energy. They are truly the African American role model family I think. But her shaved head has style and it’s different for a little girl. I appreciate Will and Jada letting their children be themselves.

I’ve seen worse and personally i dont see anything wrong with it. I wouldn’t recommend it necessarily for my daughter but at times with all her hair, i would like to shave it off lol. (but not seriously)….
