sylkiifeather – lace front is a type of wig, not a weave. it comes in both human and synthetic hair. the very front of the wig has a sort lace netting that protrudes about 1/2 inch from the hair. when a woman buys her lace front wig, she usually gets the lace portion cut down close to where the actual hair starts on the wig. Then the woman must fix the wig right to her original hair line, and those steps makes it very, very hard to tell that the additional hair is a wig. in fact, my sister has one that is her hair’s actual length and she had to tell me that it isnt her hair. they range from a $100 to several hundreds of dollars. In fact in my hood, the beyonce cost $700. hope that brings u up to speed…

I suppose most (black) entertainers wear these lace-fronts to protect their own hair from over-styling and coloring, which I can understand. However, it’s a shame that most of this hair (if human) comes from non-black women (probably because black hair often takes longer to grow out). The result is hair that is not even close to the texture of the wearer’s natural hair. I just wonder if more extensions and weaves/wigs were available in black hair textures, if black women would buy them the way they do the remy. Just curious.

The point is a wig is not supposed to look like a wig. It’s supposed to look natural, unless your going for the drag queen Rapunzel look. If you wear a lace front make sure that you trim the lace , apply the adhesive correctly, and adjust to head and natural hairline correctly or DON’T WEAR IT! If you don’t know how to put it on and wear it seek help of a professional. I have seen some women look a hot mess in them wigs, all because they have no idea of how to put it on.

I see a lot of men complain about black women and their hair but honestly how many would be cool if their women just stop going to the “shop” on saturdays and just kept the beauty to the true basics.
