She looks fabulous! It’s a shame that the African-American community cannot accept beauty within every shade spectrum. There are a palette of colors within our race — ranging from the lightest-of-light to the blackest-of black, and there is beauty and grace within all of those shades.

The African-American community lashed out against this woman, and it was not because she had children from a previous relationship and was older than Usher. It was because they could not stand to see a woman of Tameka’s dark pigmentation scoring a man of such mega-means. Now, that they are divorcing, suddenly positive comments are being made about Tameka. She is beautiful now, and she was beautiful then…

I’ve witnessed similar debasement against Michelle Obama. You are just going to have to face it: African-American men are looking to black women who can compliment who they are — add layers to their lifestyle. It’s not just about marrying “light”; it is about marrying for love and growth. We should celebrate black love. When Usher goes out and marries a Latina, Asian or Caucasian, the community will be crying out — once again — in outrage; and yet, they refused to support and nurture this beautiful African-American couple.

Nefertiti 313 I agree with your comment! I always felt that they gave her a hard time because she was an older woman(late 30′s),dark skin, kinda thick, with children from a previous relationship! Black women were her harshest critics, because they felt that Usher should have selected someone more to their liking! Now they are divorced and these some mofo’s will be picking apart the new lady in his life. They should have been happy to know that if he gave Tameka a chance, (someone who actually looks like the average black sister) they too might have had a chance! We love to hate our African American features and put down our own. Now I know that she has been said to have other issues, insecurity, etc) and that’s a whole other ball game but in terms of her looks they gave her a hard time from the start, knowing damn well most of them don’t look any better, sh*t might even look worse! I never hated on complexion. I’m light and have always been self concious about it because other people had issues. I tried to tan to no avail. I didn’t like the fact that she was so much oolder than he was. Relationships between older women and younger men don’t always work because the woman is almost always more mature. Personally, I would have a problem respecting a younger man because of his age in a relationship. Plus, I never thought she was pretty. She has an exotic look but just not pretty.
