One happy couple’s big day ended in what will likely go down in history as the biggest wedding brawl ever.

Most brides worry about small details getting fudged, or being on time, or not having exactly the right kind of flower on their wedding day. These problems are easy enough to handle. To an extent, even rowdy wedding guests are manageable in small numbers and with the right amount of security.

However, not even the best wedding planner could have created a contingency plan for the mess that occurred last weekend. The New York Daily News reports that things went from regal to ratchet at Orchard Park Country Club in upstate New York, when seven police departments needed to be called in to break up a fight involving an estimated 100 people.

The massive melee came at the end of the wedding festivities as guests exited the reception around 11 p.m. on September 13. It’s not clear what incited the huge family fight, but one witness told the Buffalo News that family members were shouting at each other and throwing punches.

“Things were said that can never be taken back,” one bystander explained.

“I’m telling you, there was blood everywhere,” an unidentified worker from the wedding added. “There was holes punched in the walls. Words couldn’t describe it. Just when you thought it was over, another fight started.”

Officers from the Town of Hamburg, Town of West Seneca, Village of East Aurora, Town of Cheektowaga, and Erie County Sheriff’s Office all came out to sort out the smack down after getting “multiple 911 calls” about the brawl. Even authorities from the State Police responded to the call!

Ultimately, no one was arrested—despite all the damage done to the property—because police couldn’t figure out who or what started the fight. Most of the people involved in the brawl refused medical assistance, but one man was taken to the Erie County Medical Center for a head injury. There’s no word on his condition at this time.

A manager from club initially tried to deny that any such disaster took place. When confronted with the fact that police confirmed the incident, he said he didn’t know why cops would make such claims.

This was the second time that authorities had been called out for an incident at the wedding that night. Earlier in the evening, a male guest got punched in the face for allegedly groping one of the female attendees. He was removed from Orchard Park Country Club immediately; things hung a sharp left at the wedding about 45 minutes later when the larger fight popped off.

Fortunately the bride was ushered to safety at a secluded spot at the venue. The groom may also have gotten away without a scratch, but he was heard hollering for the fighters to leave. Here’s hoping that the bride and groom are still a happy couple that is enjoying their honeymoon.
