I want to CLEAR the AIR on MY COMMENTS-even thou this topic is SPEAKING of Rihanna and Chris…IM NOT just SPEAKING of Chris when I say MEN died at the HANDS of a WOMAN-just LIKE women DO. I am HOWEVER saying that SOME WOMEN do the SAME thing to a MAN and HE is LOOKED at or TREATED like its OK for HIM to be HIT or BEAT on or even LEAD to BELIEVE that because he is a MAN he SHOULD take the LICKS and WALK AWAY. Thats not ALWAYS the CASE-when MEN do try to LEAVE he at that POINT become the ABUSER and the WOMAN be the VICTIM and EVERYONE fall for the CRY WOLF line of the POOR WOMAN-become another VICTIM…when REALLY SHE IS THE REAL ABUSER. Lets FACE FACTS-men do die at the HANDS of a WOMAN…SO do WOMEN and we all KNOW that FACT-so WHY should WE over LOOK the VIOLENCE in WOMEN? We hear the NEWS MEDIA down the MEN and how they BEAT the WOMAN and YET-WHEN it HAPPEN to a MAN its LIKE its OK and that SHE had the RIGHT to HIT or even KILL him. WHY- because he is a MAN? Thats NOT a GOOD enough REASON for ME! They ALWAYS say in the news MEDIA what if it was your daughter, sister, mother, aunt, gandmother, etc? I say WHAT if it WAS your SON<BROTHER<UNCLEor GRANDFATHER,etc who died trying to do the RIGHT thing and WALK AWAY? Would YOU still THINK or SAY its OK for the WOMAN to WALK away free of CHARGE nor STEP up and SAY YES I DID IT and IM the ABUSER not HIM? I hope NOT! Its NOT FAIR nor is it RIGHT to DOWN the MAN and UPHOLD the WOMAN when SHE is DOING the SAME thing. I will KEEP saying it a MAN is NOT alway STRONGER than a WOMAN…thats JUST what the WORLD want YOU to BELIEVE. Its WOMEN out HERE that CAN pick a MAN up LIKE he IS NOTHING and BEAT his A$$ like she is MIKE TYSON. So PLEASE don’t get this TWISTED as if the MAN is the BIG BAD WOLF and the WOMEN are Little RED ROBIN HOOD. REMEMBER that VIOLENCE is VIOLENCE nomatter WHO’S hand it COME from.

I am not one to condone anyone, male or female, getting abused! However, as I listened to Rihanna's interview, I was truly like, "come on, r u serious?". She was sitting there talking like she was the PERFECT girlfriend & absolutely did no wrong!! Unfortunately, there are victims out there like that, but she has no right to act like she was one of them! It was not like Chris was slapping her around on a regular basis. We were always hearing about how obsessively jealous she was prior to the incident. But not only that, she was talking about how her decision to go back to him could have resulted in her causing some young girl to be killed. WHAT??! First of all, she is not that big of an influence. And secondly, what message does that send?.. that no one should be given a 2nd chance, that a person who is willing to get some help and change, can not change???

I truly believe that on that night, she egged that boy on something fierce! And No MAN is going to accept being talked to any kind of way, hit on and especially not belittled by someone who is supposed to be their WOMAN! No, she did NOT deserve the beating that she received, but yes, she needs to own up to her part in how & why it resulted to that!

I believe that before you start thinking you're a saint when you've always been a devil should not throw the first stone about trying to help young women. I always knew she had a lot to do with Chris being in trouble. Since she's the female automatically she's going to be the one that gets all the sympathy but I never believed it was just Chris. No matter what happened in his young life she had no business trying to make him feel like he was the one who was in the wrong. I believe she needs to come clean about her involvement also. I don't believe her to ever be a role model. Chris just needs to stick to his music and his dancing because he runs circles around her.

All you have to do is watch the interaction between young adult males and females at the mall, school, church, etc. to see the passive/aggression which females inflict upon males. Women are quick to hit, kick, scratch, bite, etc and while you're playing with them they think nothing of drawing blood under the guise of 'I was just playin". I learned at an early age to discourage such activity because you never know what the agenda truly is. Female violence against men is considered funny by european standards. Rolling pins and skillets upside the head of husbands. Have you ever held a real rolling pin? I saw a movie trailer where some woman hit Michale Mc Conahay in the head with a crow bar and it was supposed to be funny.. You ever hold a real crowbar? Violence is wrong no matter who does it. And so is destroying someone's property for all of you car window breakers out there...

Actually violence is typically due to a person feeling of helplessness or of losing control and violence is how they act out to regain the feeling of being in control. And also as far as the studies go i would like to see on what scale did they measure violence. There have been many studies run before of this nature that have been misleading due to the broad listing that they used to describe violence/abuse. I have studied many research methods so i know that statistics can be easily influenced by outside facts to come up with the wanted results. i dont think that either partner should be violent toward one another, but i feel like if you big enough to give a lick then be prepared to take one back. But there is a difference between defending yourself from violence or reciprocating it back to the similar extent. What chris did what to the extreme far field and diffently uncalled for. i mean if he had of just slapped her back, held her down, pushed or something to that extent not what he did. i have been a victim of domestic violence myself and i can understand where she was coming from about how after the violence started she didnt do anything she just wanted it to stop. Let me see you get chocked out to the point were you almost blackout and see how much energy you have to fight back or how clearly you would be thinking. And that whole thing of everyone always asking you dang what you do? That is some bull and exactly why a lot of women in domestic violence situation try to hid the fact that they are being abused. Everyone looks at you like you brought it upon yourself. And the reason she didnt talk bad about chris in the story is becasue she still has feelings for him, and i am glad that she came public that is one of the first steps in helping to stop the cycly of returning to an abusive relationship. i could tell that she was sincere in what she was saying cause i felt so many of those same feelings myself after the first break of my abusive relationship and then when i went back and finally left him this last time. She described those feelings to a T.

The facts are the facts. Did anyone read the UNH research paper that's linked in this article? I just finished it, and it pretty much sums up what I already knew. Women are just as violent as men in relationships. The violence has more to do with one person seeing themselves as "dominant" over the other. The least violent relationships are the ones where the two people see each other as equal partners. If one person sees themselves as "the dominant one," THAT'S the person who is most likely to hit the other, period. Gender has little to do with it.

This paper says that the largest percentage of violent relationships involve mutual violence (both parties are hitting each other). Next, is FEMALE ONLY violence (the woman hits the man and he doesn't hit her back). MALE ONLY violence (where the man hits the woman and she doesn't hit back) is actually the least common of the three. The last two or three generations of men have had it drummed into our heads that it is wrong to hit women, but who is drumming it into the heads of young girls that it's just as wrong to hit a man? Every time something like this happens, the woman or girl is portrayed purely as a victim, as if her actions weren't wrong, or didn't matter.

Also, if men are so inherently violent, why is the rate of domestic violence among lesbian couples just as high as heterosexual couples? And why do gay male couples actually have the lowest rates of domestic violence? The highest rates of violence occur where there is one or more women. The lowest rates of violence occur where there is no woman present at all. These are the facts, yet society insists that MEN are always the violent ones? This whole theory of men always being the abuser is based on false logic. It is a fact that men tend to me more violent OUTSIDE the home, but in the home, it's a different story.

I've been in an abusive relationship and I can tell you that as a man, it can be just as bad, if not worse than it is for women. At least a woman will usually have the law on her side if she decides to report it. Men who report domestic abuse usually receive little if any help. In the state of Washington, it is actually illegal for state-run domestic violence shelters to offer any assistance to a battered man.

When my ex nearly broke my nose on xmas day because I didn't know where her bottle of rum was, no one felt sorry for me. When she was taking my debit card and withdrawing all my money out of the bank so I couldn't go anywhere unless SHE said so, no one offered me any help. When she destroyed my belongings, everyone knew about it, but no one looked down on her. Through all of that, I never laid a hand on her, yet I was looked at as being in the wrong. Oddly enough, the only people who believed me were HER parents, because they witnessed the whole xmas day thing. And they still did nothing as far as encouraging her to get help.

I grew up being taught and thinking, "I'll never hit a woman." But because of what I've experienced, I now say, "I'll never hit a woman FIRST..."

So yeah, if Rhianna has a history of violence and abuse in her past, then it SHOULD be made public, the same way Chris Brown's abusive stepfather and the violence he saw growing up was immediately brought up when this first happened. To do anything less is to bullshit ourselves about domestic violence, and strengthens our commitment to solving only HALF of the problem...

The facts are the facts. Did anyone read the UNH research paper that’s linked in this article? I just finished it, and it pretty much sums up what I already knew. Women are just as violent as men in relationships. The violence has more to do with one person seeing themselves as “dominant” over the other. The least violent relationships are the ones where the two people see each other as equal partners. If one person sees themselves as “the dominant one,” THAT’S the person who is most likely to hit the other, period. Gender has little to do with it.

This paper says that the largest percentage of violent relationships involve mutual violence (both parties are hitting each other). Next, is FEMALE ONLY violence (the woman hits the man and he doesn’t hit her back). MALE ONLY violence (where the man hits the woman and she doesn’t hit back) is actually the least common of the three. The last two or three generations of men have had it drummed into our heads that it is wrong to hit women, but who is drumming it into the heads of young girls that it’s just as wrong to hit a man? Every time something like this happens, the woman or girl is portrayed purely as a victim, as if her actions weren’t wrong, or didn’t matter.

Also, if men are so inherently violent, why is the rate of domestic violence among lesbian couples just as high as heterosexual couples? And why do gay male couples actually have the lowest rates of domestic violence? The highest rates of violence occur where there is one or more women.
My opinion is that first of all, there doesn't have to be any bruises to prove there is abuse. Rihanna should be held accountable for also putting her hands on him, regardless if he had any bruises or not. So now she's giving the impression to all these young girls that no matter if a woman puts her hands on a man, she shouldn't get hit back. That's why it's swept under the rug, And that's why women do it. You see it all the time. If a women hit's a man, it's funny, oooohh she's f#ckin him, she slapped the s#@t outta him, but as soon as a man hits or pushes a woman he's arrested so on and so forth. There is no justification or no excuse to put your hands on your mate or whomever you are with. I was in an abusive marriage for 7 years b 4 I was strong enough to get out of there. It took awhile, but I didn't have the media broadcasting my info everywhere either. I understand where she's coming from, but on the other hand, Chris needs some support too. He at least admitted to his wrong doing and getting help for it. That's the first step. Rihanna hasn't taken that step yet.

This was str8 up bs. First she doesn't say one thing against Chris, even gets back together with him. Now all of a sudden, when he got an album coming out around the same time as she, plus has a new vid featuring her suppose enemy, Cassie, she wants to go public with what happened that night.

I saw her version of the incident on 20/20 with some friends and we all agreed she must've said something. She said it was the text from his ex but I personally think he Jay-Z's name came up when she accused him and that's when "she looked into his eyes and saw no soul." I still don't believe she just sat there, while dude is driving during the 30 minutes she endured his violence and thought of not protecting herself or fighting back. But really, he was driving that small ass car and managed to hit her, bite her, put her in a neck hold, and throw her cell out the window prior to her calling her assistant and she just took the abuse.

But forget all of that, what the hell was she thinking when Diane Sawyer told her: no one would ever think you would get in an abused relationship, that she is strong and she replied: "I am strong. I'm GLAD this happened to me." WHAT THE FUCK? Homegirl doesn't know that you can speak about domestic violence without having gotten beaten yourself. She can use examples of when her dad did that to her mom.

Rihanna needs to stop it!!! Period!!!! She is playing the card that white America wants her to play. Divide and conquer! I too am a victim of Domestic Violence and stalking. But I am not ignorant to the facts, pain and realities either.
Coincidentally, Ms. Fenty claims are all unfounded, She slaims to be a role model for little girls and has a responsibility to them. Then why does she take inappropriate pictures ,nude photos, barbed outfit etc and claims to be responsible? If young girls are vulnerable then, the so called mentors must address their own behaviors and not let their indecretions matriculate in our culture.
As a born American from a Caribbean-Latino culture, I am also familiar with the fact that most Caribbean people do not consider black issues a part of their problem. I am certain she saw all of this coming and if she ever really loved Chris and knows the repercussions of their ordeal she would have kept this entire affair under wraps. She needs to own up to her part of the ordeal and how she was a catalyst to the publicity. Private moment, she claims. I dont think so. When i was bruised and battered, noone saw me. Not even my child. I slept with ice packs.
She knows that she is destroying this young man. We need to address the problem responsibly and put it back in the arena of our (black)people. We run this economy. We cannot allow anyone to come and detroy our young men. Rihanna, stop playing this situation for your financial gain! It's NO surprise you became verbal around the release of your album. Nothing justifies the beating, but Im sure if you dug into the vault of honesty, You would find that you were equally as wrong as Chris was on that night. Chris Brown has learned a lesson already, trust me. He too, needs support and I stand by him 100% and would be there for Rihanna too if she wanted advice from a real woman.

Oprah does not deal with the realities of life. She is not a mother and seems indifferent to the needs of young men and Wendy Williams is still under the influence from her party days. She is not worth a show, but thats my opinionated fact. White America always turn their backs on our celebrities at one point or other. I hope ALL the perpertrators are ready when their times come!

At the end of the day - only TWO people REALLY knew what was going on in Chris' and Rihanna's relationship and only TWO people know what REALLY happened that night - who started it, why it started and what caused it to get to that point. Everything else that everyone is saying is merely speculation. I am honestly tired of regular people siding with "celebrities" because of their personal thoughts - these so called celebrities are just regular people with lots of money. But I digress. This is not about taking sides however before you people quickly jump on one band wagon assess and acknowledge the facts. Rihanna and Chris have gotten into several fights/spats/altercations before - SHE ADMITS to that. This BS about a woman being able to hit a man is just that BS - as the article says domestic violence is domestic violence, regardless of who is getting beaten. And just as how a woman can get fed up of being beaten and retaliate drastically, so can a man - this double standard is unfair and unacceptable. If a man is beating a woman over and over again and she throws hot grits at him, she is looked at as powerful, but if it is the other way around, all hell breaks loose...why? Before I get out of here let me stress that I am not one to advocate a man hitting a woman, but I equally don't condone a woman hitting a man. After all is said and done, don't you guys find it the least bit suspicious that she is "breaking her silence" a few weeks before her album comes out? Don't you all find it the least bit suspicious that she never jumped down his throat in ANY way, and even in this upcoming interview she is still HESITANT to speak on what really happened? It is not a matter of "she had it coming to her" or that given the history it was even "inevitable", it is a matter of SHE DID SOMETHING IN THAT CAR that night....think about that as well.

Tons of people have to learn how to communicate, because that fact it leads to violent situations. We crucify men without hesitation when they put their hands on women. And we never identify the women who like to push buttons and cause situations. We have to start holding every one accountable for their actions or we will never get past these actions.

It's very true. It should not be deemed acceptable to lay hands on anyone in a violent manner. It is sad though that she waited to "break her silence" when she has new music coming out.

She had no right to lay a hand on him. so YES indeed, he should have knocked the hell out of her. She is not innocent at all even though she's playing it up for all it's worth. YES INDEED she should be held accountable.

I AGREE with the topic 100%...Men DO NOT TELL because THEY are ASHAME(PRIDE) and LOOKED AT as PUNKS,WILLIE LUMP LUMP,PU$$IES,WEAK,LAST THAN A MAN,NO BALLS,COWARD,etc. Men are taught that-because they are a MAN he should take it-if a WOMAN turn VIOLENT and HIT or BEAT on HIM...some PEOPLE think its OK and SHOULD be OVER LOOKED. SOME men try to LEAVE or WALK away DOING the RIGHT THING but-the WOMAN want let him LEAVE. I have been saying this FOR some time NOW that-VIOLENCE go BOTH ways. MEN REALLY DO DIE AT THE HANDS OF A WOMAN...MEN HIDE THERE SCARS MORE AND BETTER THAN A WOMAN DO. ITS A PRIDE THING and the way THE WORLD LOOK AT and THINK A MAN SHOULD BE. YES-IM A REAL WOMAN AND KNOW FIRST HAND WHAT SOME MEN GO THREW...im speaking only the TRUTH IN WHAT I KNOW.
