Tyler I am glad you spoke up, i also have been trough it all, unfortunately life has not been kind, i have not been able to over come my pain and its taking its tole on me , please make a show to help those that were beaten down at a very young age, and have no support out here, if your know of any programs that are helpful please let me know, i have spent my life trying to get help and am loosing faith. wondering why all theses people in church are saying trust when they have not been through anything like it. Thats sad for a parent to want to even harm their child that way. The same thing that happened to him is the same thing thats happening now to these kids, but the difference is that today these children are not as strong and are going crazy!! Pray thats all i have to say, because you may feel that you’re all along but call on God, hes the answer to everything!

i commend Tyler for despite of all his… cruel past…. he still had the strength to “believe” in his “gift” withen that God not only given him but all of us. Some of us can’t stand to go through hardly nothing and be ready to give up. All the physical evil done to him as kid was just as well emotionally telling him he was nothing and wouldnever be nothing. Evil meant for him to abort the “gift” a long time ago…But what did Tyler do…..he never gave in with proving God is …..True. He proved his “gift”, and the scars that cause his sexual preference can be changed too. you can’t expect so much out a person all at once with this kind of life past, it my never happen to see him heal the rest of the way… he have done more than enough stepping up to his
respondsibility and not even a mennce to society. He is even in a position to give now. lov you “T”

I want to add my two cents in I may. There are alotta deep dark skeleton in the closet secrets that have plagued the families of this world for centuries. And do you wanna know who the culprit is? Satan and his workers. Back in the day, it was always taboo on what ppl talked about and our grandparents always didn’t want to have negative attention on our families’ lives. But the truth of the matter is, these things have now surfaced into OUR generation. The sins of our forfathers have finally reared its ugly head into our society. That’s why ppl are acceptant of homosexuality (once tabooed) and other horrendous things that we see in the media and other ppl. This is the hurt that so many of us have been covering up that we don’t want to be quiet no more. It’s not normal and it definitely not moral. I applaud everyone who speaks up about their dark secrets of what they’ve done or what has been done to them. It’s a testimony for others and also it’s letting others know that there are more ppl out there in your shoes than you think. SPEAK UP AND SPEAK OUT!

Lots of people go through this type of thing. And when we learn to share it and stop wondering what we have done to cause it, and use it to let younger people who are going through the same things know that this is not their fault and they are not alone, this is when we gain power back. I was never sexually abused, thank god, and not physically abused to the extent that Tyler describes here, but i can identify with his pain s if my situation was the same.
My father and mother divorced shortly after i was born, and he moved away when i was 8, leaving all responsiblity on her. This turned her bitter, and being a recluse and feeling self-pity, she began to turn all of her anger towards my 4 sibblings and I, mostly on me because i was so young that i had no choice but to be in the house when the older kids were dating and preparing to leave the nest. Spilled water would get us beaten as if we had raised our hands to hit her or done something severe. She would accuse us of doing someething that she knew we hadn’t done just so that she could get the “no m’am,” response that she needed to promt her to say that we were calling her a liar, and then beat us until she had given out of breath. I am not talking punk-@ss spankings like white kids get mad and call the law on their parents over…i a mean extension chords, plastic hangers, plastic race car tracks, broom handles, belts braided together…we got it like the slaves!
As an adult, i used to promt conversations about this with my sibblings and ask if they remembered any of this, why we don’t talk about it now, and why they are content letting their children be around her now (even though old age has calmed her a bit). Every one of us has a story and remembers the other siblings’, yet when we bring this up to her, she insist that we are all lying on her and that she didn’t “spank” us enough.

I know I wouldn’t and no matter how vivid an imagination a person has, I don’t think that a 40yr old successful black man would stoop as low as to tell a bold faced lie about something as serious as being abused…… If he said I believe he lived through it and that is something no child should ever have to endure… God has truly smiled on you Mr Perry. I admire your strength and courage. I pray that you would always thank and praise God for His mercy and grace that has been so generously bestowed upon you. Keep up the good work!!

Speaking as a survivor of mental and physical abuse, I seriously doubt Tyler Perry is embellishing. I experienced abuse as a child from the time I was ten years old from my father until the age of 18. Physical and mental abuse is traumatic, confusing. It was hard trying to figure out how someone who was suppose to love me, provide for me have such a deep seeded anger against me. People who have not experienced it can’t comprehend the pain that’s been endured. Victims often do not tell because of mistrust and fear. Some people simply do not believe it until it’s too late, after the damage has been done. Others simply do not want to get involved. That includes mothers, family members or friends. It becomes a family secret. Thank God that I also had an escape or defense mechanism. I kept my faith. I also wrote and loved to sing. I still do. Most of all, I stopped the cycle. I refused to pass it down to my daughter and son.

I don’t think any thing was “embellished”. Many people write about what they know and experience. There are some really sick people out there who abuse and kill their own children. If one was abused as a child, it usually stems from the fact that the abuser was also abused as a child. It’s a never ending cycle.

At my last duty station we had two guys within a six month period get court martialed for molesting their own children…weirdest shyt I’ve ever seen. One of them claimed to have been molested by his father when he was a kid. I used to talk to this cat sometimes and he always gave me that feeling that something wasn’t right. I would have never thought that that type of shyt was going on though. There are some sick folks out there.
