I don’t agree totally with everything he is saying. He’s being honest about the pop world being shallow, but to say she gonna have a hard time if she don’t look a certain way is not all true. There are plenty of pop and R and B divas who are big and successful. And Jordin Sparks isn’t exactly skinny but she was still chosen as American Idol and is doing just fine. The young lady has a nice voice and I’m sure that maybe a makeover would suffice and the weight loss should be just to enhance her performance capabilities. Girlfriend, do your musical style the way you’d like and just go Indie. If the people love you a lot, then you’ll get picked up by a label for your abilities and talents. You have the potential to be a moneymaker and money talks honey. If you go to a gym do it because you want to better yourself, and for your health but never to please anyone. And judging from your original piece, you sound very neo soul despite your weight. I would buy your music any day.

Well I wouldn’t say that he put his foot in his mouth, because he really didn’t say anything rude or that America doesn’t already know. Beyonce her self has stated she works really hard to keep her weight where it is. she was not as small and curved in her earlier times but that’s ok. She wanted it she worked hard and she got it. She has stated her self one of the main reasons she came out with her clothing line is because she’s a curvy girl and she wanted something that fit her. She also stated she loves to eat, so I’m pretty sure she does work hard like she said to look as good as she does. There’s nothing wrong with that. I will say though the way he came at the heavy girl was raw and uncut but he kept it all the way 100 for her. Like he said the people in the world of po will not accept you for who you are. He was just honest and upfront with her as to how most people in that business feel, but I say girl if you know you got the voice you do hat you want to do. Don’t let anything or anyone be your discourager instead let that be your inspiration with or without the weight, you do you. We only have one life.

He’d better be careful about saying things that can be posted about people in the “pop” world, because that’s most of his audience, if I’m not mistaken…but otherwise, I think he was telling the truth about what’s accepted by society and what’s not…being overweight is not “normal”, according to most…and people, afraid of what their peers will think, are more willing to accept “normal”…also, Big Jennifer Hudson would probably have had a heart attack trying to hold a candle to Beyonce who is big-boned, not fat, btw..she is a major performer and must be fit…there’s a big difference between being stationery on stage and dancing, when you’re trying to attract certain audiences

Umm…did anyone actually listen to what he said? She asked his opinion. He is just being 100% real with her. Unfortunately, the r&b/pop world is focused more on your appearance than talent and the neo-soul genre is focused on the music. Her talent is there so it’s up to her to decide how comfortable SHE is with herself and make a decision based on that. The comment he makes about Beyonce is actually something i’ve heard HER say before! I wish her the best but the reality is a beautiful, thin girl with a mediocre voice will go farther in the POP world. She would definitely be marketable as a neo-soul artist.

well unfortunately it is what it is… in a perfect world race, color, and size would not matter… however unfortunately pretty women, lite skinned women, white women, and thin women will most likely get all the breaks fair or not…….. its just how society is…….. unfortunately it is the beautiful ones that usually shine……

you have to thank ur parents to a degree on how ur gonna grow up and look…….. so if ur parents look halfway decent then most likely ur gonna grow up to be attractive…

not always but most of the time….so remember when u mate and pro create choose and choose wisely cuz u know if ur ugly as a lil kid then most likely u will grow up to be unattractive but some do “grow” into their looks….

dont get mad at other women if they are more attractive or have nicer features than u…….in ur mind u have to tell urself that ur sexy and beautiful even if others dont tell u or believe it……. it has to come from within….

its the truth and some women have to face the facts that some women are pretty and some are ugly….its the way of the world…..

I find it interesting that Ne-Yo hasn’t caught any serious flack about coming out and saying he is gay. I am a thicky-thick-thick chic myself, but I do understand what he is saying regarding the pop industry. Personally, I would prefer for a singer to be authentic in their style and I think neo-soul artists put up less of a facade than pop artists.
