Nicki Minaj found herself having to explain earlier comments about her relationship with Meek Mill after the Internet called her out for referring to him as “a boy who likes me.”
Nicki responded to the chatter on Instagram:

In case you missed it, Nicki appeared on Ellen where she was asked about her relationship, to which she responded, “I don’t know, we’re still figuring each other out. And in fact, I don’t even want to say I’m in a relationship anymore, because I think when people hear that, they go to like a mean place.”

While we understand where she’s coming from, we can also see how it can be seen as disrespectful. Social media erupted but her Barbz stepped up to defend their leader.

Nicki is currently promoting her role in “Barbershop: The Next Cut,” which hit theaters April 15.
